I don't know who he is....Care to explain?

You got it right.

BigBadRon is one of the old-time BBS mods, the Poozy of his day, so to say. Never capitalized anything unless it was all-caps. Pretty funny guy actually, I miss him. I have no idea when he was demodded.

Shame. Maybe life got in the way of his mod duties.

Sadly I can't be arsed to play that game. I should get to it at the weekend.
You play it for ten seconds and you've got five medals. That's how fast it is. I've never seen anything like it.

Funny I fgured I had time now and started playing the game more(right at this moment). To say the least you right I can put no effort in it I get one achievement. It's crazy.

At one point, I counted 21 "User is Online" threads.

Wow

True, those bears have become a cultural icon. It's quite a marketing achievement on the part of Coca-Cola.

That, and adding cocaine to soft drinks. Marketing genius up until the government got wise. "And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling congressmen."

Sounds like a handful. I don't know how much being in a relationship for 4 years means you can make a relationship work since they ended up breaking up. I was in a relationship for 3 years, engaged, and I have no idea how to make relationships work IMHO.

Well this dude cheated on her and sounds like an asshole (haven't exactly heard his side of the story though), and I think if she was willing to do what it took to make a relationship work with a guy that pissed her off, then she'll probably try and make this work, regardless of how shit goes. That could be a bad thing, or a really amazing thing. Guess time will tell.

I agree though, stay away from the psycho crazy girls.

But they party naked!

I on the other hand have just met this gorgeous girl who makes me very happy, something I haven't felt in at least 6 months.
Good deal man. What's her story?
I actually met her at the Marine Corps Ball, she was someone else's date, but not really date just a friend thing, so we talked, flirted and clicked got her number and started talking and hanging out. She's got great personality, super quirky and positive, and can be a total dork, which is something I love. Plus it doesn't hurt that she's pretty hot lol.

The hotness always gives them the little extra edge doesn't it? Haha. That's cool man. Those dorky girls are always fun to be around, provided that they look cute when they're doing it. I dated this girl in high school who always used to baby talk her dog in this annoying ass voice, and every time she did it, I wanted to tackle her and darce choke her into submission.

General sure has become a mess recently. Nonetheless, it is still quite entertaining.

Decent Top 5 this week in the Audio Portal. It's good to see a variety of music genres instead of the usual five trance / techno submissions. Good music, good music.

Sorry about my absence as of recent everyone. I'm finishing up my last couple of weeks of college and the final grind is generally the worst. I took a look at the garbage going on with Poozy and general and everything and that's just a solid reminder to me as to why I spend no time there anymore hahaha.

I'll have time to post a bit more later, however, for right now I need to continue writing a paper. Hope all is well with everyone.

It's that time of the year! It's Christmas! You can already find the ads on TV and hear the music on the radio. While I always find them enjoyable, I believe they should wait until the actual month to start.

Good stuff in this year's Treasure Hunt. It will take a lot of time and effort to go through each of the finalists, but I will!

There's no reason they should start this early, other than to bug the shit out of consumers. I think the appropriate time to start advertising Christmas is after Thanksgiving.

I don't know how the admins do it. There were hundreds of flashes in this year's Treasure Hunt. It was insane.

I very much agree with this, the christmas ads are always pushing to be earlier every year it seems like. Such a ridiculously material world we live in. Gotta love hyperreality...

Yea well, since it is their full time job to run this website, they can't really complain. It's not that bad of a life to run a website that's about flash movies and games lol.

Well at least to those of us who live in the U.S. lol. Canada has their thanksgiving in October and it's not as celebrated as it is here, and other countries, well, I don't think they have a thanksgiving holiday. Mine was filled with Turkey, potatoes, desserts, and plenty of family (17 of us this year).

I hate Black Friday, I hate the concept, I hate the fact that the deals are actually not that good compared to how crazy people get about it. Seriously, people die for this shit every year.... Ridiculous.

I had less people over. Maybe 9 people were over here. But then again my family isn't that big.

Trampling. Honestly, I remember a time when "Black Friday" was not thrown around, when people were not COMPLETELY INSANE. It is getting more and more commercialized every year, in fact, I actually heard Christmas music right after Halloween.

This so-called "Black Friday" is going to be black not because of shopping, but because I have two final reports I have completely slacked off on. I absolutely must bet them done.

How about that portal? I have seen that fucking Chocolate Brickbreak game so many times. It comes with Games Factory 2, so people add the slightest adjustment and then submit it. The ones I've seen are unplayable; it moves too fast. Besides, it comes with GF2, so it's not their work.

There's been a lot of stolen flashes lately. Keep an eye out.

Response to Newground's Department of defense. 2010-11-26 11:10:27

Hope you folks have had a good Thanksgiving.

