Completely Un-motivated
As usual.
I wanna make a platformer. I can code it, I can draw it. I just cant be arsed.
I might just make it a really slow project...

Not only does it use a lot of the same jokes, it has great actors and actually good sound and video quality. It's not a rip-off it's a remake, to make it more for what American viewers are used to.
Thats exactly whats wrong with it. They use the same jokes, but execute them badly. As kirk said, they totally miss the point of what the office is meant to be about. The video and sound quality isn't meant to be good. It's meant to be equivalent to the video and sound quality of filming a documentary in an office.
They've just totally americanised it and ruined it. They've probably even smothered it with background music to try and 'set the mood' like they did with american idol and the american version of dragons den.
I've heard later series are actually quite funny, and they've stopped ripping off the original, but I just wish they called it something else because it really isn't the office.
I found Ive completely lost any lack of motivation for making games now. I remember when I first started making games I had to force myself to sit down and finish things, probably one of the reasons penguinz took so long in the end.
You just have to keep yourself inspired, fill the time youre not working with art and conversation and youll never wanna stop.
On the subject of American remakes, apparently the Oldboy remake is back in progress. With Will Smith :/
They're trying to justify it by saying 'it's based on the manga not the film', despite the fact that the people behind the manga are taking legal action after the film's producers sold the rights without their permission :s
Sadly, I saw that someone is attempting a remake of Dario Argento's 'Suspiria', and Cronenberg's 'Videodrome'. Both are movies that do not need a remake. To even propose it is sacrilege. But hey, what do you expect from the same studio twits that decided Logan's Run needed to be re-made. Fuck's sake.
I've heard that the Americans are re-making peep show too!!! Cyanide at the ready!!!

You are seriously joking, right? How the hell is that going to work? Mitchell and Webb carry it as it is, but even disregarding that I can't see how America is going to keep all of the dark, edgy humour that make it brilliant :/

Thats what I heard, not sure if its true or not. I imagine what they would do, is keep the same jokes, add a dramatic sound track, some canned laughter and over dramatic actors and then make about 200 episodes of it.
Omg american's suck so bad at the entertainments. freal.

When was the last American comedy to feature someone being raped by a lesbian while thinking about his mother?
Oh lord, quit your belly-achin', brits :P I love UK humour as much as the next guy, but they've leveraged a popular name and created something new with it that honestly turned out hilarious. The problem is that people are attempting to view each one as an international duplicate of the other, character for character, but that's not the case. People are almost *always* going to gravitate towards whichever one they got used to first. As such, I greatly prefer the American one, but I'm not going to say it's 'better'.
However, the American remake of Oldboy IS going to be an abomination that the creators should die for. Will Smith. That's all I need to know. Will Smith.

It gets worse. Word is they're planning a remake of Joint Security Area. On the US-Mexican border. Because, you know, the DMZ between North and South Korea is analogous in every possible way to the US-Mexican border :/
Park Chan-Wook has all the luck

I presume he's to be played by Samuel L Jackson in this one? Le sigh.
I ran 11.5 miles yesterday after getting lost on a University of California campus. I'm tired :(.
Female counterpart had her Bachelorette Party last night instead of running with me. She has survived the night and made it the bridal shower, which was full of bakeware. So much bakeware.
Have a good evening :)
Hi there!
Recreating Images with Evolutionary Algorithms
Sorry for the assholery of that title, I couldn't think of writing it another way.
I made a pointless little flash which recreates an image by adding a randomly coloured, positioned and sized box onto a bitmap data. If this box means that the bitmap looks more like the picture its meant to, it's kept. If it looks less like what it's meant to, it's reverted to what it was originally.
At the moment the boxes are random between 0-20 pixels wide/long. Bigger boxes = less accurate but quicker.
Pointless, but quite fun to make :D
Gunna leave it over night to see what it'll look like in the morning.

why don't you check 100 boxes per frame instead of 1 then?
holy mother of moses, that's one ugly mona lisa >.<
You should all go and see Inglorious Basterds! What a fine piece of filmmaking, much better than I anticipated. Also reached San Francisco, the end of my roadtrip/vacation. I can't wait to get back and start working on my projects again, I'm filled with inspiration and all sorts of crazy ideas.

Or could we say, FOWL play.
Someone shoot me. Ducks aren't even categorised in the 'fowl' line of things.

Thats really cool. The only thing i can think of is that it will never become accurate enough to show much detail because of the 20 pixel boxes. I had it so that there was a good defined nose going on, but then a big plain coloured box decided it was more suitable and so covered it all up. I think it would work better if the boxes started off big, but then over time the size of the new boxes gets smaller and smaller until each one is just a pixel. Its kind of like how when painting the mona lisa you'd use a big paintbrush to start with, but then when you've got the basics down, you'd use a smaller paintbrush for all the detail.
Also, theres a pale line on the bottom and right side from where half the box is off the photo area and it averages some white pixels too.

Here's my attempt (made in about 5 minutes)
http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/230809/4 2886_evo.php
Boxes start off at somewhere between 1x1 to 55x55, reducing over time to somewhere between 1x1 to 5x5
