Hello all NG users and animators!

We all know about Ebaumsworld.com making money out of stealing. There are also less known sites on the Internet that makes money out of your work. A swedish site called hamsterpaj.net, a "company" valued millions of dollars, offers stolen flash from animators appearing on NG. To check it out yourself, the exact web aim to the site and the page where you can see several stolen flashes. http://www.hamsterpaj.net/flashfilmer/

I didn't care so much about this teenage fuck before he got publicity in our biggest newspaper where he was claimed to be a brilliant young enterpriser. He's a fucking scam. I wrote him an email yesterday and he answered like this:

"Are you paying revenue for the flash you are displaying on your site?"
Answer: Nah, it's toooo expensive (his inmature writing)

"You can go to court for this"
Bring it on, the loser pays for the costs, you know ;)

Someone should bring this little focker down to poverty. I beg you all to show him that his days are numbered. Send all your hate mail to his personal web adress

johan@rodent.se

Show him that we care.

Yours, El_Muerte_Roya

That's not the same thing.
It's liek you taking ren and stimpy episodes and airing them on your
own TV station without permission, then enjoying the money it brings in.

i've vowed to him in a email that i'll make a thread in as many forums as i can and tell them how bad he steals.

Also heres the emails:
Me: you wont be so talented when you're exposed in the newspapers as a flash stealer
Him: > you wont be so talented when you're exposed in the newspapers as a flash
> stealer

First of all, you GUESS that the newspapers will write about this matter.
Since it's your own personal belief, don't treat it as a fact. Sticking to
reality will make discussing with you a lot easier :)
As to my personal belief, I think you will be proved wrong, I really doubt
that any major newspaper will publish even the smallest line about this...

I don't really see how my talent would be affected by articles in the
newspapers. A definition of the word:

# S: (n) talent (a person who possesses unusual innate ability in some
field or activity)
# S: (adj) talented, gifted (endowed with talent or talents) " a gifted
writer"

What the newspapers write about me and our website may change the way
other people look at me and my collegues, but it won't change us. No one
of us has never claimed to be great flash animators.
We are good at PHP, MySQL, system design and managing projects. That's our
talent.

Have a nice day!
Regards, Johan Höglund

Me: it isnt my own personal belief. its a fact. i know where most of those flashes came from.

Him: Either you really misunderstood me, or you've got really cool
fortune-telling abilities :D

> it isnt my own personal belief. its a fact.
Please show me a link to the future article in the newspapers. Oh, mabye
that isn't possible, do you think print-screens can travel in time?

Please explain to me how something that hasn't happened yet is a fact?

> i know where most of those
> flashes came from.
So?
I've never said we make them ourself, they are collected from all over the
Internet That's no secret.

Regards, Johan Höglund

Me: then i'll just make a thread on as many forums as i can and see what they think!

I'll update you with my own thread once hes replied

the problem is copyright laws don't apply to the internet, so unless we sign up his email to every spam site on the net to render it unusable theres not much chance we can stop him.

get someone to make a sig with his email on it and motivational language to spam and shit

I LUFF YOU ALL

Response to Ebaums legacy carried forth 2006-05-26 10:32:02

maybe your going about this the wrong way, its no use confronting the guy as hes not interested

it would be better to email the creators of the stolen content, asking them if they knew their work had been appropriated and providing them the link to the site

their work is their own intellectual copyright by law and if they decide they dont want their work on this guys site, they are within their rights to ask for it to be removed

and if its not removed, they can take legal action to have it removed, just the threat of dozens of legal suits should give that guy a bad day

Response to Ebaums legacy carried forth 2006-05-26 10:33:12

theyve got some fuckred up language

Why don't people add that action script where when it only can be played at NG?

Well I think there is one...

Well I think there is one...

its possible to decompile a swf and remove that code, too much work for some though, another thing animators could do is "watermark" their flash

what i mean is, put some text like "If you are viewing this anywhere but newgrounds.com it has been stolen" into the background, maybe only for 5 or 10 seconds near the beginning of the flash
if its actually part of a bitmap(s) in the flash instead of a seperate object on top, it will be a difficult thing to remove

Thats because English isn't there first language.
Theives and Illiterates. God, how can it get any worse!

Oh yeah, and the guy who posted his conversation with that sites admin, you sucked and got owned. You didn't put up a good arguement, confront him with links to other flashes and links to laws that apply to them.

Copyright laws don't change purely because you've posted your work on the internet. I know we live in different countries, but without having any prior knowledge of your legal system I can say that it would be completely illogical for England's copyright laws to treat the internet any differently that ours in the States.

Think about it, let's say you've created a flash animation, regardless of whether you register a copyright with the government, it is a copyrighted work. Now why would that copyright change just because you wanted to display it on the internet? That's like saying it's okay to to take a camcorder into a movie theater to film a movie because it's being shown in public.

Bottom line, as long as an original creation was made by you no one has the right to take it without your permission. The internet does not give people immunity to steal.

I see that the very own Johan Höglund has found his way into my post. Good job Johan!

As someone mentioned, we must inform the artists who's work has been stolen. I've written an email to the creator of the Ebaums song, a guy who should have connections and the enough respect to get the animators into this.

Like Bjoerg said, the bastard has given in before and may well do it again. Espacially if all the artists push him. My personal interest just lays in damaging his halo made in that newspaper article, therefore I've written in the truth to the newspaper. Our "dear" Mr Höglund has also provided me with useful quotes to give to the newspaper, in our mail exchange.

Fuck you Hamsterpaj.
