I'd like to join this club! I'm not completely sure if I understood the point system though: Am I going to review some or all of the weekly submissions and get points for this? And shall I post my weekly points in this thread so you can keep track of it? Where are every user and their points stored anyways?

There are many things I find confusing, probably because you only use this thread to give information, get review requests, get members etc. I suggest a web site! :D I can help creating one...

Hi and welcome to the club!

I'm not completely sure if I understood the point system though: Am I going to review some or all of the weekly submissions and get points for this?

People request reviews for their submissions in this thread. You get points for reviewing those.
Once a week a list is posted that contains all requests made during that week. I suggest that you start reviewing the requests Bezman posted on the list on page 184 (the list is near the bottom of the page).

And shall I post my weekly points in this thread so you can keep track of it?

Once you have reviewed as many requests as you like you post your points in this thread and you will be included to the list. You should report back until next Sunday.
May I suggest that you put a bit more thought into your reviews? Some of them are fine and detailed, but you also have some reviews that are only one sentence long. Those aren't helpful for the author at all. Tell them what you liked and what you didn't like. Then try to give some advice on how the author can improve their submission.

Where are every user and their points stored anyways?

Once a week there is an update of the memberlist. The current list was posted by me on page 183. You also find a list of how many points you get for what in that post.

There are many things I find confusing, probably because you only use this thread to give information, get review requests, get members etc. I suggest a web site! :D I can help creating one...

A webiste isn't necessary, it's just too much work. This is a club that reviews NG-submissions and nothing else. This thread is good enough for all our needs. ;)

Of course, no need to compare my older reviews to what I'll contribute with in this club :)

I wasn't thinking of a big site, maybe just a small site where general information (rules, users and points) is available and easy to find (no need to scroll through this thread to gather information), so you can link to this site instead of posting the same posts in this forum on every new page. May I suggest a wetpaint wiki site? That's definitely not too much work ;)

Thanks for the membership!

14 audio 8 x 14 = 112
9 flash 6 x 9 = 54
112 + 54 = 166
166 + 399 = 565
total: 565

also i'm sorry to say this but i wont be submitting points anymore, because although it's fun fact is what with some of you ranting on about quality of reviewing.
well honestly you kinda sucked the fun right out of it.
telling me what to do doesn't work for me.
this is a pretty good idea. but i am not bothered about point system anymore.
so i will still review, not all but some..
but if you want me out of the club, then just say.
thanks for letting me hang around in the first place, it was fun while it lasted...

Thanks for the membership!

I think that posting the club info on the top of each page has a few advantages.

a) it puts the info in front of casual requestors, who may not click a link. With the rules at the top of each page, folk no longer have an excuse to not read them.

b) club regulars are reminded of the rules and could easily spot something that needs to be changed

c) as it's a big post, new members are maybe more likely to notice it and continue posting it each page.

If it were on a website, we'd be able to fit more info in. However, all the info we'd want to put in is already less than the character limit of a single post.

Having said that, someone suggested trimming the 'page-ly post' - only keeping the most important rules - and linking to a web page with more info. That way, folk may be more likely to pay attention to what's written.

I had no clue what a 'wetpaint wiki site' is but am checking it out now.

I agree with the advantages you mentioned, but still an additional wetpaint can be pretty useful in many ways.

Nice, I joined! Let's try to build up a decent wetpaint site. Wetpaint is a type of wiki site where anyone one the net can register and contribute (don't worry, if spammers are caught they can easily be banned and pages can be restored). Very easy to use, and developed to be perfect for clubs, clans and people that share the same interest. Like "Review Request Club" :D

I'm guessing the 399 points are coming from the total score he has gotten from past weeks. Even though I never included those points in my totals before.

CLUB INFO
...............................

General Rules for Requesters:
If you are planning on requesting reviews, please:
- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 requests within one week.
- Do us a favour and respond to our reviews.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you request.
- Do NOT request without posting a link.
- Do NOT just say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.

General Rules for New Reviewers:
If you are planning on completing requests, please do the following:
- Post in this thread to let us know you'd like to join.
- Understand the points system and keep track of your own score. You will only be added to the list if you post your own score within the first week.

