Bi-monthly Rant
Holy shit guys! Apple released some HTML demos the other day and they look fantastic!
Apple's HTML5 Demos.
Well. For a given value of fantastic...
So while it's all very shiny, there's a few problems with this whole web standards spiel. Mainly that they're being shown off only in a Webkit enabled browser. Anyone with a Gecko, Presto or Trident based browser can't appreciate the glory of this standardised HTML5 world.
Actually most people with a Webkit based browser won't appreciate it either if the name of thier browser begins with a C. And you won't be able to appreciate all of them unless you're using a Mac. And if you look very carefully at the css you'll notice all that standard "webkit-" st... oh, browser engine specific css? Is that what Standards actually means? Use this OS and this Browser or fail?
Is anyone getting flashbacks to the days of < marquee > tags? Yknow, the glory days of "THIS SITE WAS DESIGNED FOR IE5.5"? The fight between Netscape and Internet Explorer... man... the bad old days of Frontpage specific hijinx...
Wasn't this the reason people started using Flash in the first place?
I know the whole spec for HTML5 and CSS3 is miles away from completion, but surely the use of browser specific tags is a bad idea even in it's development? Unless, yknow, we're judging ALL the Internet by how it renders in an iPhone.
...
Awww man...
Feel ya Kayn. Tried to view your link in Firefox. Nope. Safari only. Does anyone get the feeling that these jokers are trying to have their cake, and eat it too? I've got that feeling, and I'm quite sure it's good for business, as in, the end user shells out more money for redundant, buggy, non backwards compatible, and updated yearly programs. Who would want to stand in the way of progress like that?

Showing off.
Sometimes, I really enjoy my job. The most recent time was the St. Patrick's Day that just passed. I was asked to build a scale model of the Blarney Castle for our town's parade float.
Total Height: 5 foot, 3 inches.
Total Width: 8 feet
Materials: Plywood, Styrofoam, plaster, misc scraps, sand.
Time: 80 hours.
I have more detailed pictures if anyone is curious. Tried to jam as much as I could into NG's specs. Maybe I'll post in the art forum.
That looks awesome, nice job on the little details. I'm having a hard time judging its size, how big is it? And what's your job?
So Luis is going to be in my new animation....

Are you being sarcastic? :( I've been around since 05. I just haven't been on the forums for a while.

lolll. I WAS emo. I remember everyone made a parody of a photo of me and made me look super emo and stuff. Good times, Goooood times. I cut my hair though. It's shorter now and I'm not emo anymore :)

Hehe yeah, I've come to understand sarcasm and text based communication doesn't always work so well together.. When's someone going to come up with a universal sarcasm smiley? :(
Anyway, of course I remember our own little emo kid :)

haha, you're right. We do need a sarcasm smiley. But I'd say i'd be a face that looks like this: O__O or something. hah.
Well how has everyone been? What's new ? I feel like I fell off the face of the earth :C

It's on a 4 foot by 8 foot base, and stands 5 feet high.
I work for the township I live in (government employee ftw) and my 'official' title given to me by civil service is Maintenance Repair, but they generally call on me to do stuff like build miniature castles, or custom paint new teeth on the actual military helicopter at one of our parks.. ect.. ect.
Any of the wacky, creative shit. I built a full-scale replica of a bombed out shell of a building, complete with bulletholes and what not for last year's memorial day float. I'll have to see if I can find pictures.
btw, I'd love to do stop-motion sets, or miniature sets of any variety.
Well, there's the Sarcasm Mark as well as other ways of expressing sarcasm as stated here.

There is a serpent that lives under those bangs. It likes to paralyze Asian fangirls and swallow them whole.
I kind of like Justin Bieber's voice.
In fact I read Bieber Fever every week when my little sister picks it up.
