HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Obligator birth-year post.
Also, I've been playing a lot of Assassins Creed II recently, I think it is damn good honestly.
I've kinda stopped working in flash and have moved mainly to C++ and OpenGL. I definitely find it way more difficult.
If you have an iPhone go here:
Download the app and play. It's fucking amazing.

In other news, I got myself an iPad, it's quite magical :)
AFAIK the android packager for Flash only works with AS3 so they would have had to do some serious work to decompile AH and convert it to as3. If they went through all that, then they probably optimized some stuff too...what were the controls?
My experience with Android porting is that the as3 exporter is pretty crappy and you have to optimize your stuff a ton to get it to perform at all respectably on Android.

I expect to be doing a great deal of optimizing to get anything working on the android. But, that just comes with the work. Even AAA titles being developed on a PS3 still needs a ton of optimizing. Having to downgrade a few graphics and challenge yourself to make more efficient code is fun and worth the effort of getting something onto a new, albeit less powerful platform.
Somebody mentioned on this page or the one before about how slow this board is nowadays. I have noticed this over the past year or two as well. To people who have actually stayed active over the years, what the hell happened? 4 years ago when I was a great deal more active, things moved a great deal faster from what I remember. Or am I remembering wrong???

we got jobs

When I first left it was due to me simply becoming more productive. Instead of spending a few hours a day posting, I would spend those hours working. Work and school is more of a factor now.
On that note, I will be working as a software developer for a company in Vancouver called Recon Instruments. They make these crazy GPS enabled Ski Goggles. Looking forward to it.
I think as a new user, the forum and especially this thread is a little intimidating to just jump in and become real active on.
For sure. I thought maybe the slow nature of the board was due to crackdown on spam like projects and collaborations. It almost worked too well maybe, taking away some of the activity on this board by moving it elsewhere.
you were old then and you are old now.
.you just got more lazy and lost your pation :]
some things will never change like i wanted to write don't kidd yourselves but i think i misspelled it like always so i didn't (absurd)
Is it weird I never used switch/case statements? I knew about them, but never saw a real use for them. I've reduced the size of my code by shit tons after proof reading and including them where I could.

I just looked up switch/case statements.
I now wish I knew about this earlier.

I only discovered them once I was learning C# and was like "man, I wish this was in AS3" and some dude was like "dude, they're right there".

Still have my game sitting around for Denvish day. Something about Denvish having to save his family. Good times.

Happy Pico Day Reg Lounge.
I am late.
Also Hi.
Seriously looking forward to getting back into flash over the summer. It's been too long.
At 5/2/11 01:39 AM, citricsquid wrote: denvish lives near me (or he did last time he said where he lived in 08, assuming he hasn't moved...) someone make me a packed lunch (sandwiches, babybel, a carton of orange juice and a packet of crisps -- prawn cocktail or salt and shake) and I'll go look for him. I'll need a warm coat too.
Can I come too?
Having a whiteboard hanging on the wall next to me really boosts my productivity. I can draw things out quickly and list my goals, and after crossing them off I feel more inspired to continue. Odd.

I need a white-board in my life.
So I've been out of the loop for a while. Like, I've missed at least three major portal holidays by this point.
Anyone want to point out what's new and awesome in Newgrounds that I missed over the past eight or so months? It's about time I catch up...

Game jams got mainstream, and movie jams were added.
Speaking of Tank Awards, who actually won?
It's funny how no official news post or an honorary page is made for the tank award winners. Which is strange because *everything* else is documented on the site. Winners of daily, monthly and every other award are listed in the archives, and there's even a front page archive. So how come the most important achievement of all has no epic hall of fame or anything? There should at least be a collection for tank award winners, if not a big, shiny dedicated page.
I mean any casual NG visitor might never even know of any of these tank awards or their winners.
Thoughts?
