I finally got the CD through from the animation workshop where I was helping teach kids to use flash. Here is the one I made in like 2 hours, during which I was constantly having to get up and answer people questions/do it for them. Was really fun. The biggest problem is the lack of sound. I only found out the computers had sound working right at the end so there really isnt much there. All the pictures, practically, are cliparts the class leader had prepared.

i can hardly see it. you need to contrast it more. make your name's text darker.

Your right doesn't matter if you've got a tablet if you don't have a talent it just makes a small difference. I don't have talent for this stuff but I like it, so I'm not gonna spend money on a tablet if I don't need it. Although don't have talent I have perserveerence.... in other words I'm going for a style now. I think everyone can do a certain style I'm actually kinda good with the new north american/animeish cartoon network looks of Foster's Home, the X's, and those kinds of styles, and of course the limbless style is my favourite that way I don't have to have different layers for limbs! lol. But seriously unless your a really goood and serioous flash artist then a tablet is just a waste really.

Changing the color won't do much to make it more legible. You're going to have to do a thick outline or something.

On the debate about tablets I have to say that I cannot use a mouse to draw well, I have tried but it is really hard for me and especially since my Graphire 3 broke I haven't been able to draw on my PC due to me being adjusted to a tablet.
Some people are saying that the tablet and the mouse can create the same effect but the mouse takes longer, the problem with that assumption is that people prefer certain artistic tools for the effect they can create, no matter how noticeable it is.

I was like you for a long time, but I've drawn so much with a mouse I actually draw better using a mouse then by hand :O

I had gotten my tablet a few months after having Flash and before I had Flash I would just use my PC computer for AIM and gaming, so I never really drew with the mouse.

I've been thinking for awhile about some site I can use to showcase my own personal stuff. Kind of as an online portfolio and kind of just a place I can do my own thing.

With Heartless Geeks, its a duel effort between myself and the co-founder, but... if for some reason, shit hits the fan with us... I want somewhere that my stuff is, plus a place to show potential employers programming stuff, art stuff.... whatever.

Anyway, I had a huge debate going on in my head. I really, really like fucked up imagry and was going to go with something like the following as a name for the site.

Well, here came the solution. Keep Krysys.com and utilize it, but give it a total makeover... total.

I'm trying to find that mix of Edge and professionalism. Something I won't be afraid to show employers, but also something I can have fun with and people think is cool...

Anyway, the point of this post... I did the logo. I tried to get the fun, but keep it watered down. If I had my way, it would be Satan raping Jesus with barbed wire, while princess toadstool masterbated to it..... but I guess I can't always have my way.

This is what I settled with.... and what I'll probably re-theme the site after.

I know its just a logo, but a logo is powerful. It can speak volumes about something before anyone knows what it's for.

Theres a lot of production companies with quite edgy names, I notice it alot with TV programs. Well not so much edgy names but strange one, for example Nipple.

Problem is I'm not a production company or anything... I'm going to be just another shmuck with a degree trying to land a job in a demanding field. I need to stand out, without being offensive... but I can't be cliche either...

Havent seen it, though I shall try to. Im not actually gonna go make a matrix parody, I just liked the idea of a stupid sounding screename that most people have instead of the ubercool Neo.

I agree with Tom, Prom queen suicide has more appeal to it, because it makes you say prom queen suicide wtf is that all about, and so you spark a persons curiosity.

I think that when figuring out what to do for a portfolio its important to show your personality, theres thousands/millions of portfolio's out there, businesses generally want someone that sort of adds their own flair. At the same time, do you really want to create something that is more 'professional' and cookie cutter if thats not what you eventually want to be doing for a good chunk of your life?

I would include both, something edgy and something clean and professional, show some range in your work, show people that you can wear a tie and you can also rock the acid wash jeans if the situation calls for it.
