Oh no, i dont like this at all. Oh god, i was planning to change my username
to something without hyphens but now i see that its impossible to go back.
Shit. Im stuck with -Edward-, well for now anyway.
I might give in.
Never the less, i dont see the reason for banning the hyphons, i mean, newgrounds is becoming too professional, too formal. Of course, if i were in Tom's shoes, i'd probelly do the same thing, but still...

This is my Signature. Signature it is.

It's to do with the new subdomain system, the URL "-edward-.newgrounds.com" would be invalid. That's why hyphens are only allowed in between your name, and it's also why no underscores are allowed. Just request Edward, or try and find another name you could stick with.

You're one of the only cases where underscores looked good on your name. Seems like something's sort of missing now. :(

I know :S I fell clean shaven... and not in a good way. I miss those little guys already.

Good thing my username doesn't have any hyphens or underline marks in it. I just randomly picked it out and spaced it all together.

The deeper you delve, the more strategizing is involved.

But I loved me underscore :(

Response to New Username Standards 2006-09-10 08:28:32

Seems there's a hell of a lot of people who couldn't get the name they wanted because of inactive users.

Because of this, that's all changed! I <3 being Krum. Not -Krum- Although I didn't have any problem with it.

If in any way you disagree with this post, understand that you're a cunt.

What wrong with names that have hyphens or underscores in them?

A new system will be implemented soon that will give users their own subdomains, for example, http://rupeeclock.newgrounds.com

Because of the way subdomains work, NO underscores can be used, and hyphens cannot be at the beginning or end of the subdomain, or two next to eachother, they can still be in the middle of a username though, like rupee-clock

So in short.

http://rupeeclock.newgrounds.com = OK
http://rupee-clock.newgrounds.com = OK
http://-rupeeclock-.newgrounds.com = BAD
http://rupee_clock.newgrounds.com = BAD
http://_rupeeclock_.newgrounds.com = BAD
http://rupee--clock.newgrounds.com = BAD

PM TomFulp, he can help you out if the account name Ratio isn't taken by an active member.
Infact, I just checked, Ratio doesn't even have a profile, you might be in luck.

Fortunately I already did just before you commented, but thanks anyway.

Eventually we, or maybe just flash artists will have their own personal page. You can have friends and what not like always and it will be a better way of finding flash and discovering new talent. I think it'll do wonders for flash and music artists on this site.

I certainly hope so. My #1 ranked favorite is (imo) amazing, and I'm the only user with it marked as a favorite. I know this because every time I go to watch it, that little blurb with 'other people who like this submission also liked:' is always links to flash on my favorites list.

I think a lot of incredible artists go unnoticed because too many people are in the portal now for tit to have the wide reach it once did.

Exactly. Alot of my favorites are not the mainstream top 50 flashes. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the top 50, but that doesn't mean that there isn't more then 50 good flashes on NG. This is why we have our top 50 favorite flashes. And hopefully the people I have on mine will do this full page account thing because I really think people will like them.

Especially the evil josh and billy series, oh man those were great.
