Well I'm not a flash regular, in fact I'm just getting started in the flash world so I'm not even at the 'beginner' stage yet.
I was just wondering if someone could mind telling me what program you use? Just because I've seen an Adobe version and a Macromedia MX version and I'm puzzled on which to get.
Anyone mind helping a poor noob?

Adobe flash is the most recent. Adobe bought out macromedia after flash 8.
MX is number 6, MX 20004 is 7. 8 is...well 8. CS3 (Adobe's first version) is 9. CS4 is 10, though trials aren't out yet. Check out it's features on Adobe's site.

Macromedia was swallowed up by Adobe, so basically the Adobe version (CS3, CS4) is newer than the Macromedia version (mx, mx 2004, Flash 8). If you want the latest version you'll have to wait until CS4 comes out this autumn. If you're mainly interested in animation and not so much in programming (and your budget is pretty tight) and older version like Flash 8 or CS3 (has Actionscript 3.0, Flash 8 doesn't) will suffice, you can probably find one of those for a lot less on sites like eBay.
So since i'm pretty new to this whole thing, for a beginner would you reccomend Flash 8?
I think Adobe took the trial version of CS3 off their website because they are soon to be replaced by the trial for CS4, but you can still find trials for earlier versions of Flash on other sites. You might want to try one of those first before you buy anything. I might be a little old fashioned but yeah, I think Flash 8 will do the job. You can always upgrade when you're sure you like animating that much and want to use all the new features in the newer versions of Flash.
Ah right, thanks mate. I'll look for a trial version of Flash 8, see how I take to to animation, I've wanted to get into it for a long time, just never really had the time, a lame excuss I know lol
