Well seeing as the most generic, unoriginal games generally make the most money, I'd have to say that most of the time it's probably yet another launch game, a pong clone, or a tower defense game.
SteamBirds.

This. $50k games are apparently not as rare as people think. Most of them just aren't public about it, probably due to the sponsor's request.

I like how the double jump felt. Its hard to describe but it had a little give or something and it gave it personality. I think the only thing that annoyed me was when you die and that black fade out circle comes in, its vector (or atleast looks like it) and it feels like a disconnect with the very pixelized style. That's a pet peeve when artists will use these big chunky pixels for most of the game's motif and then have like sprinkled instances of vector or pixels of a dramatically different size with no apparent reasoning behind it.

I've never bothered/been able to work out using Pixel Bender shaders. From what I had heard is that they aren't THAT much faster, though I should try it out to see if it's faster than my current lighting engine...

P.

I did some comparisons between normal filters and Pixel Bender shaders and they run quite a bit faster.

(I had to use a friend's computer to test because my computer doesn't lag no matter how hard I strain it.)

Effect Type -- Average FPS out of 30 Possible

Color Shifting (Flash) -- 25/30FPS
Color Shifting (PB) -- 30/30FPS

Pixelation (Flash) -- 23/30FPS
PIxelation (PB) -- 30/30FPS

Simple Blur (Flash) -- 23/30FPS
Simple Blur (PB) -- 30/30FPS

Color Shifting, Pixelation, and Simple Blurring (Flash) -- 13/30FPS
Color Shifting, Pixelation, and Simple Blurring (PB) -- 30/30FPS

Memory usage is high for PB shaders but the performance boost is worth it.

Have you tested it? Looks good if it works with only minor moderations to the source .swf playback.

It doesn't look like it's very useful. Some quotes from FGL:

It supports a subset of ActionScript 2 / FlashPlayer 8, so basically just stuff you made 5 years ago unless you're a ghetto as2 gal.

And:

It fails miserably....at least with my attempts The ActionScript property System.capabilities is not supported. (1 occurrences) The global ActionScript property _global is not supported. (4 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.getBytesLoaded() is not supported. (1 occurrences) SWF 6 (or later) clip actions are not supported. (4 occurrences) The ActionScript class Sound is not supported. (1 occurrences) An unsupported ActionScript instruction was encountered. (6 occurrences) Filters are not supported. (115 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.createEmptyMovieClip() is not supported. (1 occurrences) The ActionScript function escape is not supported. (2 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.createTextField() is not supported. (1 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.getNextHighestDepth() is not supported. (11 occurrences) Streaming audio is not supported. (39 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.loadMovie() is not supported. (1 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.getSWFVersion() is not supported. (1 occurrences) The #initclip pragma is not supported. (21 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.swapDepths() is not supported. (6 occurrences) The ActionScript method MovieClip.getBytesTotal() is not supported. (1 occurrences) Advanced text rendering using continuous stroke modulation is not supported. (33 occurrences)

And most importantly:

and this... "Sorry, Swiffy currently does not convert SWF files larger than 512 KB.%uFEFF"

Why 30fps? At least stick it at something high to see how it actually performs, or better yet, give times in milliseconds.

LOL, not quite minor changes I think we can say that's a lot more than something major. Also the FP5 won't even work for animations very well, doesn't support filters, if you are silly enough to use them and it might not even support certain tweens. Not used anything below FP8 so could be wrong. Kinda sounds like a fail.

just because I drag something over you doesn't necessarily mean I want to drop it in you.

Maybe if you'd use the actions panel for once I wouldn't be so clingy when you drag files over me. :(

Don't forget July 1st for Canadians. Fireworks in Vancouver were intense. Last one rattled me pretty good.

ever since i have collected a couple pairs, i've wanted to see fireworks with my spectrum splitting glasses. every single dot of light created 50 rainbow streaks in different shapes around it. so the fireworks appeared to be tenfold for me this year. was pretty awesome
