If it works this will be the best christmas ever :)

i dont know why they chose to rebel against x-factor by choosing a band thats under the same label.
Its kind of dumb and defeats the purpose of it imo. they shoulda picked something thats under its own label or something absurd like Yanni or Toto or something.

Plus it's a song about anarchy.. I understand that it's funny to have RATM as christmas number 1 instead of a crappy pop single but the lyrics of the song literally say "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me" and theres a facebook group with 1 million people in it, all buying Killing In The Name Of (some people several times) just because someone is telling them to. I hope it gets to be number 1, it is a great song, but it would have actually stood for something if it was something completely different (a band not signed by a major record label would have been great) rather than it just being a prank, which atm it is :P

RATM reaches no.1

Rage actually made it to number 1. What a load of shit. Seriously, I hate people so much at times.

A friend of mine had this as her status on Facebook " F*** YOU COWELL, WE WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL US!". No you'll do what some Facebook group tells you instead. The whole sorry affair reminds me of this.

Also she censored Fuck, not me. Goddamn people are fucking stupid.

I do have a 4"x6" Graphire, but I don't use it anymore, as it has no pressure sensibility, it only works for, like, five minutes straight before getting in vegetative state (the blue light is turned on, but it doesn't move the cursor and neither does it "click" when I press the pen). I've already tried using my friend's pen and it's definitely my tablet.

Recently, it stopped working for a long time and won't come back to life, that's cool though, I'm getting used to a mouse, or at least at flash, as the lines smooth themselves and you're not really making a thousand brush strokes to color something like in Photoshop, which is why I have Ps lying around in my desktop and haven't used it since my tablet broke. Coloring in Flash, or at least as I do it, is all bucket tool and lines for big stroke brush for shading, so I can use the mouse, or at least until I hop on to some serious project, which will mean I'll be completely screwed, as it takes a million years to make a couple of frames. And I took a dump, it's a screenshot from the last flash I'm working on, it involves prisoners, Kool Aid and Tomamoto burping.

I'm not bitter, I'm just upset that the vast amount of young people are just massive self-righteous tools who actually think they've done something amazing.

I don't really see your anger about it, the entire thing is just beautiful. Just because lots of people banded together (myself included) and spent 29p on a song to make this christmas slightly more bizarre doesn't mean we're all blindly wandering around doing everything the nearest radio tells us. Community spirit isn't the same as being a sheep. I mainly did it so we didn't get another easy listening ITV song for christmas, and the only way of achieving this is to group together, and we succeeded.

I don't have the problem with the bands reception of it, and the fact they're giving the money to charity is a great move. I'm a fan of RATM, not just their music but as a band also. It's just like Kirk said, people think they're being anarchists and upsetting the social norm, or actually affecting Simon Cowell personally by spending 29p on a song because someone told them to.

I'd also like to point out that while Killing in the Name sold ~500000 copies, the X-Factor single (I have no idea what it's called, despite the massive publicity it's probably getting due to this campaign) sold ~450000. Obviously that is a lot of dosh (I'm assuming it's not being sold for <50p like the 15+ year old RATM song, so what exactly did the campaign achieve in terms of it's goals? Sure, it's funny, and a good song is #1, but that is all.

Hmm. All I will ask is this:

Since when do ratings have anything to do with quality music? They rarely have in the past, and it's even more obvious now. Don't believe me? Ok...THE GLEE SOUNDTRACK Vol. 2 !!! Sorry.

PS Zach de la Rocha is the king of the fucking tools. I should know. I went to High School with him. I've known smarter furniture.

How is everyone one running out buying the x factor because Simon "told" you any different from everyone running out and buying RATM because someone on facebook told you to?

Why do you even care what's number 1? You've achieved nothing, the x factor single will probably reach number 1 next week anyway. The charts will always be dominated by middle of the road music, that's why they're the pop charts, you've not stuck it to the man, you've not made a statement, you've just made one popular song sell slightly better than another popular song.

I spend way too much time on reddit :[ It sometimes overtakes Newgrounds as my #1 site (on Chromes homepage). I don't like that because I like having the darker NG screenshot on the left rather than as #2, it looks out of place. Might also be a psychological thing - must.. visit.. newgrounds.

Also, had wifi trouble at my parents house (here for christmas of course) and turns out it was because it was broadcasting on channel 1 and the channel is clogged with people nearby using the default settings on their wifi routers.. so switched it to channel 8 and pow, wifi is agogo.. there was absolutely no suggestions that this could be a problem when I was googling things like "no wifi signal" or "low wifi range" etc..

Some guy on facebook didn't 'tell me' to buy RATM, but he started a cause. I bought it out of my own accord, with my money because I wanted to be part of this effort.

The reason why I care about the christmas number one is because it's part of my heritage, and it genuinely meant something to me growing up. It was a part of christmas, as stupid as that sounds, wondering which cheesy song would get it. Then for five years in a row the washed out, dreary X Factor singers won it, and that stupid small bit of christmas was gone. That silly, distinctly British, part of Christmas had been ruined by ITV. Then this campaign for RATM started and it just came flooding back to me what it used to be like when people did care about it rather than it being decided by the masses of relatives buying their niece the new sterile Leona Lewis power ballad that they saw off the tele.

This Rage against the Machine campaign started exactly what I remembered from being a kid: some sort of competition for the christmas number one. And it caused the biggest controversy in 5 years, and I honestly couldn't feel more christmassy because of it. I'm fine with the musical ass-scrapings being number one the rest of the year, and Joe McWhatshisface will be number one next week and probably the week after, but I really couldn't care less.

well that was a pretty cheesy post. I'm sorry for inflicting that on everyone :P

Gentlemen violence is never the answer but sometimes one good way to tone down the problem.

It was my mothers 50th birthday party this weekend. I was a b-day roadie gettin the cake, doin dishes, setting shit up, and doin all this background shit. Late into the night an uninvited member of the party (with over 50 people in one hicks lawn and small shack thing) has the nerve to face wash me with my mothers cake I bought her. The first offense and politely asked him to not do that and that it was not funny and then left to the washroom to clean up. That children is the right thing to do in most cases. No matter how embarrassed or enraged - keep calm and walk away and be honest.

When I got to the washroom he ran up and hit me in the face with a hand full of cake in a much more aggressive face wash. The next part after this I am on the floor with this young wigger defending myself. I don't remember how much I drank and remember this whole thing vaguely. My friends and host of the party tell me I got the worst of it, but got a good shots in and tooled him at the end before my sisters friends stormed in and kicked him out.

By 5 AM he had called the cops and they were there looking for me. He says I assaulted him at my moms party, however my friends told the cops straight out he was uninvited, so he was trespassing, and other obvious shit that made his assault claim look more and more silly as it is. Like provoking me by hitting me with cake in my face, first in a large group of witnesses, and second in a hallway with some girls.

I had a crazy weekend guys. I don't go to parties often these days and this is why - people piss me off. I share this story though because its different and it proves a hard thing bout life. Ya gotta throw a punch sometimes - gotta stick up and defend yourself. You work hard for your mother who raised you to have some punk disrespect her, her party, your work towards making it a good party, and not just you but your family. You do something. (especially if he blinds you with sugary tasty treats meant to eat and then attack like an ape)
