- Wouldn´t it be cool to get an automated PM/e-mail when your songs have been used in flash submissions?
- Yes it would.

"Some rumors I heard" ;)
- The changes will take place by the end of this year (or maybe sooner?)
- Tom and the crew are planning to release each feature either seperatly OR in one BIG update so that we can all collectively pee in our pantees.
Don't forget, these are just some rumors I heard...:)
Fix the one day/month vote problem
Also, being able to see how many votes it has. If a submition has 3 with 1000 votes, its most likly good, while a 5 with 2 votes may be crap.

Clone Flash Portal, except audio... I mean like everything! Even editing descriptions and deleting stuff, or replacing with a fixed audio. All of that except leave the Audio Profiles.
i think there should be a list that the author can see , maybe from a pm, that shows who has voted on ur track... so thatwe can onnce and for all see who the fuck keeps votin 0 without listenin.. and a list of people who downloaded it maybe...?
~holla~
A link to the Audio forum in the audio portal frontpage.
the option to delete track that you uploaded by accident or track you fixed, think about it it would be better for ng cause they wouldent have extra songs taking up space and also you could put the right song on if u mess up
I belive the VA (Voice Acting) community should be included in the Audio community more. Perhaps there could be "VA sample genre" where VA´s could post samples of their own voices, so that flash authors can listen through and "aha! THAT´s the voice I want for my character!!!".
Also, as have been a mission of a guy in teh Audio forum (cant remember his name, sry:( that there would be proper links to VA information in teh Audio Sticky!
Don't know why I'm reviving this topic but...
disclaimer - I have not read EVERY post so this may have already been mentioned
How about a weighted vote based on batting averages?
To vote on audio, you'd either have to be a flash or audio contributor with a batting average that could determine the additional weight given to your vote...
eg:
New Account - no submissions - doesn't get a multiplier or possibly doesn't get a vote
Flash author - batting average of 2.5 - vote is worth an additional 50%
Audio artist - batting average (to be added?) of 3.5 - vote is worth an additional 70%
This way, zeroes wouldn't be nearly as damaging - unless they are handed out by very experienced contributors with high batting averages...
Well I've read some posts and I say: the ranking should be made by the reviews. So at least these reatrded jerks who always score 0 to the songs have to write something. But I think there should be a minimun character amount that should be written in the review, so one-word revs and some short but nonsens stuff won't be acceptable with the lov scores.
Another thing that I'm agreed with is that the submitter of tha audios could manage his own stuff. So if you want to change an already existing submisson (because you made some volume level changes but nothing else - so the tracks structure is the same), by re-submitting it, change the title, description etc.
Peple make fun to over download theirs track. So we should be able to download the track only once in a certain delay. That's my Idea.

AKA, me. I still go around and zero a few things so they aren't stuck at ridiculously high scores all the time. Just evens out the portal a bit. I mean no harm.

lol - wow man - that's a pretty dickish thing to do - heh heh.
I'm sending the audio mafia over to your house to rough you up a little - no lube either!

I don't think I have up to date. I may have like, WAY in the past :P
I think like next to the 'contact author' and 'reply with quote' buttons there should be a 'Listen to this artists music' or to make it smaller a 'my audio' button that'll directly link them to there audio page. That'll be easier for musicians and flash artist alike.
I dont know if someone said it already

Also, if audio cannot be blammed, how can it get turd of the week? That means it would just go to a song with a 0 in score. Unless there's an idea that I missed which involves blamming of audio submissions.
But not all turd of the weeks are bad. This one I believe is quite funny.
Okay Guys, I noticed this thread, and have taken the time to read everything all of you have said, a lot of you have made some awesome suggestions, I like the idea that some guy mentioned about halfway through (sorry dude I forgot your name) about the idea on adapting the search so that you can filter through tracks of a varying size, which would easily help you find a suitable loop or full length track. aswell as incorporating the other variables which are logged, but not used, such as platinum/gold status etc...
Okay another point that I would like to make, that another one of you very briefly touched on (again sorry i forgot your name too)
relating to the miscellaneous category. but I can't remember what you said about it, but I feel some changes need to be done about it, as stated below!
well as you all know, there is absolutely tons of audio in there, which is offputting for anybody wanting to look for audio. no one wants to have to look through all of that, to hear all of it just to find a suitable track for their potential flash submission
well in relation to that I would like to suggest that, in the review of the audio (somewhere) I think reviewees should be able to decide what genre they feel, any particular track, in the misc category, fits into, I feel it should be mandatory too. based on the numbers of people voting for a particular genre to fit that piece into. that would, based on votes, shift those tracks into their rightful categories. hopefully over time, eradicating the need for that Misc category.
I know myself, from one of the submissions I've made. that it's hard to choose which genre it fits into, I would have the trouble of deciding between a few options, so Misc seems to be the easy way out.
To elaborate a little more, maybe the Authors could choose more than one category that they feel their tracks fit into (by way of genre), and then the reviewees could pick one of the Authors genre choices, and again over many reviews, the problem of the misc category could be solved
I see the Misc category as a kind of "purgatory" whilst the decision is being made to decide which genre it truly fits into
What do you guys think about this? maybe you could help take this a little step further with some suggestions too!!!
I Don't know, but I feel the same as you guys, some much needed changes are needed in the Audio Portal
Peace Out

you know how theres a reviews by ______ in everyones profile? how about we have something similar but for votes? we can then tell if someones a zero voter.

Disasterous.

That would cause unnessecary hate in the portal among you people who care about scores.
yeah i gotta agree with you on that, it would cause unneccesary hate in the newgrounds arena. i think there have been some good suggestions about how to tackle the 0 voters problem, all we need is for the Fulps to dip in a read some of the great suggestions.
so guys what did yo uthink about the Miscellaneous option I suggested above? I mean do any of you agree that it should perhaps be dealt with?
cos it's unlikely anyone wanting to use audio for their flash, will want to dip into the Misc category, it's just too vast
The Drum n Bass section is getting to the stage where it must be updated into defferant genres.
Like the ones used at this site.
Also, notice that our rock section could be bigger. Check it out.

um...if they started doing that they'd have to do that for every genre that has sub genre's, take heavy metal for example, there's hundreds of sub-genres of that, and it gets to a point where it just gets plain silly
OKAYZ! I gots like the best idea EVA for you whining-zero-vote-victim-bastards. How about...
WE TAKE OUT THE ZERO VOTE ALTOGETHER!
Omg! Revolutionary! Then, everyone will just 1 vote you... and the cycle goes on. The assholes are always going to be assholes, no matter how much you change the system. This is Newgrounds, remember that, and if you don't like getting zero raped, then don't upload your music here.
take out the 0-5 system then have a thumbs up/thumbs down system instead.
Seriously, who uses 1-4 anyway? If you vote lower than the current score of a track you like (i.e you vote 4 and its current score is 4.2) then you're essentialy downvoting it anyway.
Or a slider, (5/5) . (10/10)
1 ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 5
A separation in the genres between lengthy tracks and short loops would be good, as good short loops get lower scores than lengthier tracks, even if the lengthier track isnt as tightly produced.
This thread is still going strong i pm'd tom about a long time ago i wonder which suggestions he will use....
More indications of what kind of song is on the "newest entries", perhaps like the FP where you see a score when highlighting the flash.. Something that definitley should excist is project-name, meaning you as a user could split up your own Audio in different projects. This mean you wouldn´t have to create a brand new account to "start all over"...
