Anyone else getting this error message:

"OpenX has not been installed yet -- please read the INSTALL.txt file."

In the banner ad area on NG? I only seem to be able to get Roblox ads, so it's either Roblox or that error message :p

Kinda unrelated to anything but it's strange =D

Also grats wurmy for the award! Daily 3rd.. much higher than I've ever had (daily 8th was my highest I think, lol), and the game is very addictive/fun.. I don't get why theres a rocket dude there, but, meh :D

Sup, bitches :)

Helpathon
I was browsing through the forum this morning, and I saw jmtb's file optimization tutorial thread and I was thinking that at some point, it would be cool if as reg's we decided that on "____" day we would all make a tutorial thread and teach the forum SOMETHING that you know about flash that would be cool to teach the up and coming users. Like the whole page could be filled with veteran users teaching you something... doesnt have to be rocket science or even professionally done, just something fun that would sort of stimulate the forum into being more about helping people get better as opposed to just junk collabs that i approve lmao

Haha, i liked it. :D
Congrats on the award,
The game is a bit addictive, good luck with future games. :]

Mr. UnknownFury i see your making a website.
Good luck with that;
for a while i really felt like i should make a website,
and i started on k-guare.com, but,
then i realized i didn't have nearly enough flashes to post something interesting.
as well as I need to learn a lot more PHP/MySQL before i can
do anything cool with it.

k-guare.com = failure,
the only person that cares about it is TehSlapHappy, lol.
Hopefully your site is better.

First I though it was the name of some disease.. then I realized it's "Help-a-thon".
Interesting idea, personally I want more animation tutorials, or just showing techniques.. something :p

And thanks for all the comments on my game! :D

I like the idea a lot. And we need some form of prize for the best tutorial :D. I like tutorials, as you may have guessed by my last 2 submissions. I think we need a new MAIN page, but just TUT:MAIN, not AS, or Art, or music, just a collaborative page where people can post any tutorials.

Helpathon

Sounds like a really nice idea. I'm not sure what to make a tutorial regarding though. I'll think about it, If I'm online and I want to write out a tutorial at the time, then I will do so.

Helpathon: Sounds fun. I might do it if it actually happened.

Nationstates and cybernations: Quite fun I like all the political decisions. Search for them on google if you haven't already played on them.

Rugby: Played rugby against 16 year olds today and almost won (we were 14 year olds) Three jumped on me lol and I was still running with them all on top of me :S. Eventually I got tired and just passed it.

a helpathon could be good to encourage more flashers, and help people, but havnt we got enough problems of our own?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2008-10-12 16:29:29

I'd probably find something to write about if the helpathon was decided upon ^_-

Also: I just cooked something and accidentally put the lid on a pot while heating the oil.. when I realised I took it off and it set on fire (duh) but the fire alarm didn't go off (I'm in a halls of residence). I dealt with it easily, but, it's kinda scary that the alarm didn't go off. Although I'd have been pissed if it had, too xD

England
I know a lot of you guys are from England, i have some questions regarding student life in there. I'm really tired of living in France mainly because of school, I heard you guys have something called "A levels" from 16 to 18 where you pick 3 subjects you wanna study, like maths physics and computer science and then that's all you learn at school, while waking up at 8 and finishing school at 2 in the afternoon? I'd love to have that, but where could I live considering I have no family in England, and what school should I go to?

What?

The point would be that we don't all share the same issues with flash. We don't all have the same strong points.

Guys sharing strong points will help those with issues.
If we get enough people doing it, we'd cover all bases.

yea ok soz, it would be good and a bit of fun, maybe? i might be in if it looks good

You can pick 3-4 A levels and they take 2 years to do, the timetable isn't strict (like 8-2) it's dependant on the courses you pick and the college you go to, but you will have quite a lot of free time compared to secondary school. I have no idea where you could take A levels or anything about that, but I can tell you're serious about studying elsewhere. How long until you graduate in france?

I got 3 years left including this one. It's not that it's too hard for me here, neither too easy, but I just can't stand it anymore. Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe I'm gonna give up on that idea in 3 days, but even though I might be just having my period of unhappiness I can tell that my life atm and until I graduate just isn't the kind of life I wanna have.

There's always room at the dep house :D.But seriously, A levels are pretty good, doing what you want to do for 2 years sounds better than anything preceeding it. I'm not sure what the education is like in france, so i can't really comment. Have you talked to your parents about it?

I mentioned the idea of moving but I don't think they think it's doable. Even if I do overcome the difficulties of moving to another completely foreign country where I don't know anyone etc, there's the problem of having enough money to pay for my studies and a place to live. Maybe I should start working on those flash games cause my parents don't have much money and all i have is 1600 euros on a bank account

Toast: In my school you take 4 A levels and 5 if you take further maths (this does not count against the 4.) After GCSE's the optional A levels are done in something called "6th form" (well at least up in the lake district.

This is probably biased but the lake district is a very beautiful place and it just so happens I go to the best public school in the county (cumbria.) I would definitely recommend beginning schooling in England as a lot of subject matter in A level studies may contain some of the things done in the GCSE courses.

Of course you could go to a school further south however up here there are mountains and various other things such as lakes and forest :D. (Theres plenty of them elsewhere but up here is the biggest mountain in England :P

It's definitely something to consider anyways. (Which year are you in at present.)

Sorry for DPing (if I do) but toast posted again. Toast you don't have to pay for schooling(if you go public which in my opinion is better.) You actually get money for being in 6th form (well at least up here.)

Also there are millions of people willing to look after other peoples children (foster parents.) Although I don't see the appeal of being looked after by some strange people I've never met before.

hmm I don't really want to live with a family I don't know. Economically it would be very good thuogh. Maybe one of you flash regs in england wouldn't mind having me at your home? :<

I'd totally do it if I had my own place, but being at uni means all I have is 1 room. The only costs you'd need to consider would be food/transport (bus or w/e, not a tonne of money obviously) and other living costs. Just remember the north is a LOT cheaper than the south, seriously :P

I just happen to be in the most north county of England apart from Northumberland (I suppose you could go live with delta.) I would totally let you live in my house :D You could always ask Paranoia since he lives right next to an theme park (blackpool pleasure beach) which is in Lancashire/Lancaster (thats bad ebing nable to remember the geography of england X( ) I have plenty of rooms but my mother might not be happy. Then again she probably wouldn't mind.

He is my toast now! ( I'll enslave him and whip him until he creates epic flashes for me :D) Anyways I'm off goodnight all.)

Frontpage

So, the movies on the front page are above the games, although I'll live, I always wondered why this was.

Thoughts? Comments?

Games get more views than movies (on average) so it's basically a way to compensate for that.
