A secret santa for flash regs basically. The idea in a secret santa is, you get a presant for someone, but they don't know who the presant came from until they recieve it. Everyones name is put in a hat and your victims are picked at random, so it's sorta fun.

That game looks rather sweet. I rather like the death animations for the red ray. The bombs are pretty awesome too, but I'm sure they'll be tons nicer once you can actually asplode something. Once it's an actual game, I'll be sure to five.

I've been playing about with 3D stuff for a few years now, in various formats. Whilst the BR games do use some 3D techniques, I've not released anything with a rotational axis yet. I was working on one with John & Richie, but it fell through. Here's as far as I got with it:

PK Game demo

Arrow keys/ASWD to move, Q&E to switch weapons, space to fire. Hold down fire to throw the grenades and mines.

When I look back on the code now, it's pretty terrible. One day I'd love to get something like this done properly, but I certainly won't be using any of that code!

really though, that looks pretty tight. personally, i've never seen a legit 3d engine on flash before, so i'm mega impressed either way

Well, that still looks really good, regardless. It's good to know that you can do even better now that you're looking back on it, and I'd love to see something like that from you guys. I was jaw dropped by climate chaos seeing as how it's a full game and not just a stupid engine that you can easily find on the web, so seeing something like this on NG would be even more impressive.

I'd love to learn 3D, but theres far more things I need to learn before I even begin. Learning how to use OOP properly would help, and expansion in my knowledge of arrays would help for tons of things. I've seen for loops used in the most bizzare ways, and yet, they work like master pieces.

So I'd love to learn one day. Lol, damn you and your 3d engine inspring me >=D

I sent my gift although I apologise to the person in advance because it totally sucks. I think I did a pretty piss poor job so I am sorry ( I left it late and then hurried it). Got Luis' a couple days ago but also have not opened it yet. Thanks Luis.

I'm kinda new to flash. Just finished my 5th one,. does that count me as a regular flash guy? Mind you, I make "Animutations" so I'm sure I'll get lots of people saying "no" *LOL*

To get back on the subject of Flash: Has any of you guys ever tried rotoscoping? I have a new project in mind with which I want to rotoscope a couple of actors (well actually just me probably), then trace the outlines, slightly edit them and create the characters that way. The rest of the backgrounds and such I want to draw myself, sort of like a 'green-screen' idea, just reversed.

The Path of The Flash Reg

I think of this area as a mini-general forum that is loosely based on the idea that topics should be somewhat flash based. The community is made of those who frequent the flash forum, maybe not necessarily those that submit a lot of flash content. Its a nice place to talk about projects you are working on at the moment or ask other flash artists, animators, and action scripters how they might go about things, more out of curiosity than in a sort of seeking help sense.

No real criteria is needed to post, just don't expect a grand welcome. You may run into some interesting, renowned, animators here as well. Most frequent is Luis, but sometimes Tom from Super Flash Bros posts. I've also seen David Firth post and Tom Fulp.

Smoking

I don't know how some of you feel about smoking. Many of us are trained to think it is one of the greatest evils of the earth, but it us up to you to decide really. I grew up with many friends smoking but never really bothered to try until college. Now I will occasionally smoke cloves. I buy a pack from time to time. They last me weeks because I smoke so infrequently.
If you never tried cloves you might consider trying one, they'll do a number on you if you haven't eaten anything recently though, so keep that in mind.
Smoking really doesn't do much, its more for socializing, or more importantly looking cool. And if you're worried about cancer you shouldn't. That is, unless you plan to smoke a pack a day or more.
Problem comes when I had 6 bucks and around here they charge you 8 for a pack, damn shame really. I took out my credit card and the bill will be shipped to my house. I assume its going to say "cigarettes" just like the receipt. Thats only a problem because I shouldn't need to justify my actions as an adult but I feel I'll have to anyway.

I hardly seem to post about flash. Should I try and avoid this? Lol.

Smoking

This is sort of like an, wel enigma to me. I hate smoking, I hate well people smoke. It's incredbily detrimental to yourhealth, even without the risk of cancer if you smoke casually. Cigarettes taste terrible, and they make your breath smell really bad. But the thing is, I'll stick light up a ciggy on a rare occasion and smoke it down, usually if I've been drinking beforehand, and it really actually bothers me that I do this. I don't have too, I'm not addicted and I've gone ages without a fag and not needed one, but sometimes I'll just involuntarily pick the bugger up and use it.

Of course, I filled with weirdo inconsistancies like that.

Actually, I'm Canadian, but I go to and international school, and some of the Brits there have rubbed words into my soul. Besides, it sounds like I'm being intolerant, which is always fun too.

Cigs

I used to be a real casual smoker. But now i'm up to like 1/3 of a pack a day :( I'm pretty sure i'm almost completely addicted....BLECH.

I hate it, because it's not even incredibly enjoyable when i'm on my own.
