The portal and the BBS are totally separate entities, and always have been. That's why there are different rules for the portal and for the BBS.

The users who use other languages usually don't have anything interesting to say anyways and/or just spamming with a different language.

Also it really isn't fair since most of the mods know english only they have to go all the way of pulling up an online translator just to witness the post correctly to see if any rules are being broken so it's a good move with only allowing English here,there isn't that many different language forigeners on the BBS anyways.

End of Finland Club for me, then. Even if a new, English-speaking Finland club is made, I won't post anything in there. Speking Finnish with Finnish people was the only point of that topic as far as I'm concerned. Same with people of other nationalities, they wanted to communicate with their countrymen in their own language, so I don't see why anyone would want to continue those clubs any longer.

As a side note, Americans should learn more languages. Everyone in the world has to learn English, but only a fraction of Americans (or the British too, I think) bother to learn foreign languages fluently, or even properly. I'm not expecting anyone to moderate my Finnish, but I think we're losing a lot linguistic riches when German, French, Spanish etc., which have occasionally been used in the forums, are banned. The most spoken languages of the world, save Mandarin, should not be so out of English speaking people's grasp that the people who speak them natively can feel safe to post offensive text. Until this new rule, of course.

Of course, now that this rule is in place, I will abide by it, but I just wanted to express my opinion. The complaining ends now.

You mean the Quebec Club yes, and the thing is that some mods could have taken care of it because some can speak french, so if a mod can speak spanish or french then there should be a possibility to make a french or spanish club.
And you are one of those mods Soas, you understand french and you could have moderated the club to make sur that the rules we're respected.

What about every other language? then we would need to get mods who spoke every language a club was made for JUST to moderate THAT club.

Also, I went in, and said some of that shit had to be cut out, even with 2 other mods on my side, and instead, we got ignored, ridiculed and bitched out.
Why the hell , would i even want to bother moderating a club who won't even respect the mods trying to give out a warning?
It COULD have ended nicely, ya sure. but your "leaders" reaction to the mods, ended up being reported.
So. Besides that, it still wouldnt be fair to all the other languages desired to be spoken, and to single mods who have to be the only one moderated a whole club.

Meh, I have rarely spoken spanish in the boards since the ¿Latinos? (don't ban plz) topic was closed back in 04, so this new rule won't affect me, however, I must point out that it is still a bit unfair to other foreing speakers that were not part of the problem.

But nevertheless, I agree with you, Wade, this is afterall your site, and it's Englished based.

also, i forgot to add, you can remake the Quebec Club, as long as it's in english. So all mods can moderate it. This has been told to all the other language clubs, the Swedish already remade theirs.
