We're using Flash for Nightmare Cops so we'll still be getting a lot of use out of it for a while.

I’ve been following progress on it on Twitter and I love what you got so far! It looks great 😍😍😍
I know the art is being made in Flash but is the coding also in Flash?

Code is Flash but gets parsed by C++.

Amazing! You're all doing awesome work with that.
I'm making the comic reader app in Flash as well, I'm hoping to finish all 3 versions in AS3 and then jump into unity with it for mobile, first version has been coming along pretty good . https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1444202#bbspost26408442_post_text

I've been working in Haxe, which is like coding in AS3 except you can compile to C++ targets and HTML5. I've been working slowly on improvements to some of the libraries as well as a visual novel kind of engine as a project. Slowly because I don't have nearly as much free time as I used to, and I just moved so even less now.

I would love to see more of that engine.

I plan on open sourcing it once it's a bit more developed. At that point, you (might) be able to make games without much if any coding. I'm not so interested in that part, but getting the engine to that point requires a good bit of coding so it works out for everyone I guess.

Glad to still see some names from the early/mid 2000s era. I've missed NewGrounds.

Hey! Here is some news for you Flash Regs:
@Mike pushed a Ruffle update this morning that addresses dynamic text (your lives) and a sound bug that previously made the music shut off. Alien Hominid is fully supported via emulation!

Luis did you see how well it runs and how good it looks in Ruffle? Flash plugin version was running medium quality and was never this smooth.

I didn't realize how far along it was. I wonder if it could integrate with Haxe, without using SWFs at all... A little over my head but it would be cool.

also anything that used HitTestPoint with shapeflag is broken as well
this is getting pretty close though it seems

I recently published Epic Battle Fantasy 5 on Steam, and it's been a massive success for me!
Including the DLC, I've spent 3 and a half years working on it full time - many would think that spending that long on a Flash game is very risky! In fact, I published the free version of it on Kongregate just a couple of months before they stopped accepting new games. I'm now working on porting the game to mobile - still running on Flash/Adobe AIR, pure vector graphics - and it almost works, I just need to improve the performance a bit.
After that, I plan on updating my old Flash games a bit and re-releasing all of them on Steam.
And I may still decide to keep using Flash after that - it's just been working out well for me and I'm not terribly keen on learning a new engine.

Holy crap, Epic Battle Fantasy 1 is totally playable!
It's a little bit buggy - some occasional weird stuff happens, and filters don't appear - but it mostly works perfectly!

It should keep getting better with each update! Looking forward to the blend modes update, that impacts a fair number of movies, too.
