You should definitely go to Vegas.

The 24th of July, and Vegas is on the list. I can't wait to lose all of our money and our car in a gamble

No idea what's going on there. I just suppose its some ghost in the player 10 machine.

Googling didn't really help (?!), neither did spamming F5. In IE it works every now and then, the uploading site it's on seems to matter as well, but in FF it always works.. I am officially confused :S

Dammit, it's in situations like this the motivation just drops to the floor.

Hope it doesn't take to long too find it again.

Being able to take your drinks outside and just leave em at a different casino when you finish is unreallll.. im not a fake tits guy so i didnt really care for the titty bars. Other than that it was great tho. Driving into vegas is really cool also. Its literally in the middle of a desert and youll know it when you see it type of thing.

It would be orgasmically amazing if you could turn that into a Dungeon keeper style game. That game goes into my all-time favorites.

Thats the long term plan (as mentioned about a thousand pages ago when I did a vector redraw of the Bile Demon + Mistress + Troll = Horned Reaper combo). But I should be tackling smaller games with this engine first - more than likely Gauntlet style first.

Anyone else bored over the summer? God that is such a lame question. Let me rephrase.. Any one else looking forward to going back to university, college, school?

I'm also really looking forward to getting back to uni. I haven't been that bored at home yet because i've managed to go on a few 'mini holiday' trips with friends, which has been awesome, and i got another one coming up at the end of july. But then after that, i've got the whole of August and September with nothing to look foreward to until uni, which is quite depressing. Also, since i live in quite a remote place, its effort everytime i want to see my friends.

I can't wait to get back to uni, its so cool waking up and you're already with your friends. No need to phone them up and arrange to meet up. Even this year when we're not on campus, everyones still going to be within a 14 minute walk away. I also miss the 'free money' loads. At uni, i basically never have any money issues, but now i'm home i'm shitting myself about it. I'm shit at my job so my boss is rarely giving me shifts, and i got no source of income! I want my student loan back!

The thing i miss about uni the most i guess though is clubbing 5 times a week and meeting random people that you recognise around campus every now and again and have no idea how you know them. Only 10 weeks to go!!!

I'm afraid your drinking age limit is going to be a bit of a pain for me... Regardless, without being drunk it should still be quite an awesome sight.

I wouldnt say i was looking forward/thrilled to be going back to college during the summer, it was brutal work but it is cool that youre around a crowd that is interested in the field you are interested in, etc.

It was alot of work, but college was one of the funnest times of my life.

Alright, I found some of the motivation again and a few some tiny changes and more organized tests: the preloader works in all my browsers (IE, FF, Chrome) when testing on SpamTheWeb, but only in FF on swfCabin.

I figured that the error must lie in the code that embeds the Flash, and that's probably it because they look quite different: STW uses the "good ol' version" while SC uses some kind of JavaScript.

So, the question is how I could possibly fix this within my AS? The sites who uses this JS solution are probably not many, but I hope for a relatively easy fix.

I use a document class Main which loads in an instance of another class Preloader in it's constructor. This uses the root.loaderInfo object to track the progress of the download and sends out an event when the game can proceed.

I realize that this could use a thread of it's own, but this place is probably in need of some kind of Flash discussion. And besides: pretty much all the people on here that have a clue what I'm talking about hangs around in this thread at least as much as on the actual Flash forum :P

As it's the external stuff that messes it up, wouldn't it be hard to solve it internally with AS?

Depends on what the actual problem is, there might be some work-around.

Because I know a load of people keep up with Charlie Brooker, I was wondering how many other people knew he was hosting a panel show (complete with canned laughter... I expected so much better from him...) over on Channel 4. You Have Been Watching [4OD link. Might not be accessible to non-UK citizens and covered in a billion adverts], airing on Tuesdays at 10pm.

Might only be me who's out of the loop here. I've not been watching anything from Channel 4 since it's Big Brother season again...

Anyway, listening to this at work, with Charlie on his usual misanthropic form, has been good fun. Especially when they get up to the show that is effectively the entire Pirate vs Ninja meme meets Mythbusters and a LARP group. Although having looked at Wikipedia I see that they failed to actually put the Pirate up against the Ninja, possibly because the amount of hate mail they'd attract from disgruntled Internet folks would deforest most of South America...

So abortion, what's your views on that guys?

I am Pro-Choice. If the mother doesn't feel like she can handle having a baby, let her abort it. I honestly don't care why anyone else cares, it is purely the mother's choice and it doesn't effect anyone but her and her baby.

I'm for abortion only up to a certain time. However, I don't see why people are totally against it no matter how much time has passed. A fetus at 1 month is no more human than a sperm cell...

I agree with you. As long as you aren't hurting anyone but yourself, I don't see why the government care. I mean cmon, its my body, not yours, why do you care?

If the mother wants to abort, theres probably a good chance the father is outta the picture.

The reason people care about time is because after the first trimester the baby is capable of thinking and brain activity. Some justify a child as sentient at this stage but not before.

Yes I agree with that. What I was talking about were people who say the moment a "child" is conceived it is human, which I disagree with.

Sod that, I think the moment a cell is formed is constitutes a human. Shaving is a nightmare.

Penn + Teller : Video Game Violence

Best episode they've done, funny and finally some proof that we shouldn't listen to idiots like Jack Thompson.

Abortion

Good to have a debate going :3. I think it's the parents decision to abort an embyro, i'm not sure how you would do it legally though, because if the father wants her to abort, but she doesn't want to, they aren't exactly going to restrain her and do it. And if the father wants to keep it, but the mother doesn't, then the mother yet again wins (rightly so really).

But it's not a thing that should be dealt with by law, this whole separation of pro-life and pro-abortion always confused me, why is it not a personal decision with what to do with your body (including the embyro)?

People are stupid; you can't trust them with their own bodies.
Obesity, suicide, drug abuse, etc.

Gah, people are stupid. This is why I'm against pro-life AND pro-choice. I'm all for pro-abortion.