Points:
**Please also keep track of your own points. If you see something missing, it's probably a mistake**
**To be on the list, you must make at least one review, posters only will not be counted**

5 points for a review on a requested movie/game
7 points for a review on a requested audio
+1 point for putting "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review
3 points for posting at least once throughout the week
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post)
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations for that week

Club updates
Each Sunday or Monday, Haggard or Shanus currently create a list of all the members, counting up their points, calculating various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions listed, you will get points for them on the following members' update, 6 or 7 days later.

On Thursday, Bezman currently creates a list of all requests and recommendations made up until then, since the previous thursday. This can be seen as a 'preview' of the list that will accompany the following members' update on Sunday/Monday. The points for these are tallied 10 days later.

Requests made between the 'preview list' and the 'members' update' carry over to the next preview list. So you will always have over 9 days to finish the reviews. (Feel free to review submissions as soon as they are requested!)

FAQ
Should we have a FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.

Should I link to the club in my sig?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the url and if that page doesn't exist yet, NG will take you to the latest page, whatever it is.

So if you link to: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4834 48/999
then anyone following that link will always see the latest page.

I don't understand what recommendations are all about!
As mentioned under this section in each list, 'You may make a recommendation if you reviewed 100% of the previous weeks requests and recommendations. It should be over 3 days old and have under 50 reviews.'

As long as your name is on the last 'All requests completed' list, feel free to recommend something you've enjoyed from the portal.

You could use this to let us know about something you think is specially awesome, yet overlooked. If there aren't many game or movie requests, maybe you could make a recommendation so we have something to review.

Does the Review Request Club review stuff for non-NG stuff?
Short answer: no.

Long answer: Milinko used to include youtube requests in the list of requests, but the introduction of a points system didn't leave room for such things. You can request reviews here, but some of us may not have accounts on Myspace/Youtube/whatever or may simply be disinclined to review things outside NG. It wouldn't get nearly as much attention compared to if it were a NG submission.

I'd suggest putting songs on the AP, then making a request that way. It lets us give feedback whilst staying on our favourite site. ;-)

...............................

Plaintext version here. If a new page hase begun and this info has not been posted yet, please copy the text in the link above and post it, thus keeping this info at the top of each page.

Okay, I'll hold my hands up because I missed a review, but I could have sworn that I'd reviewed that particular request. I remember listening to it and describing all of the emotions that it provoked. I just can't have hit the submit button, but that in itself is quite strange.

Still, I've got 23 reviews to make this week and I'm not going to the pub this Sunday, so there's plenty of time to deal with the likes of them >:)

I use Firefox and it's the best browser for Wetpaint sites. I've experienced some crashes with IE but over all it works good. Never tried opera, and with safari some of the editing possibilities are missing. I suggest that you use Firefox when editing the site. It is the best browser right?? Better than IE at least........

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but why do I only have 15 points?

Looks nice, but doesn't work properly with Opera (the edit bar looks very weird). And the IE crashed on me, when I tried to edit something. And I'm NOT going to try if Firefox works for me.
So I can't put this update on there, as I can't edit the page.

Well, Opera is the best browser, but let's not start a browser war here. ;)
You're right that FF is A LOT better than the IE, but usually I'll try IE first when Opera doesn't suceed. First of all, most people that code websites will only check if their site works in IE and second, I can easily start it with the command "iexplore". To start Firefox I have to browse through the depths of my program folder. ^^
I didn't felt like trying FF with Wetpaint when two browsers didn't work.

Because I only found two reviews from you. Maybe you reviewed the "wrong" list. The update was based upon the list found on page 183. The preview list on page 184 is for the next update. Maybe you reviewed the request on that list?

A respectable review/request stat.

Thanks for the update, Haggard!

Also - welcome back Shanus. :-)

I can do that. Shouldn't take too long.

Perfect Insanity had volunteered and I've gotten a PM stating that he's still willing.

As far as I know, that's still the plan.

I was able to edit stuff on Firefox on OSX. What've you got against it, Haggard?

I personally don't see a reason to duplicate the lists on that site, unless folk start checking there rather than looking back a page.

I liked the idea of having a place for folk to easily work on a set of 'FAQs' or add on info if some is needed.

I think it'd be cool to keep records of the co-op stats (reviews/submission each week would be interesting and meaningful, imo) but as for the weekly updates, I'm not sure there's any benefit to posting them there.