I never understood this Black Friday craze. Although the deals can be quite good, I honestly don't get the insanity it creates among people. I have heard accounts of people dying during this event, in particular a Wal-Mart door greeter in Long Island, NY. As soon as he had opened the door the crazed horde trampled the man to death.

General chat isn't what it used to be back in the day. I feel like I've hit a wall in trying to have a discussion with people on the BBS. People are almost just posting for the statistic of post count rather than conversation. Today I've tried endlessly to start a decent conversation or even some arguments on the BBS and it's like I've hit a wall. No one responds.

I purposely would disagree with a topic and someone would post in the topic a one-line dumb comment and never look in the thread again. In my opinion this is an issue. Granted on Newgrounds we have the ability to make dumb comments, but occasionally I'd like to have a semi-intelligent conversation (outside of the politics section or even the C&C section). I don't know what it is anymore. I remember the General section being a lot different in the past.

Has anyone been encountering the same issues? Maybe had similar issues? Or maybe I'm just imagining everything? Hahah I don't even know.

Most people in the general are stat-whores that are looking for post counts, so they don't waste their time with actual meaningful discussions, it's kind of like a dump and run game. I had a good discussion going today in a thread I commented in about personal choice, go check it out.

Yea, it just really is a sort of culture in that section. People are too lazy to be semi-intelligent. You have to remember this forum is populated with young people. Maturity and intelligence is generally lacking.

Has anyone been encountering the same issues? Maybe had similar issues? Or maybe I'm just imagining everything? Hahah I don't even know.

I have, that's why I usually stay clear of that forum completely. Wi/Ht feels more rewarding, and C&C more fun. Politics I've gotten into once or twice, but sometimes I feel like the regs there feel like there some sort of elitist society, it kind of irks me.

General is better now than it was at some times in the past, so I can tolerate it. Then again, my memory is kind of fuzzy from my large inactivity period in 2009. General does provide a lot of entertainment sometimes, though.

I really enjoy Clubs & Crews, even though the threads move slowly. The discussion is just much better. I regularly visit Wi/Ht? but I lurk there more than I post.

Politics was the first forum I ever posted in (although it was a one-liner) but the place is so dead. I'd love to see more discussion there. I rarely post there, it's more of a lurker's forum.

Isn't that really common these days? I swear, there must be more statwhores now than any other time I can remember. They're everywhere on the site.

And as for the portal... Oh, it's been a fun day. Had my browser crashed from a couple malware flashes, but other than that, a normal day. Although those "safe meatspin" flashes are damn annoying. So you took a picture of a steak and made it spin to "You Spin Me Right Round," Haha that is so funny. I could make a better animation in Basic.

In other news....
With that vote, you now have 9,980 experience points. You need 10 more to get to Level 31.

No lie, they are everywhere. Post count, medals, blam and save points, reviews, whatever; it's nothing more than stats for them. It's a contest between them all in who has the bigger e-penis.

The fact that people would vote 5 on such flashes simply for the save point saddens me. Apparently the save point is worth more than keeping the Portal free of spam.

I could make a better animation in Basic.

Do it and I will vote 5 haha.

To generate some discussion around here, what would be some ways we could improve the application system?

Currently, what we do is when an applicant submits an application, the NGDD Leaders review it and make sure they meet the department requirements. We then decide whether or not to accept the application.

However, I've thought about improving upon that system:

Step 1) Application posted on NGDD thread.
Step 2) Application moved to NGDD Forums.
Step 3) 3-Day Poll (Voting Period for NGDD Members).
Step 4) NGDD Department Leader makes a decision on the application.

I think the recruitment process is fine the way it is. Until we start getting many more applications, there's no need to change the system.

I definitely don't know who you are, but thanks for the useful input on your first post as an alt?

Anyway, onto further business.

:Step 1) Application posted on NGDD thread.

Agreed. We need this so all can see and it will let the non-leadership members know exactly who is trying to join so they could maybe do their own background check.

:Step 2) Application moved to NGDD Forums.

Another Agree from me because this allows us some privacy.

:Step 3) 3-Day Poll (Voting Period for NGDD Members).

Pretty long for a poll, but we could give it a shot. Realistically if 3 or 4 members are fine with the member joining then we should let it go. If there's a problem we can always have them removed.

:Step 4) NGDD Department Leader makes a decision on the application

Or the department leaders could try and decide where their best fit is, or none at all for the first week or two. Just an idea so we have an idea where we might need their help the most. Although I don't mind the choice being entirely up to the user either.

Step 5 - PM the user to let them know they are in.

The biggest issue from the past was people would apply and then never return. We want them to return as soon as possible so it is up to the department head to get on that as soon as the decision is made for a smooth acceptance process.

The 3-day poll allows for our members to review the applicants joining the NGDD and to see whether or not those applicants would be a good addition. And some members may even have prior experiences with these applicants which they might want to share.

So that's why I think having a poll is good.
