Aha! I can make it go anti-clockwise by looking at the shadow, and clockwise with the foot.
Silly brain.

As I said in this thread, the only rational way to judge the direction is to look at the shadow of the foot. It makes no sense to assume the dancer's moving clockwise even if it looks like it - because you can see in which direction the shadow is going, and therefore which direction the foot furthest from the camera at the time when the shadow appears is moving.
At first i saw anti-clockwise, then i read it and then i started switching between clockwise and anti-clockwise. Now i look at it and i can only see clockwise. I think my brain is confused.

Ahwww gawd that's confusing.
I covered up the dancer so I could only see the shadow, I could make it go anticlockwise. Then I looked back at the dancer and it was still going clockwise. I blinked and it changed directions =/... but only for like 2 seconds.
At first I was stuck with clockwise but after a while I managed to change it at will.

It doesn't have any specific direction. That's the whole point.
The dancer inhabits an imaginary plane where every ray of light reaches you perfectly perpendicular to the surface. Since real vision doesn't work like that, the picture isn't a representation of reality, and can be going whichever way your brain tells you. No perspective; no real direction.
RE: Productivity Day
LOL, I missed it. I was trying to fix my Flash that I made. It had about 3 corrupted movie clips and drawings that I couldn't fix and had to end up redrawing them. It took ages.
Anyway, it's fixed now. Not only is it the longest animation I've ever made so far, but I actually voice-acted the entire thing (minus the screaming women in the middle). So, I suggest you go view my productiveness in action. Pretend it's still Productivity Day. :P

Um.... the foot is at such an angle that you can't tell at what point it's facing out and what ppoint it's facing in. That's the beauty of it.
.-Need some powerup ideas-.
For a week or two I've been working on a small game, my first one actually, so by Reg Lounge standards it's pretty shite. I'm doing it because it's a learning experience that'll hopefully lead me to making better stuff in the future. Anyway, it's your average avoider game, which I'm trying to give an extra touch by adding a few silly powerups. So far I have a bullet-time, wind and moses powerup (they pretty much work they way you'd expect them to) and I'm running short of ideas. So if you guys could come up with something (that's doable for a newbie programmer) I'd be very happy and I might bake you all a cake. Other comments are welcome as well.
Here's a very early version of the game. The artwork is pretty much all placeholder stuff, and there are probably some bugs and glitches I missed. It might also take a while before you've come across all powerups.
W, A, D for movement and 'space' for activating the powerups.
Xeptic's Game
That thing is looking excellent. Although a simple idea, it's very smooth and fun. Loving the moses powerup.
I can't think of any good power-ups though, apart from standard ones such as invincibility.

I'm so fucking confused by what everyone is seeing in this.
Wtf. Okay its been like 6 hours and I just looked at it again, now its clockwise. And I still do not get why. This thing is fucking with me and has totally ruined my day. Thank you yet again, flash regs.
SPLEENS! sorry I needed to get that out of my system... X(
Right then back to business...
Anyone ever been to the Lake District or planning to (it's in north-west England) I live there.
In other news I'm working on a platform game and lastly I'm going down to Westminister for the weekend next week :)
RE: Power Ups
Game's looking good, I'd say the wind power up could do with an improvement though, if you're on the right hand of the screen it should blow them to the left, rather than always blowing them to the right.
As for more power ups, like Ryan said invincibility or a shield of some sort is a must. Maybe an Agility-Plus power up would be good. Also how about negative power ups? Reverse controls (but gives you more points), shrinking/enlarging the tools perhaps too.
Power ups: How about a harder hat which makes you invunerable for 1 hit or something... Maybe a baseball bat which lets you hit the things back up... Not sure. Looks good though.

Cool! Basic idea but it feels really good for some reason, nice and smooth!
how about a shield powerup where you have to use the mouse to move the shield around and protect the guy? maybe add a little multitasking!
I love all of you. Thanks for the great ideas.

I love the moses power up, and bullet time is always good. Looks great so far, and the art isn't bad either, looking great so far. I like the baseball bat idea, although i'm not sure how you could use it :D.
Oi Moose! I might think of something... Wait a few minutes ^^

RE: Game Idea's?
How about having a game about having a mind block where you have to kill some sort of beings that are preventing your mind from being able to come up w/ a good idea?
RE: PowerUps
I loved the Moses one, maybe a "sheild" one where a patrolling crane (or bar/beam w/e) that is attached to a chain is moved from left and right on the stage, the items that hit the beam thing stay on it, and after to many items have been collected, have the beam fall, which could severely injure your player (or a lil less tech than that, w/e lol)
Good idea but naah I'm just gonna spurt out a random cross the road without getting splattered game X(

Moses is fantastic, great idea man.
I agree with the harder hat idea. Maybe a shrink powerup that makes your smaller so it's easier to dodge the objects. You definitely got some good things going on in there.
Now i made it look ever MORE like a mac. I love my background too
