get a guitar off ebay (a real one) and learn.
do it, learning an instrument is worth the time and effort it takes.

Who here plays an instrument?

trumpet 4 years, and bass guitar almost a year.

guitar is overrated, bass guitar > treble guitar ;P

I played Drums for a term in sixth form. I keep doing my stick exercises regularily, but without an actual drum to bang on they're terrible

I can keep a single stroke paradiddle going though. Might buy myself an Arbiter Flats kit and hide it from my parents.

My brother's picking up guitar though. Which might explain why he regularily beats me at GH and can five star the Breaking Wheel / Artillery song on Expert. Told him to learn Free Bird.

Shame he lost half of it...

I'm starting to come up with a theory about how they select the tracks.

1: Include ONE track that people will otherwise say "Where the hell was [insert track here]"

See: Ace of Spades, Free Bird

2: Include a niche Instrumental Track that not many people have heard of, but when they DO hear it they say "Oh yeah... THAT!"

See: Frankenstien, Psychobilly Freakout

3: (Guitar Hero 2 Only), Include a title track from a film / TV show

See: Misirlou (Pulp Fiction), Jessica (Top Gear). Guitar Hero II Compensates for the first...

4: Rip half the GTA 3 Era of games (3, Vice City, San An). They've already got most of the excellent tracks already...

See: Killing in the Name, Unsung, Free Bird (again?), Madhouse, Bark at the Moon, You've Got Another Thing Comin', Strutter, Mother

5: Add some other tracks that people just can't help play Air Guitar to

See: Smoke on the Water, Iron Man, Message in a Bottle, Sweet Child of Mine,

6: Cycle through those lists until you've finished each level.

Then for the extra songs take something by Made in Mexico (eep), Freezepop (eek), anything the staff are working on, and release game knowing people will start demanding "Stairway to Heaven" soon enough...

Oh... and don't forget to add Homestar Runner Reference to one of the games.

I've been playing percussion in school for 6 years now. I started on bells (a high pitched mallet instrument) in fifth grade, then moved onto drums and auxiliary in middle school (6,7,and 8th grade). In ninth grade I was top of the league in freshman band. Now I'm in my school's top band, and the third best high school band in the state and I'm playing primarily auxiliary during concert pieces, sometimes I'll swing over to mallets. When we march I play snare though, and marching snares are fun :)

In the mean time, go get one of these:

Only £130!

They're brilliant for the price

I would like to get my hands on an electric drumset myself. I haven't really played much set, I've been more of an orchestral player myself.

I also want to get one of these beautiful things. Watch the videos. You will have 6 ounces of drool running down your chin and soaked into your shirt or your money back guaranteed!

Not bad , but I'm guessing they have a completely different feel to standard drums. So if your practicing on two different textures it may get annoying.

Anyway, new sig, whadya think?

Meh, its just like playing on a practice pad.

It's nice, but I think the sky in the back could use a touch blue or purple.

Yeah, they are a little different, but getting the feel of the layout of a drum kit is very important, since drums are probably the most physical instrument you can play. Fancy e-drums come with canvas heads that not only feel like real skins but are completely silent too.

My first practice kit was a Yamaha DD-50 - imagine an electric kit with all the pads put as close together onto one plastic board as possible. You can pick those up for around £50 these days (hell, if anyone wants one I'll sell them mine). Just like any kit with rubber pads, its not totally silent, but you can rock out with headphones and only slightly annoy your parents with the rhythmic tapping.

Playing a full sized kit (even with tiny pads) is so much better though, you can really get into it.

Tom~

I e-mailed Tom since I've talked to him via e-mail before, so he'd know I was the real owner of the account.

You should make sure you use obscure words and numbers within those obscure words. The stronger the password, the better off you are. Using simple words together are just going to get hacks.
