Living in Leeds [kinda] (which is near Bradford. Kay) I don't have a shortage of taxi drivers and don't think I've ever had the same driver twice, but I still do just stop them in the middle of the street. It's impossible to get them to your exact house in my street, it's terraced housing so they have no idea what house is what.

Hah, AMIRITE AMIRITE?
Haha, that's exactly like my mom, she kept asking me if what I'm doing is legal, and if sponsors are drug dealers or something. And when I get stuff from newgrounds she gets paranoid. It has helped getting some ad money checks in the mail, because then she kinda realizes it can't be some illegal drug company if they're sending me checks.
Mine too. If I mention anything computer related she just doesn't understand and replies "Wow technology is amazing these days isnt it?" ...I usually give a blank stare or reply like "yeah and rounded wheels are amazing these days"
I just realised we're really close to 2009, who's gonna organise the 2008 flash reg votes?
I don't think I even got nominated for anything in 2007 :'(
Anyone ever been in an assassins society at Uni or whatever?
I just lasted slightly over one and a half days :/ I was having a perfectly nice conversation with someone outside a lecture, stepped outside of the safe zone and instantly got stabbed with a paper knife :'( I think I managed to give her my cold, anyway.

Flash Reg Gift Swap thing
I did something like it a few years ago and kind of forgot about it last year but I thought itd be cool to have a xmas/whatever-you-celebrate gift swap amongst us. One of the things I enjoy most about the sketchbook tour is getting something from another user and not knowing what it contains. I guess it'd be like a secret santa thing for lack of a better term. Yay/Nay.
As much as I like to bitch about you all and the shithole that this thread has become i still consider you all my friends : x
I bring this up now cause the postal system becomes extremely clogged following thanksgiving (next week) so we'd have to get on that fairly quick in order for people to get their shit this year.
Maybe I could use BoMToons' randomizer thing and that way i could randomize who you get.. i might get my arch nemesis patu1 or something.

I had almost forgot about the Numa Numa Dance and how over the top it became. Thanks for reminding me of its existence!
I'm down for gift swap, I'm hoping I get you Luis so I can send you my Sketchbook tour page that I just found (totally got lost in the move).
I vote craft expense only, handmade gifts (can't buy in whole at store) so that it's a more personal thing instead of a slinky or something.

Isn't that a map in battlefield 2?

I'm glad I stuck to myself in my own bubble on Newgrounds.
I'd hate to turn into some of the artists here. I think I'll celibrate my success of improving my skill without tainting it. My work is me - from it's sloppy and perhaps crude drawing style, to it's odd humour which only a selected group laughs at. I watched my input. I internalized the values and beliefs from the NG community that I wanted. The ones that went through my system that I didn't plan on were some lovely quirks I picked up from this reg lounge.
It's November again. I think it was a year back I came here.
Ahh... circles and patterns - they all are tangled in our lives.
Newgrounds was and still is good for me. The experiment ain't just going to continue - it's going to get a bit more interestin' I think.
Words don't identify their desires...
I like my lil' hovel in NG. I can come here and think. Relaxing...
Newgrounds is a star on the net. Ever glowing with the beauty of free minds and free expression. A type of freedom can exist here which is difficult to keep together outside the computer. Ahh...
It's nice to settle down... my hovel in NG is dirtied in the way I like...
Newgrounds... such a peaceful refreshment of all the colours of freedom.
Err... posting is such an odd experince now. My mind wonders about the keyboard and my thoughts spill upon this yellow box with the lil' buildings in the background... who lives in those buildings? Are those our apartments of userpages and malls of games and movies? NG city is it? Interesting... I think I'd like to eat a sandwiche atop on the skyscrappers. That be neat.

It might just be a Doxbridge thing... basically you get a target and you're given their name, course and room, and you've got five days to take them out. It's pretty swell.
Good to see those philosophy classes are working out for you. Long time no post, busy with uni?

Bah, left4dead is completely owning me :(. I have coursework for tomorrow, and i can't stop shooting zombs :(. Amazing game though, a true feat of AI, and the graphics aren't half bad either, i don't understand how valve did it, but the way it makes you co-operate is magic, i've been playing with some online friends and i don't think i've ever played a better game online.
School
Mocks next week, that'll be fun ;P. What a stupid timetable they give you, i've just had a 5 week (10 hour final piece) art exam, which has engulfed and obliterated my other homework under its weight, so my revision has gone to pot, and i'll probably do shite on the mocks. You'd think that they would take these things into consideration :S.

