I just got my PSAT results; apparently I scored better than 95% of american college students in mathematics and better than 91% in writing skills. I'm pretty happy because at least I got a proof that I'm not mentally handicapped - which my current grades at school pretty much suggest. im gonna try to actually study when i do the SAT

im in a good mood right now :)

who wants to make a flash game? >:c

Macbook Wheel

That seems extremely stupid, and their claims that it makes typing easier, though it does the complete opposite of that. If that type of technology becomes compulsory (at some point in the future), I'd keep using a computer with a keyboard, it's far easier and quicker. Mind you, it may all be a piece of shit, since I don't know if 'Onion' is a credible news source.

That looks quite nice. I may or may not download that later. If I do, I'll tell you.

At the risk of you actually joking, I'm just going to go ahead and say that the onion news network is a fake news website.

It's got good online options, 8 player co-op, 60 player online. Not the best game i've ever played, but the story isn't bad and the weapons are good, but yeah, it's pretty simple. I'm looking forward to KZ2, comes out on me birthday :).

I forgot how much computing wanted to make me cry (first real lesson since holidays, the only other 2 were exams; the rest I had exams so missed). A whole lesson of people trying to do arrays, even when we've spent 2 lessons on them before. Estimated time of completion: 10mins.

Then I just browsed xkcd :P

On brighter news, I finally told mother about meet. I can definitly go if I find someone else who will go with me (as in irl), which I probably can't. But she said I can probably go, she's gonna check with dad when he gets home :)

I R HOPEFUL

I'm lovin the comments for Resistance, We ALL MUST GAME IT UP SOON! (buying it tonight)

DAMN TWILIGHT FANGIRLS

So my GF sent me this link yesterday and it completely made my day, and at the same time made me go "holy fuck are you serious?!"
THE OFFICIAL TWI-TARD ATTACK DIRECTORY
This here is a big list of attacks from Twilight fans. All from people who have said "Yeah the book wasn't my cup o' tea" or "The movie wasn't the best movie ever"

Theres a story about how 2 girls IN GRADE 6 tried to drown a grade 5 student in a toilet because they said it was bad O.o

a personal quote of mine, takes place right after he tells her "twilight was an average book"
She just stares at me angrily for quite a while, then obviously seeming to have decided on something, wrapped her hands around my throat. Shocked, my hand automatically shot up and hit her across the face. She continued to choke me, and out of anger and panic I kicked her square in the stomach. She released her grip and fell back against a table. Furious, I ran towards her and slapped her multiple times.

Finally my classmates tore me off of her and the substitute took me and the bitch up to the principal, where she got a weeks detention and I got two days. Not bad I guess, seeing as I made her bleed a little.

Just thought i should share :P it will bring you entertainment if you're bored :D

Argghhh. I knew that lol. I guess I was using == so much that I accidentally put == instead of =.

= sets a variable and == is used to check for equality. I'm not that much of a noob.

Hey guys!

Been working on an engine over the past few days for my uni project... This is the first proper game ive coded and im using AS3 which ive never used ... Ive managed to make quite a nice little platformer engine though, which im really pleased with :)

The basic idea of the game will be that you are in a dream world, the twist being you have the power to switch from dream to nightmare and back. Youll have to solve puzzles and get through the levels switching between the 2, kind of the way games like SHIFT work.

Im really excited about doing all the transitions between the 2 worlds and have some great ideas bubbling up already... This is just a test level and the engine is still really early and buggy, im an as newbie :P

Let me know what you think!

Cool concept, and it looks nice as well. I can't help with the coding bit because I suck with that. Only thing I can think of to comment on would be to perhaps make the nightmare portion more nightmare-y, or a more striking contrast. I'm not sure how dark you're wanting to go with it, or how 'twisted', I suppose, but it seems to be just more like night time, but the building change is cool. If you want a good example of contrast between dark and light, check out some stuff on Prince of Persia (the newest one). That game does it incredibly well, and perhaps might spark some ideas.

Also, I need to post here more and lurk less :/

Looks great, and original :D. It reminds me of Chrono Cross (sequel to Chrono Trigger), where you like...change worlds and you have to go to one world to do something and stuff. Yeah, I'm nerdy.

Theres one thing I noticed (even though this is just a test level) was that if you really tried to you could get through the whole level without switching to the nightmare. Which I'm assuming wasn't intentional. Also, as some other people said, make the nightmare more nightmarish.

+5 points for anyone that can tell me what this mystery function I wrote does:

int _(int __,int ___){if(___>0)return _(++__,--___);return __;}

Recursive functions :D
Give it two ints, if TWO is greater than zero, up one, lower two, until TWO is not greater than zero.. then return ONE.. at least that's what I think it is :<

here is a better one (fully c and c++ compatable)

#include <stdio.h> #define _____ return #define ____ int #define _______ "0x%X" ____ _(____ __,____ ___){_____ ___>__-__?_(++__,--___): __;}____ __(____ ______,____ ___){_____ ___>___/___?_( ______,__(______, --___)):______;}____ main(){____ ___ ;printf(_______,___=__(19,231));_____ ___/___;} /*change the numbers for different input*/

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-01-16 01:45:03

adding 2 numbers together:

unsigned int add(unsigned int a, unsigned int b){ unsigned int c = 0; int carry = 0; for(int i = 0; i<32; i++){ int b1 = (a>>i)%2; int b2 = (b>>i)%2; int res = (b1 ^ b2) ^ carry; carry = (b1 & b2) | ((b1 ^ b2) & carry); c |= res << i; } return c; }

Yo J1mp! Cool stuff man. I'm loving the style of it. My one suggestion is play around with the lights and darks of the nightmare world in particular. I suggest using some whites and light blues to highlight the tops of the castle. Use the moonlight to contrast the darkness of the whole world and it'll make the lights look lighter, and on the hand, make the darks and shadows look more dark and ominous. I thought it could look cool is used correctly. Play around with it.

Awesome concept though, those Switch games are real fun, and this looks like quite a step up from that. Keep it up!

Cheers for all the comments!

I agree that I need to make the transition from dream to nightmare more apparent, I want to add background and foregrounds details, for example have the castle in the middle of a siege when you change over. There are so many possibilties for things I could do, I want to make each level realy well thought out and better than the last. We have until the end of march (by we I mean the group of five people on the project....) so theres plenty of time for planning and ideas.

Damn, I hadnt seen any games that use the idea! Any idea what its called? Is it like, exactly the same as this?

Yeah I know what you mean about the contrast and colours. Im not happy with the blue tint thing I have going on now, I like the idea of it being kind of shiney and wet and reflecting off the moon (hmmm maybe it coule be raining in nightmare mode?)

Cheers for the tips man ill have a play around :)

Very nice, well coded and a good concept. It will be better when there are more effects/sounds when changing between dream/nightmare. Good so far though, great art, neat coding, looks promising :).

It is a brilliant piece, must have taken a long time to do. I'd love to see more good graffiti, when you see some amazing stuff it looks great, but writing your tag on a wall is boring and pointless. It's like a dog urinating on its territory.

Sort of.
