Works fine if you've got a brand to sell. But don't sell through someone else - you may as well buy the things in bulk yourself from Brunetto or a local screen printers and sell them over your own e-store (which means dealing with Paypal/Google's overheads, rather than a t-shirt stores ones).
It does rather rely on my knowing in advance roughly how many people are going to buy, though. Any ideas?
Depending on how much of a crafts person you are, maybe you could consider putting together stuff like the Alien hominid plushes that were on sale? I mention that, because Nathan researched it, found a way to streamline his process, got his materials and threw together 100 of them. Used the ng store to handle the storefront end and it panned out to be the fastest selling item ever on the store. I have artsy friends who've also done really well on that front using etsy.com
I think t-shirts are a tough item to start off with. Because usually unless you screen print them yourself youre going to need to invest in a run of 70 shirts or so. I had to do that for the first sketchbook tour and i still ended up with like 10 or so leftover. Whereas if i went with an item that didnt rely on different body sizes i may have been able to get rid of em all.