This is probably bad mentioning but... when you buy rare and really powerful magic mushrooms - the kind ancient shamans use to use in rituals - it's a good idea to know theirs a warning amount where it's highly reccomended you don't eat more then 4 grams. So when you eat over 7 and a half grams... it's the most insane ride of your fucking life. My friend and I had the most intense and insane ( and long ) three hours of our lives a week or so ago.

Uni's a bitch - especially with the last week being next week and then exams. I got what I wanted from my classes the first few months and everything after that was a waste of money because I didn't learn shit after the mid-term. I've been busy mainly with trying to get work done, thinkin' 'bout life, and being kidnapped on insane adventures.
I recently have been thinkin' 'bout bein' a poet instead of a director. I'm hoping to "find my calling" at uni by taking random courses about all sorts of junk.
And no forum for me for a while again now. Must work, must stay focused, must get shit done.
I want to get a few toons done before people drag me back to the nut-house.

I dunno what the categories are, I wasn't a reg last year at this time.

Seriously? I actually never thought about making a blog, but now that I think about it it's pretty tempting. I often have a lot of ideas popping in my head and other things that I would like to share with other people. Most of the time it's just geeky ideas about science or computers (and gaming) so I don't know if many people would be interested to read it.

I only saw the 2005 and 2006 ones, and the categories were things like emo boy, worst poster (bobricci lmao), attention whore, etc.
Left 4 dead
I talked to many regs about it and it seems like there's a lot of people here who are hyped about this game. I don't have enough money for the full version but I assume I'll have it by friday, how about we go for a friday night gaming session this weekend? :) I still haven't played the demo with anyone from the flash forum, it should be great fun.
correct me if im wrong but the people who have left 4 dead are: depredation, unknownfury, blackfang, luis? who else? we could go for a 4 player co-op, or maybe two teams of 4 player (versus mode too) if we have enough. what do you guys say about it?
There's no point in getting left 4 dead for anything other than PC, seriously. I can't even start to imagine how bad the controls would be for an xbox, how can you play a first person shooter without a keyboard and mouse?
I don't understand why people play games on anything other than a PC. Maybe I'm missing something, but why would any of you buy an xbox or a playstation when you've all got computers? You got like a hundred buttons on your keyboard, and a laser mouse, why do you need a shitty xbox controler? Apart from the controls, not only does it look better on PC, but it also leaves more space for skill. I don't see where the skill is needed to play left 4 dead on xbox, you got like 4 buttons or something. I saw this guy playing it on an xbox and he couldn't even move backward when the zombies were rushing him, he just stood in place and shot the zombies while taking a shitload of damage.
please explain why
At 11/19/08 07:03 PM, SpamBurger wrote: -A good gaming PC is at least $700 and to have anything worth while, probably at least $1,000 where as an Xbox 360 is only $199-$299
That's ridiculous. You don't need a $1000 pc to play left 4 dead, i could get you a configuration that will run it on medium settings np for around 600 bucks. Also, you use your computer for flash, internet, programming, and many other things, it's not like if you choose to go the console way you're not gonna have a PC.
-Please explain your "skill" argument. How would it take any more "skill" to play on a PC than a 360?
PCs offer much more freedom than consoles. Just look at the number of buttons on a keyboard, it's self explanatory. I've seen many videos of people playing on consoles and always when they turn or whatnot they have to do it very slowly. With a mouse you can aim, turn, and move very freely and much more effectively, not to mention the freedom that the keyboard gives you in addition to that. I'm not just talking l4d here, im talking about any game. When I play games on my PC i use at least 10-15 keys of the keyboard, and I can also create custom macro keys to do complicated actions faster.
-I doubt the graphics are even a little bit better if at all than the 360
That's ridiculous, you just said a good computer costs over 1k bucks. With a $1000 PC you'll outgraphic a console any day. Show me graphics equivalent to Crysis on highest settings on the 360.
-Console games are pop 'n play where as PC games can take much longer to set up and can cause a lot of frustration in non-techie people
Can you please clarify this point? What is there to "set up" for playing games on a PC? I click the power button, wait until it loads windows, click the game I want to play (usually on steam so I don't even need to insert any disc), and start playing. Where is the frustration there? If you think playing games on a PC is complicated then you've got problems.
-A TV screen can and usually is much larger than a monitor
That's completely off the subject. I have a 22" monitor for my PC and a small-ass TV screen because I never watch TV. Just because you chose to spend more money on your TV than your monitor isn't an argument in favor of console games. Besides, you can hook up your PC to your television screen.
-Consoles allow people to just sit on their couch and play
Solution: buy a comfortable chair
-It's easier to play with friends with consoles
How so?
