College has fucked me over when it comes to internet connection... I can't view flash for shit while the dorms are full :( So now voting will be at a minumum (soooo close to that last secret). But with posting, the pain isn't at bad, but still, time is of the essence, and on a list, NG comes later (as I believe it should be). But oh well. I'll get to 1000 someday...
Lame, right?
Flash
Anybody had any good ideas for flash lately? I'm looking to animate one for myself. Alcoholic Zombie Dads and Bromeo. It'll probably score 3.5. Oh well. I need a few more good sounding inside jokes.

I agree, french sucks. It's the one I hate the most from the 3 I know and the 1 I'm learning, it doesn't only sound ridiculous, but the whole grammar thing is ridiculous too. So many annoying rules, and all those fatties who use the 'upper class' french sound so pretencious...

K, I just don't know what 'queef' is :p
J'ai 'queefed' dans la figure de ta soeur mardi dernier, et son arôme a été moins 'foul?' que jamais.

Big Elephants Cause Accidents Using Small Exits
Some times flash crashes when im woking on big files. Other than that its normally fine.
Re: Flash Crash
Think of flash like a giant game of telephone. As you pass the information from person to person, details are going to be jumbled and information is going to be lost. The same applies to Flash. As you save and save and save a flash file, it's going to slowly deteriorate, especially as it grows larger. Chunks of memory are going to get lodged in strange places, the file bloats and corrupts, and so on. The same goes for several other programs.
So Flash corrupts usually for me as I get further into the project. I don't save anymore, I Save As to keep backup copies every few hours. Flash is so unreliable, it's a good to Ctrl+Shirt+S instead of just Ctrl + S.
Hi there!
flash crashing
Flash has NEVER crashed on me :D!
it does hang randomly when saving or doing somehting that requires alot of cpu usage but it eventually finishes the joba nd then works fine :)
one of my flas takes about 15 mintues to save.. oh the fun :D!

That's probably a good argument for using classes. It's a much smaller risk if all of your work is spread over number of files for either the script or graphics than if it's all together.

stupid peapole can't wisper clearly...and jmtb02 so you say i shuldn't save often ???
and what is the diffrence between control+s from contol+shift+s ???

Do other people find small things... that you've been looking at for the whole time you've used flash, but haven't worked out what they're for?
for me it's the auto-kern. I know it toggles line breaks or something, but I've never actually got to grips with the ins and outs of it and what not.
I've just never needed to use it.
I don't know what it is. I don't know about grouping either. I'd like to have a go at learning AS at some point and get into all that, thn atleast i'd understand flash a little more.
At 1/16/07 12:27 PM, jmtb02 wrote: Re: Flash Crash
Flash never crashed on me really and the very few times it does I've only been messing around, I just Apple + S every flash thing even if it's not important, saves me from loosing work that I might need ;D
Confusing Sig picture :o
Just wondering jmtb02 what is your signature showing I can't make it out, it looks kind of like a big spiral staircase, or is it just some photoshopped images put together? None the less it looks pretty good.
What a good looking mirror.
RE: Flash Crash
Flash crashes for me every once in a while, it was really annoying in the beginning when I lost a lot of hard work, but it has become a habit to Ctrl+s like everytime I've done something good.
Re: Flash Crash
Flash has only ever done that once, on one project. It was my first game and i didn't realize putting over 20 filters on one mc would make flash lag :(. So flash just crashed when i opened the .fla.
Anyway, flash is just as reliable as its artists. If you know how to use, its fine, if you don't it will give up on you :(.

Well that's dumb especially if it's only ever crashed for you once. It crashes randomly, for some deep programming reason I can only guess.

No, he's aying you shpould make backup files often
Ctrl+S Saves the file to the last location it was saved at or opened from.
Ctlr+Shift+S is the "Save as..." function. It Allows you to choose where to save your Flash.

Ban him jimbot!
I've only had one unrecoverable document, ages ago. Flash used to crash a lot for me, but that was mainly because I was using it on laptop with like 184MB of RAM :P
Crap TV Animations
Today i was watching Tiny toon adventures and couldn';t help but notice how the animation was just fucking awefull.
i can't say that the whole thing is awefull but the section i was wathcing was the dudes 'dancing' but it was just.. crap.. overuse of streching and complete disregard for character models, with scale and structure breaking apart so often it was painfull. dispie being a cartoon the 'gravity' was even worse, randomly floating characters just makes no sence.
i know this is a childrens cartoon, but so was tom and jerry and the flintstones.
seems that most cartoons made in the 90s and onwards just fail to look correct.
Shame, i used to enjoy tiny toon adventures when i was younger, guess i cna just see how awefull it realyl was now. :)
Anyone else got any views on modern day cartoon awefullness.
RE: cartoons
really i noticed that the old cartoons are better the onl good cartoons don't focus on animation they focus about humorbut on the net the cartoons are much better...
i also like happt tree friends but they started at the internet with the mighty flash so they don't count...

I didn't mean to offend. I simply meant, if you use hundreds of filters, or make a code that loops infinitively, then flash is bound to crash. It can randomly crash, like any program. But sometimes, its not an error, its just sheer size :(.

American Cartoons Vs. Japanese Cartoons (expanding on the topic of animation)
Personally, I find American cartoons to be one of the top things that Americans are good at, as opposed to Americans being good at anything since this country is bringing itself into a depression... but anyway...
Compared to Japanese cartoons, American cartoons focus much more on animation, and frame by frame. They still keep to the original cartoons (not as much with computers and all now but still).
Japanese cartoons are mainly anime or some form of it, which includes good graphics, and of course, a unique anime style, but has hardly any animation. The animation is repeated constantly in many different scenes and is very choppy. While 2 or 3 seconds might have a cool turning around and shooting someone FBF, it doesn't cover up the rest of the animation, which is choppy lip movement.
Japanese cartoons probably have better drawings and techniques of shading and crap, but American cartoons are just way better, especially the original ones. Even if you take a look at Family Guy, you can see how much animation there is in just one episode, and how well it is. It makes you think that those guys can animate the characters doing anything, and they probably can.
Flash Crash
I just save and compact every now and then to keep the filesize down.
