In 2004 I got really excited about Cafepress and stuck my logo on a couple stickers and a mousepad. It was sort of arrogant to get a mousepad with my own name on it but I couldn't believe how awesome Cafepress was. I've haven't replaced it yet, even though it's really trashy and nasty. Definitely wasn't meant to hold up this long, the top fabric is fading into the cushy foam below.

I think it's fantastic :D You should get a new one. I bet it really motivates you in your career as a developer when you can jusjavascript:BBSPost.Save();t look down at your mouse and be like: "Yeah, I am awesome".

I don't get that logic.

You wouldn't; you're clearly too smart to understand it.

Jokes aside, the idea behind it isn't completely ridiculous. You don't need to be clever to be an officer, and their reasoning of "he would probably get bored" made some sort of sense.
But rejecting people with an IQ equivalent of about 125? Sure, it's high, but it's not like he was in MENSA or anything.

Besides, it could be argued that a smart person is more likely to commit to a job, considering all the thinking they (probably) put into choosing it.

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders. Marginally.

I don't see how the logic is bad at all, and the higher the expense of training the more it makes sense to interview people who are likely to make it their career. 125 isn't that high, but I assume they get plenty of applicants, and you have to draw the line somewhere.

Besides, it could be argued that a smart person is more likely to commit to a job, considering all the thinking they (probably) put into choosing it.

Eh, with the job market the way it is, people are trying to get any job they can. People with college degrees are applying for service jobs and are being rejected for being over qualified, since if they could get a job somewhere else they would, and that means they will probably be leaving within a few years.

I think it makes sense, but whether it's discrimination or not is an interesting question.

Perhaps he should move up and down a bit as he walks? But then again he's a very cartoonish character so its not imperative that he does aye?

Suitability for the job should be the only consideration, if he's too smart and therefore is at risk of being bored and quitting why should they employ him?

In an ideal world that would work. Unfortunately there are still a lot of racist, sexist idiots out there, and at the end of the day the unfair outcome of employing someone with fewer qualifications to fill a gap is far less shitty than the alternative unfair outcome of having a tonne of asshole managers just not employing minorities at all.

It's the lesser of two evils. The change in attitudes that can be effected by keeping these targets justifies a hypothetical 'qualified white guy not getting hired' situation (which would be a fairly rare occurence even in the worst case scenario, and in any case a qualified white guy is hardly going to starve).

Dammit, I think I'm gonna have to cancel my Power of Three game, I tried to avoid this by all means possible, and continue this even though cancer weren't on my side, but this is just too much, I haven't been able to get in contact with SpamBurger for quite some time since he's been hacked, I think it'd be silly to give up, but I see no other way out of here, I'm sick of going to his userpage every once in a while only to find that his user image is still goatse, I'm almost working on pure inercy here, even if I do cancel, I think I can still use the graphics I've made for this game for another game, sometime, although I had a lot of fun working with him and want to finish it, butI think I could cancel the project now and finish the game with him when his account is restored.

Even though if he DID come back, I don't think I would trust to download an FLA from someone who just got hacked by what's probably Newground's most dangerous spam group.

Yeah, me too.
My artist hasn't logged on MSN for a while and doesn't respond to my off-line messages, emails and PMs.
Our musician isn't really involved in the project, such a shame. He wants to make music and sound effects for it, but he talks about the game as if it isn't his own.

Oh and have slept for an hour last night. Go to bed at 11 PM. Sweat to death until 5 AM. Sleep between 5 and 6. Wake up and go downstairs. Great.

Does seem pretty pointless sponsoring a game for $100. Saying that, i know FNC make sponsorships of $20k+, so I wouldnt rule them out as a good sponsor.

As you can see, I'm wearing my sunglasses already.
I'm going to the hot continent of Africa, to explore and discover formerly unknown species, and I will be starting my quest in Schiphol Airport, continuing in Tunisia and back in my mad country, Holland.

Wish me luck on my journey, if I haven't posted on the BBS or my userpage before September 4th, I've died in a plane crash, or my dear companion internet is in a coma or has died. Keep your eyes and ears open for plane crashes in West Europe and Africa.
