Whoops, I ought to post my favorite bands, even just to show everyone else. They are:

1349
Immortal
Emperor
Satyricon (older stuff)
Anaal Nathrakh
Burzum
Thyrane
Finntroll
Rotting Christ
Catamenia (melodic black)
Enslaved

(That's it, off the top of my head)

And I am always, ALWAYS open to suggestions.

Ghoul - I haven't had the time. (I just got up as I'm writing this), But I will check it out ASAP. Thanks.

If you count Finntroll and Rammstein as Black Metal, I'll join.

Finntroll -- MAYBE. Rammstein is a DEFINITE no. That is the biggest joke I've ever heard.

But, you can always post. If you keep your posts on topic.

I also like Enslaved's old material more, "Frost" is my favourite album by them. Still, I liked "Below the Lights" quite a lot and I hope "Ruun" sounds more like this one.

I kinda don't like Below the Lights or Isa or Monumension; all three strike me as being a bit boring; like older Enslaved but with less passion or abandon. However, Vikinglgr Veldi and Blodhemn are their best, in my opinion.

GChrist i am reviewing your album right at this moment, it is really good!

doesn't Count Crishnack get out of jail this March, does anybody else want a new album by him? and I enjoy Burzum for their music and not their ideology, just wanted to point this out

Response to Black Metal Grimclub 2006-05-07 11:23:56

sorry i wanted to say May not March

I loved all Burzum except his S/t, which I found to be quite average, whose only good songs were My Journey to the Stars, A Lost And Forgotten Sad Spirit (Yes, I am kvlt and tr00-- I have the original version!), and Feeble Screams From Forests Unknown. But even those songs paled in comparison to DSEV or HLTO. I love Daudi Baldrs and Hlidskjalf, tho.

Thyrane: Symphonic black metal (old), Blackened industrial metal (new) (according to metal-archives)

Both are on BMR, I enjoyed them both but have yet to get a cd from either, though I've been trying. The Thyrane song is Symphonic black, not the industrial. It reminds a bit of Emperor, though I get a hellish atmosphere from the song I heard instead of a cold one I got from the Emperor cd... At any rate, I enjoyed them both, and I recommend.

Though, I am not sure what episode. Sorry : (

Response to Black Metal Grimclub 2006-05-08 00:38:58

I don't mean to double post (sorry), but I have the Episode numbers for the songs:

Catamena - "Hollow Out - Chaos Born" off of Chaos Born, Episode 86, Track 13

Thyrane - "Symphony of Infernality" off of Symphonies of Infernality, Episode 91, Track 4

Also, I heard Setherial through BMR as well...Its good, I enjoyed it and will see about picking up a cd...The song was "The Aeschma Deaba" off of Hell Eternal.

A note about the Thyrane song: Vocals were a little wierd for me (but still good), and it is a bit more unlike Emperor than I orignially thought (Its been a couple weeks since I've listened to the song, and it doesn't remind me of them like I thought it did), so disregard that comment.

You guys know about the rumors of Abbath teaming up with the old Immortal drummer and Gorgoroth's bass player, simply called "I"? It sure sounds interesting :)

Oh and I hope some of you guys are still working on the review for my album ;)

I heard of that last October; they were supposed to come out with an album in mid November of 2005, but I guess not.

It's been a busy week for me, but I'm listening to your album a lot and shall get to reviewing it soon.

just found that:

"I, the new band consisting of former Immortal frontman Abbath, original Immortal drummer Armagedda, Enslaved guitarist Arve Isdal and Gorgoroth bassist King ov Hell, have signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band will enter the studio at the end of this month to begin recording their debut album, which will feature lyrics written primarily by former Immortal guitarist Demonaz. A late 2006 release is expected.

I will make their live debut on August 26 at the Hole In The Sky festival in Bergen, Norway. Additional live appearances will be announced soon."

Thank you a lot :)

GC: I am in the process of writing a review. It will be a positive one, : ), but its taking a while because I am busy and because I wanted to give your cd an appropriate amount of time...

I am looking forward to that project, and will be on the lookout for leaks.

Thnx, love both of them. I'm into atmospheric bm.

I'm picking up the CD Nord by Setherial soon.

The vocals were awesome. Generally, I'm not too picky about vocals, as long as they enunciate and don't sound like what I call "Swirlie vocals"

Oh, and I just listened to BloodThorn on BlackmetalRadio. Their album, In the Shadow of Your Black Wings, sounds to be pretty fucking epic, dark, sorrowful black metal. I love it.

Sweet. I love that album (even though it's one of Burzum's ambient ones; I love all Burzum). What's the special part about the "limited edition Vinyl"?

Well, they are only somewhat related to Black Metal because of their vocals, but do you guys like Agalloch? Blackened Folk Doom Metal. I got their "Pale Folklore" album and it's very good, extremely well done in terms of atmosphere.

I just heard Dissection is re-releasing Storm of Light's Bane with a 74(!) minute long bonus cd and a super-extended booklet. If I find anything out about the booklet, I'll inform.

Any MeloBlack pics?

I've been trying to get my hands on that Catamenia cd for a long time now, but to no avail...

Response to Black Metal Grimclub 2006-05-10 19:43:14

Well, I have a few bands:

Anaal Nathrakh
Behemoth
Borknagar
Dimmu Borgir
Dissection
Gorgoroth
Graveworm
Samsas Traum ( Avant garde black metal/Gothic metal)
Venom

i have no clue. im actually starting to think that the only reason they said it was limited edition was because they didnt have too many of them and that it also gave them the excuse to ass rape the price and make me pay an idiotic amount for it....=(.

I have obtained my Gorgoroth and Burzum shirts finally. The Gorgoroth one is just the Gorgoroth logo with a huge upsidedown cross on the back. The Burzum one is just the Burzum logo with Misanthropy Records on the back.

Kvlt.
