looks nice, but maybe you should take out the 'slide' transitions for every single one. mighty annoying.
but other than that, looks great (:

RE: Watchya Working On?
Well, Ive put aside my flash projects for the time being to let some time in to design and get my site up and ready to go. Theres some problems im trying to get through, which might take a bity, small thing irritate me.
So no flash for now. Tell me what you think: The Site CLICK THE INDEX LINK

School Projects in Flash
i've done three school projects this year, two of which were fairly popular (Me by the Numbers was really popular among my geometry class).
The Revolutionary War, and Me by the Numbers. clicking advances through the slides on both of them, and on the Revolutionary War, on the first magnifying glass slide, you can throw the magnifying class. wee. no preloader on either, sorry.
now, how about some links to YOUR guys' school projects done in flash?
A website

You know, if you change the name of the file from Index to index (note the i) it should take you there automatically.
RE: School projects in flash
I always say i'm going to do a Flash project for school, but I never seem to get around to it.
So that was the problem?

Well it works now so I would say so :)
School Projects in Flash
I've done one school project in flash. It was a presentation for my AP Biology class last year. We taught elementary school students some basic biology then we had to make a presentation to go along with a speech for the stations we ran. My two stations were Animal Classifications and Flower Anatomy.
It's full of pictures and with some simple sleuthing, you should be able to pick out who I am.
Link And note that there isn't a preloader, but still about 1.5 megs of swf, so when it pops up, be patient. Wait for a minute or so then just click on the screen to proceed through slides.
Flash For Projects
I've always thought about it but I either didn't have flash at the time or was lazy. I want to do a final project for my Design and Form class but my teacher isn't a fan of computer generated artwork.
Sign Up Date
Anyone notice I signed up way longer than you?
RE: School Projects in Flash
I did a presentation explaining the effect mySpace has on society last year as a final English project. This is the Flash that complemented an essay and a presentation. It doesn't have too much text on it because we were required to memorize what we had to say. Most people did theres on child abuse or depression and stuff so everyone got a kick out mine :)
Re: Flash for Projects
I forgot my second project for school that I made in flash. For health we had to design a product and make a commercial for it. I was all alone because I was away with band on the day he assigned the project so everyone chose groups without me. He said I could jump in a group and go with them or do it myself. I didn't really care for anyone in that class so I did it myself. I made a flash animation and you can check it out in my profile. It's the only animation and also my first submission. Ebola B Gone!
Re: Sign up Date
Yeah I saw your sign up date from back in '02. So why the break? I had never seen you before until last month.

Well...
When I left for school I didn't have a computer. I finally got my computer like two months back, so I started posting in general once I had it. I held off from posting in the flash forum until a few weeks ago, when flash finally arrived in the mail. As my post count will show you though, even when I had a computer I was somewhat picky when it came to posting. Even when I was pretty active I really only posted in the Artist Showcase Thread. That thread ain't what it used to be so I found my new home here.
Cool ideas?
Anyone have any ideas about original ways to go about games/menus which they'd like to share? I'm pretty certain that there are lots of you thinking about how awesome your ideas are right about now :P
I've always liked the concept of taking a screenshot of the game and manipulating it somehow for the game over / level end screens. It should be fairly straightforward to do with the bitmapData draw() method, and seeing as it's an event which occurs only once on rare instances, processer - heavy maniuplations and transformations shouldn't be too much of a problem; you could conceivably have like a second of lag in the transition between two screens without people taking much notice; from console games and stuff people are practically expecting some slight delay when a new part of a game loads.
I'm sorta hooked on the idea of having a Spooks - style inverted final shot of the action for a game over screen. In fact, that's such an awesome idea I think I'm going to use it for my Christmas game...

Yeah, anyone who's ever player beyond good and evil might know what i'm talking about. I thought the pause menu was decent in that, a nice circular interface, looked neat and sleek. I found a pic, but it's pretty tiny, sorry :(.
RE: Watcha workin on?
My christmas game could well be finished right now, I've added all the menus, a last level, top ten scores, how to play and links to sites :D.
Plus I haven't seen a single awesome scoring flash in the portal today (unless I missed them), so I may have a chance this time :P.

Spam Reduction
You know, ever since the introduction of the bold headers, this thread seems less spammier than before. But, I don't think that its really less spam. Its just organized better so it looks less spammier. I'm not sure if this makes it a less chance of lockage though.
Spam
There hasnt been any spam. Period
Mainly because if someone feels like a quick bit of spamming they can be assed because they have to use the bold headers (that might muck up :P)

RE: Spam Reduction
Maybe it makes people realize what they are typing more. Like, the bold headers make them more self-conciense(?) of what they are typing.
reduced fat spam!
th alack of spam has amde this thread a bit less busy though, that may be a good thing or a bad thing, :(
possibly bad

RE: Spam Reduction
Yeah, but now it has a less chance of being locked.
RE: Spam
A lot of regs feel the need to introduce a new topic every time they post. Maybe the introduction of a lot less conversations will save a lot of heartache.

Luis would still have to get liljim (or another admin) to lock this, for the same reasons that Denvish had to get liljim to lock AS: Main.
RE: Spam monkey
I could get this thread locked by jim, its not a stretch of the immagination. But aside from the annoyances some users have with this Nazi way of posting, it is what it is and its not going anywhere soon so live with it or just post in any of the other million topics that dont have this pain in the ass rule on em.
You win some you lose some, cant satisfy everyone like with anything in life.
ANYWAY.
Meet-ups
I was poking around general not long ago and i was kind of intruiged by the interest of some users to get together once in a blue moon. I've met a number of users on this site via comic con/mod meets/ and other assorted opportunities and i think it really is an awesome thing if you ever get around to having the opportunity to do it. It's surreal but a cool surreal cause youre like meeting someone for the first time but you already have had heavy interaction so its like being on a blind date without the akward silences. Anywho, I'm making it my duty next year to continue traveling around and finding other users who'll buy me a beer.
I'll be in montreal this upcoming weekend with pox and some other users for any one in the area lol

I would love to meet someone else who is flash competant some day. I have never met anyone with much knoledge of it. Even when i whent to nationals for animation, the other animators were amazed that i knew how to lip sync and add gtravity to objects....

BBS Awards?
As many of you probably know, around this time of year the General Regs normally run a BBS User Awards thread, where people nominate "n00b of the year", "funniest user", "mod of the year" etc. I know we've done something similar before, I was just wondering if there's any plans for a Flash BBS Awards this year?
Flash awards

I have it so easy at college, tomorrow, photoshop. Tuesday : Day off. Wednesday : Make a trailer for Reservoir Dogs. Just getting music for the trailer now.
I think i'll do a re edit spoof trailer too, like the Shining. Using 'Stuck in the middle with you', and shots of Michael Madsen dancing.

That does sound pretty easy. This week sound easy for me it's not.
This week is a "project week" in which we're meant to finish our C project which is turns out to be harder than I first thought. :(
