RE: Serious security flaw in all versions of ie

Thank god I removed IE from my windows computer years ago.
I know a good handful of people that got hit by this.
sucks for them

Google chrome is best for security, especially for people like me who like to have a shitload of tabs open. Each tab acts as a separate program, which means that if you have a midget porn site open on one tab, and your paypal account on the other, there won't be any communication between the two tabs, which reduces theft a lot. It also means that if you get an error on one tab, you won't have to close your internet browser and lose all other tabs - you just close that 1 tab.

Gotta agree with ya. Google Chrome is great! I was a little wary of it when it was first released but I'm glad I downloaded it now. Browsing the web is faster and even looks better with Chrome's very minimalistic browser window.

There is also the Private browsing which can be good for when you're shopping for a nosy person's gift online.......
LOL who am I kidding? Its great for porn!

You know when your dad is like, "Son, it builds character to perform manual labour!" Think of all the character you are missing out on when you just write a code to do something.

That's why I mow the lawn with a pair of scissors.

Because if he hand coded it, that would be a little funny. :]

And speaking of AS3,
today i was quite proud of myself for making a code
that picks a specified amount of random numbers
from 1 to Another specified number.
You can even make it so there are no repeating numbers. :]

I thought that was 'pat-on-the-back' worthy for
an amateur programmer like myself, lol.

Anyone like coding sidescrolling shooters? Some people might remember me and Vengeance posting about our game Penguinz aaaaages ago. Well, I finished all the art work but development on the coding side of things grinded to a halt ages ago.

I decided I want to revive the project, as i have loads of art for it and the demo shows real potential!

If anyone is interested in recoding the game give me a PM, Ill show you a demo of the game to give you an idea of what youd be making!

gameplay video

Ive already been through like 3 coders with this game and they have all given up on me, so I want some one I know I can rely on to finish the project and do a good job!

Well, what's the catch of the game? What makes it special? I don't mean to offend your game, but in my eyes it's just another one of those shooters except there's penguins instead of zombies or whatever.

What makes it a unique piece of art?

oh damn im becoming too much like those bloody animators

Well at its heart its just a simple shooter I guess. I really like the way games like Staggy play, but there arent actually many good shooters that use that kind of game play. I wanted to make something that was addictive and people would go back to time and time again for highscores and to save up for the bigger weapons and expensive items like a rocket pack and things.

Ive got some nice cutscenes for it aswell and I think with its fast gampley and nice graphics it could definately be called fairly unique :)

But yeah saying that, if anyone has any cool ideas I wanna give the coder some creative freedom so Im not going to tell you what to make line by line!

I had to code one a year ago in AS2. Handy hint - 00,33,66,99,CC,FF and three for-loops...

Cool.

This week I made a terrible line of sight raycaster and a gesture recognition system using the Levenstein Distance algorithm (because someone made a thread asking for a coder to do it, and I wanted to know if I could do it myself... turns out, damn easy...). All in AS2, so obviously not the kind of thing I'm gonna share because it's an inefficient pile of tripe...

Functional languages make everything look like an inefficient pile of tripe; even if it's made in a wobbly language it's still interesting.
A target of the programming language I'm 'designing' as some might have heard at some point is to have functional appeal but collect enough info about itself to generate elegant equivalent imperative code.

This is why programming should be started with data-oriented tasks. :/
You can randomize an array by looping over and switching its items. One line of code.

you can do it with one for loop too...

i%6*0x33 + (i>>8)%6*0x33 + (i>>16)%6*0x33

One line of code? Arg; god damn it.
I made mine in 34 lines,
two functions, and 5 variables;
including an array to put it all in, and a boolean
that error checks to see if you told it to do something like
'make 5 different random numbers from one to 4'
which obviously can't be done.

Oh well, practice makes perfect. :]

By different, i meant that you
cant have the same number twice in one of those.
Which is impossible because if i told you to pick
5 different whole numbers from 1 - 4,
you'd run out of numbers to pick.

Simple misunderstanding; probably my fault for not explaining too much.

You didn't specify that it should be whole numbers in your last post, just numbers, so from those guidelines Glaiel is correct. I don't think that he misunderstood you though, he just wanted to point out your mistake in his own way :P
