seeing as flash scrollwheel detection doesn't work on macs (regardless of weather or not the mouse has one. Mine has a 360° scroll wheel) it wouldn't be a smart idea.

RE: NG City Ransom

BoM, dude, that's seriously the coolest idea I've heard as of recent for a fighting game, I would totally buy that.
(It's like if River City Ransom was for the Wii)

Speaking of the Wii....
Wii

I got a Wii and I have Metal Slug Anthology :) It's SICK

Never knew that. Hmm, well nevermind then. Still, it would be cool for a future idea...

Studio Ghibli
I watched Princess Mononoke recently and that is fucking awesome. I really like studio ghibli films and other decent anime films like akira but there is definately a cultural difference present from here in the west. I find that some elements I really really enjoy and some bits dont appeal to me at all. Specifically I find that much of the anime stuff I've seen has scrappy endings where it doesnt make much sense and just feels rushed. Princess Mononoke is a prime example fo that.
I enjoy watching miyazaki's stuff mostly for the beautiful animation and try to just let the story flow. I find if I involve myself too much in the story, I end up being dissapointed so now I just settle into the aesthetic and try to suspend disbelief as far as possible.

Your profile says differently :P. Anyway, they have some good movies, i seem to remember that Howls Moving Castle and Spirited Away were nice films. Anyway, its nice to see some smooth, old fashioned animation on the big screen, rather than Pokemon the movie or other shit :P.

Pills

Strange question but, has anyone here done pills before? I'm doing them for the first time this monday and am a little fucked over how much, passed experiences and shit. I'm probably double dropping.. I don't know if that's a good idea or what.

Drink lots of water, bring an MP3 player & go to the seafront to see the lights is the aim.. then just go on a massive mission somewere. ;)

Art Request

As crap as most modern/abstract art seems to be and as pretentious as the artists are, I 'm forced to write about it. This is where the request part comes in. I need YOU to help me dig up some unconventional artwork. I've found some already, such as The Rape by René Magritte and Kissing Coppers by Banksy. But I need more, so if you know of any 'odd' images like this or this it would help a lot.

And if anyone knows a good site about fine art, that too would help a lot.

Thanks.

I remember 'The Rape' from aagges ago in art class. It was in a book of fine art which I saw the other day actually. Anyway near there they had this picture and it looked JUST like this kid we knew and used to get it out every friday and piss ourselves.. was great.

You could use some more Banksy ones, for example theres ones where there is old paintings and he's painted over them bringing them up to date (for example adding shopping trolleys to a nice scenic bridge). I'm not sure of the names but I know these ones are on his site.

And why not use the Obey picture.. i'm not sure what the hell you gotta do but you could say alot about it.

Haha, I am. I'm using this one and this one too, just in different parts of the project. ;)

I've gotta write a bit about the author and then explain why the image in unconventional.

Studio Ghibli

I'm a complete Ghibli freak . I own all the films -ever-, and loads of Totoro models.

My favourite is "My Neighbour Totoro" (naturally) and the close second is Takahata's "Only Yesterday".

look up dali's stuff he does some really strange shit like this and everyone knows the persistence of memory here

also andy warhol is worth looking into... (not too close)

Art Request

The thing about Dali is he is mostly surrealism, which isn't applicable really to contemporary art.

Look up Henri Moore's stuff. That is wacked out contemporary shit. Makes me wonder why the hell I even know his name.

Alas, I've yet to see so many of their works. You can buy most of em for a tenner each in Fopp, but they only have the more known ones.
Can anyone recommend any non-ghibli animated films an aspiring animator should see?

Iron Giant :)

I watched this cool short animated film on BBC in the day time about half a year ago. It was about a group of lads who played football together, then went to war and where part of the playing football on Christmas day story. It wasn't anything fantastic but it was good to watch because it was sort of like you could relate to the animation rather than being perfected. It was all hand done.

I watched a 'studio Gibli' film the other day and thought it was shite. I forget the name.. but a famous one yada-yada. Didn't like it just because I can't like chinese/japanese shit like that. Like the whole way they speak and how there 'mysterious ooh' it irritates me. Spirited away it was actually.

Oh.. actually ignoring what i just said I have the Matrix animations and I really like the one about the boy in the school. I think it was called 'The Kid' or something, i'm sure its on YouTube but with a severe loss of quality.

There was a few on there that are quite good. I like the one about the runner also. The Kid one is by the people who do some jap cartoon I think called cowboy bebop. It's either that one or the Film-Noire like one.

Haha, thats not what luis said, he decided to look at my records, found i only had a couple of bans over the last 2 years. I asked him to look at yours and said youve had 6 (last year)
He also said most of them are maximum length bans i.e 30 days.

Re: Art Request

If you're looking for abstract take a look at Jackson Pollock. Apparently, one of his paintings was sold for more than anyone else's, No.5, 1948.

If you consider pop art modern, then you could look at Roy Lichtenstein's work, hes a favorite of mine. Pop art is one of my favorite styles.

Sadly, Keith Haring is considered a pop art, when I hardly consider him much of anything at all. He drew a lots of homoerotic stick figures.

I don't really know how you categorize modern art, if it is by style or time period. Either way, I don't know if that was helpful but whatever.
