Woah woah. Windows 7 is a good product?

All I've heard is bad news about it.

I have vista right now, and lemme tell you, it's starts crashing when I open wordpad.
My PC stats are fine, I guess my OS is not.

Vista has always ran fine for me. I have 7 at work and i run into memory issues with photoshop when i have complex psd's, yet i've never had that issue at home, and my pc at home is shittier than the one at the office.

I have vista on my pc laptop but I'm trying to get everything onto my mac so I don't need the pc. I'll probably upgrade to 7 though just incase. I think I'm going to have this mac for awhile...

7 and XP are both great OS's, Vista just sucks.

To be honest I disabled Aero and only installed the basic drivers and I now have a really lush, lightning fast version of Vista which runs hardly anything in the background.

The AS3 UI Components are terrible. You have to find loopholes in the methods of the components in order to get them to work properly.

they used to be terrible in AS2. Now they are pretty good actually.

I'd never use them in a real project cause it's a pain to skin them, but for tech demos and stuff they're great

Should look into a "port" of java's swing framework, ASWing. It seems kind of difficult to pick up at first but if you've had any experience with swing it's very similar (obviously) and not much more difficult to pick up raw.

Only downside is that the library is fucking huuuuuge and takes like 8 seconds to compile which is really annoying.

I always end up creating my own, too, for the same reason. It'd be nice to have some more functional default components for simple demos, though. It's a pain having to remake a component for something you're not even sure will work or will be useful.

The most annoying component is the DataGrid, which would be quite useful if it worked properly.

I'm thinking about getting windows 7 for my macbook pro as opposed to vista and xp. I hear things are good for windows 7 but I'm dreading any slowdowns for my already lightspeed startup times...

The only problem with that is that apple currently doesn't support windows7 for boot camp. You can hack it to make it work, but its not like installing XP or vista which is literally a 2 click process. I think they'e working on it though :/

Also valve announced they're porting all of their shit to mac! After that happened 2 other companies also said the same (including those who make battlefield...i think they're called Dice right?)

But yeah, soon enough all those who are like "ohhh mac's suck cuz u cant play games" will have nothing to complain about :D

So now the games are coming to Mac? Finally.

Here's a quickie. I installed my fav game of all time, Bioshock, on my wimpy 512 MB ram PC.
I bought it for 40$ at GameStop (At that time, I didn't have a PS3.
My pC couldn't even run the menu screen which is pretty much lights and some effects.

It crashed my computer so bad that right when it booted up. It crashed .

That's why I only do 2 things on my computer, Internet and Microsoft Word.

I want to pick 1 of these 2 things since I have some cash saved up
A dune buggy or a Mac?

Ask yourself 'Do I really need a Mac and what would I do with it that I can't do with a PC'

Well I just submitted Newgrounds Radio... It worked perfectly fine on Dumping Grounds but when I put it into the Flash Portal it just stopped working completely; song names weren't being fetched and none of my Timers (flash.utils.Timer) were working... Anyone know what may have caused this?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2010-03-22 13:57:31

Ugh, looked at my code and saw that the SWF relied on accessing the ID3 tags of the songs to determine if it was "broken" or not, and since it couldn't load the ID3 tags, it assumed all of the songs were "broken" so it skipped over them.

I sent Tom a PM asking what I should do. This really sucks, I've been working on this for weeks. I even tested it on Dumping Grounds before I went all-out on it to make sure it would work, and it did. They really need to apply the same limits to Dumping Grounds as they do to the Flash Portal.

and why can't it?

My guess is that NG is blocking my SWF from obtaining that information. It works perfectly fine on Dumping Grounds. It also blocks it from getting the sound data through the SoundMixer.computeSpectrum() method.

Well, your interest in a buggy would seem to suggest you're not a castrated sissy gayboy. Why not go for a modest hardware update and the buggy as soon as you have enough again.

I guess... The buggy i would use like once a month. The MAC, well lets say 3 hours a day.
