hey guys! i just read toms post about the 3 thing and i thought it was an awesome idea!!!
now, what i was thinking was that i come up with the ideas and you guys do the code bit! im really good with stories and i was thinking about making a shooter game apart from i wont be making it. you will! lololol

Yeah, expect some of these posts in the near future.

Collab Forum
It would be a little empty, considering we only get so many collabs going on. We could allow it so anyone could make a collab/team, but then we would get layer upon layer of filth being posted every day.
Maybe there would be some way of separating those collabs which meet the requirements (or are chosen by a mod) from those which don't, while keeping them in the same forum (we don't want collabs all over the place, or people won't know where to look/start one).

What makes you bring it up; Tom's post?

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders. Marginally.

Hey its dim! It's never dim! Thats a first :P

I'm also going into it as an artist, and fortunately, Morgan Dawn and I are already an army of 3.

This is gonna be so sick

Move along bastards, I'm joining this competition!

By the Power Of 3Skull

Sounds good, but with A Level/GCSE exams i doubt i'd be reliable enough to work with anyone. Still, if anyone has any good ideas, hit me up and i'll see what i can cobble together.

Anyone interesting in an AS3 coder using classes, I'm interested.
I'm not brilliant but I'm decent.

Mike sent me this link a little while ago, i thought itd be boring but its kind of interesting. I can almost picture Skynet and its terminators running around.

Power of 3 sounds awesome. I think its definately something I want to get invloved in, ive never properly done a newgrounds collab and this seems a good place to start!

Any decent programmers got any good ideas? I wouldnt mind teaming up with another artist either, it would be nice to concentrate on backgrounds or characters or special effects and would mean the art could be AWESOME :)

Hmm, ill think about it over night.

I've had a few artists PMing me but none are very good :( Not cool.

Also, Wolfram Alpha looks great. I use Google for a lot of things, the calculator is really top notch, this looks like a step up from even that.

Sup, bitches :)

how about me? if you need an example you could always refer back to my john travolta loop.

but then again, i'm not the best at backgrounds.

but then again, i could get my friend Joe to design them, and no one would be any the wiser...

Wolfram Alpha looks awesome, it seems like I'll get my information from there sometime.
Btw the Power of Three seems to have been quite the craze today. I doubt I'll do something for it but I may, if anyone needs a coder... :3

Wow, that looks like one amazing system. The fact that it picks out the individual words to form coherent search subjects is baffling. I can't wait for that.

That Wolfram Alpha is fucking SWEEEET! I use Wolfram Mathematica in math really occasionally, but holy crap!

I'm at a block in the road. So I have come to this point where in my game with N. Milburn, I need to code in the physics of a box. Now, I've been trying, but I have yet to do rigid bodies in physics and I'm having some trouble.

I've tried coding the four points separately, coding them around a center, etc. but it's really hard. Any help would be appreciated if you know what you're actually talking about.

By the way...I use FlashDevelop. That means it's hard to incorporate those physics engines that are premade, at least that's what I was under the impression of...So don't just recommend Box2D (and the others) unless you know you can fairly easily do it with FD.

Woot for triple post. I just figured out how to use Box2D in FlashDevelop. *sigh*...I'm retarded sometimes. It has some quirks at first glance, but I'll work on it.

I can't make this third post useful, can I?

Using engines works exactly the same as in Flash or other programs. What are you talking about. >.>

I'd recommend motor2

http://lab.polygonal.de/motor_physics/

It's based on the same code as Box2DAS3 - the original Box2D, which was written in C++. Motor2 is not only faster, better written code, it's not got the awful c++ naming conventions from the original like Box2DAS3 does, so it's a lot easier to use.

Power of 3
Whoa, reading over the forums I can see everyone is crawling out of there box and looking for people to work with. I mean everyone.
This is going to be so insane, if you win this competition the amount of publicity you will achieve will be amazing. Life changing perhaps?

Makes me wish I could still use flash, maybe I should get back into it as I pretty much have an unplanned year off.

Someone steal Denvish.

Our programmer Joey has been touching all the physics engines and benchmarking them... so far the Glaze engine seems to be fastest for him. But of course, you find the one that works for you. Some have better application for whatever you are doing.

I've been doing exactly that here at work, even fished out Andre Michelle's old PopShapes engine to check it out! I'd be interested in seeing what metrics Joey looked at, I managed to get info on the various object creations, freefall run speed, collision resolution time and joint force calculation. Glaze is also reeeally good, pretty much neck and neck with motor2
