Guys, my exam results are out. I did fine, and my score exceeds the upper quartile of my first choice (Bachelor of Arts), so in all (99.99%) likelihood, that's where I'm going. ^^ (Yes, the baby of the Flash Forum is growing up!)

I'm planning to do a 2nd major in CS, though, so prepare for the Programming forum to be flooded with questions in the near future, lol. They have a game design course, but I'm not sure I want to take it - you need to learn to make 3D games and MMOs in a single semester... I was wondering if you guys have had experience with similar courses?

MMOs in a single semester lololol. 3D maybe with unity, though it'd be more like a prototype than full game.

I'm in a Game Design program at school where we learn to 3D-model and build games using the Unity engine and C#. There is absolutely no way anyone could build an MMO in a single semester lol It would most likely be a prototype that you worked up to throughout the semester. If you have no interest in learning to 3D-model then I'm tempted to tell you to just skip the course. That said, with myself being a programmer and not having interest in making the art assets, I am glad I took all of my 3D-modeling classes as it better helps me understand the tremendous work those people do. I arrogantly felt the programmer was more superior in the team lol After doing all of the modeling classes I for sure now see us as equals haha XD It's a shit ton of work for those people.

I was actually thinking about doing the art and writing for a game (way) down the line. 3D model some humans in poses and then use a skeletal animator (like dragonbones or spine) so I wouldn't have to draw every pose. I'm going to regret that decision, but it might be fun.

Yeah there's very minimal UI in game, but it was turned off for the trailer. There's username boxes above characters, and a chatbox that auto-hides, and some powerup indicators. That's it though

I've been working on my procgen steam game, and it's actually getting kinda fun to dev rather than before when it was annoying. I might have some A/B testing that I need you guys to do for me (feature A vs feature B, do you like this, how can we improve this). AND we'll have a website up one of these days when some more promo art gets done.

I had the black widow for a while before it died. I got the Logitech g710+ which I love so much more. I prefer brown keys over blue for the feel, and it came with o rings to smooth your bottoming out. Plus it's quieter so my roommates don't hate me now.

They should consider merging this and the programming forum at this point.

According to PsychoGoldish the new API is going to be out soon. I've done some reworking of my WebSocker server which will make doing shit with my game server for Newgrounds, which implements it, a lot easier. And a new API to go along with that sounds great.

I'm also probably going to be releasing a beta application soon to give the game server a decent test run. I've already got all the functionality for connecting and authenticating NG users and sending/receiving data to/from said users; I just need to implement it into a program that actually does something, like a chatroom or something. Then if that works out fine I'll use it to make an actual multiplayer game.

For anyone interested in the current implementations, here's the source code for the server and client. That's just a little test-app I wrote that just connects the client and sends "monkey mania" to the server, which will print it out in the console. Pretty simple.

Once again I broke CraigsList. Current update and whatnot.

Aww man, I have to rewrite my haxe impl. Though I never finished the original one, so it's probably not so bad. He told me a while back the new api would be easier to use, so there's that to look forward to.

Still wondering if I should keep it pure haxe or make it openfl-specific to make my life easier.

I'm waiting for the inevitable "client input to a fixed array" that'll allow people to push a complete reverse meterpreter into the server's system.

I am not liking my job and have been away for awhile from developing cool stuff. I want my job to be making games and/or fun interactive stuff. At same time got student loans to pay off.

I feel bad for posting this now, but..

I got a new job and I love it. I work as IT support, but there's not too much in the way of "real" IT stuff since I work in a place full of web developers.
My real job is to take development websites and push them live for clients.

As far as my work environment goes, think Google-esque. Soccer balls, nerf guns, skateboards, pool table and arcade games, etc.
Free coffee and several store-like tall coolers full of just about any drink.
Free food sometimes as well, and there's a lot of clients who give us free or cheap stuff from gratitude or promotions.

Something lands on my desk, I take care of it, then I go back to coding or browsing reddit.

Don't even get me started on my hourly rate..
I get paid way too much for what I do, and I'm okay with that :D
