Hey guys whats up!
Kinda off all topics, but I need help!
Err, I suppose you could have all sorts of elaborate traps already put in place by the kid, as though he either predicted the chase or has been spending so much time in the area that he has booby trapped everything anyway.
Other than that, some of the best displays of intelligence are shown by using other people, mere onlookers, in your plans - a relatively common example is throwing money in front of a homeless person in order to make them bend down to pick the coins up, and so trip up those in pursuit; though you may also be able to do something like make the boy give a rose to a girl while running by, making her walk out to get a look at the boy, hence getting her into the way of the robbers.
Another thing I suppose you could do to show intelligence is making the boy successfully avoid natural hazards in clever ways, like cutting a clothesline and using it to swing across a gap (though, perhaps something a little less cliché).
Making the boy invest in more long-term plans will also appear impressive. If the boy doubles back at all (an impressive double back could also be used to make the boy appear clever), perhaps having him do something earlier on that slows down his pursuers later would be wise. Creating a traffic jam or marking a tree for cutting down by the local lumberjacks (it's really hard to give strong examples without sense of location or timeframe!), for example, or combining this idea with the previous so that the boy actually sets up ways for him to get back across obstacles, like dropping a rope down a building earlier on which he later uses to climb back up.
If he doesn't double back, doing this is probably much harder, but may still be possible. Cutting into a large vehicle's fuel tank at one point could result in the vehicle becoming stuck on a later stretch of road, causing a traffic jam which the boy slides under or something. Or, he may annoy a person who gets into their car to give chase, appearing later on as the boy reaches a dead end, but the boy simply jumps on top of the car and over the wall previously blocking the path. Or something with animals - everyone likes animals.
My final suggestion would probably be making the boy use the robber's weapons in his plans. If the robbers hurl something at him, have him use it to his advantage!
I know several of those ideas are rather 'meh', but I do hope you find at least one thing you like the sound of. Best of luck!
