Little Big Planet thingie
Level design is a pain..you never know what's gonna work till it's done.
Remember Banjo Kazooie, is it just me, or did that have some of the best level design ever.
Why can't games worlds be more like that.

I want to go to Spain, to test out my Spanish.
In other news, does colliding with a car going 15/20mph count as being 'hit by a car'? It threw me about 5 meters and I did a little flip. Rather embarrassing, but I decided to just press onward to school and not make a big thing out of it, as it was mostly my fault.
I'm so unlucky right now, first I get robbed then old men start running me over :(
No broken bones though :D
One thing you start to see in LBP design is that you don't really want to play levels created by people who have no experience making video game levels. While that seems sort of snobbish I kept going back to the levels they created for the Adventure mode because a lot of the user-created levels were rather weird or didn't work correctly... and sometimes were just unfocused and hard to play in. Although some were just amazing... I can't discredit everyone out there because some things were just brilliant... after you waded through all the other levels...
Hi there!

How is that embarrassing? That sound's like an amazing maneuver. Scarily, exactly the same thing happened yesterday morning to someone I know, on the way to school. I'm not sure about doing a flip though.
Level design and it's gheyness
In the game that I'm (meant to be) making at the moment the levels are made from a bitmap, so you draw a top down level, where grey is destructable terrain, black is hard walls, red dots generate baddies, green dot generates goodie etc. Then when it generates the level it reads through every few pixels and makes what the colour indicates. Its quick to generate, levels are easily made, and it opens up a bunch of opportunities to have custom levels made by users then stored someplace to be used by anyone.
Which reminds me, anyone know how to convert a string into a byte array?

I don't know, it's just there were a tonne of eyes on me as it was busy. I just had to get up and limp away while they all just stared before continuing to drive. Last time when I cycled into a car some woman started shouting at me, but this time it was just silent :/ The driver got out of his car, but I just told him not to worry and that I was fine. My brother seems to think I should've made a claim though...

Wow, excuse me for killing the conversation, I blame Hugh Laurie personally
In other news, avast! doesn't like Denvish's website. :3

Oh FFS I've done all I can to get rid of anything that might cause that. All ad frames are gone, all links to planetbob.net (went up for auction, now owned by some bulgarian twat) are deleted, so WTF IS CAUSING THOSE ALERTS. It's seriously annoying the shit out of me, I can't see ANYTHING in the HTML or Flash embeds that could trigger virus/spyware warnings. Help me out, guys. I'm not getting revenue from the site but I don't want it to die because there's malicious code on there.
Who wants to text and talk outside on NG? Hit me up in a PM with your number, if your cool, I'll text you mine ;)

Frames! Oldschool! :)
Still, a quick google tells me that avast seems to think your page is running an invisible Iframe exploit, maybe because you havn't set a width or height to your frame? I know you've used rows and cols, but newer stuff might not look for that...
Best alternative is not to use frames at all, just have your header as an include with PHP. Avast really can't complain then!

THATS WHAT SHE SAID!
Patience
Anybody up for a patience test?
To get the ball rolling a little, I decided to do a quick project of
an idea i had the other day. I think it turned out quite nice, too.
Game; Fervor.
Objective; You wait. That's it.
Whoever waits the longest gets a pat on the back.
Yeah. Complete with high scores (courtesy of ArmorBot,) and
it also keeps track of your personal highest, and lowest time.
And I finished in less than 24 hours. :3
But the real question is
WHO CAN WAIT THE LONGEST?
Might upload to NG soon...
what

WHO CAN WAIT THE LONGEST?
OMG that could totally be a huge flash game. It logs hours of "how long you've been waiting" and it will tally everyone waiting on a huge internet scoreboard and the person who waits the longest wins...until someone waits longer >__>
I hear Luis is making it actually~
I use DIV's inside tables inside DIV's for my layout. Inside an iFrame. Inside another table.
Trolling.

IMO lame... but if you do want to upload it, use mochi scores, armorbot sucks, loads.
Resident evil 5 meets my expectations. (from my 2 hour first impression)
Funny how I say that about a game for once, but it really does feel like resident evil 4, which was pretty much what my expectations were.

Yeah, I have to agree that there isn't much change, but I still like the game. It's just not scary any more, although Co-op is quite good.
Spitballing here
Now that I make some money developing games every now and then I've been interested in how things work from the sponsor side of things. So I've been thinking of throwing a small Flash portal together. Now, my idea was to only have one game on the site and host that on the frontpage, the site would basically have only one page (well... maybe a page for contact information or something like that), and I would put a new game on there probably every two or three days. My experience is that most people won't play a game several days in a row, they just want some quick entertainment, so once a new game is uploaded I throw the old one away. Then I would target the site at people who just want to play a quick game (like bored officeworkers). Do you think that would work?
By the way, I'm going through with it anyway (it'll only cost me 60 bucks or so) , and I plan to release the site in a day or two.

It wouldn't take much more to have an archive of previous games, plus that increases overall potential page (and more importantly, ad) views. It's a pretty good idea, if you market it well then it could be quite a hit.
Sup, bitches :)
