It's...comforting. Knowing you did something great.
You're right :)
It's one of the best sensations I've ever have...
Listen guys/girls: I don't know what's the age you need to donate blood...Here's 18+, but If in your local area is ok to donate even if you're not 18, then go and do it! :)
GENERAL GUIDELINES
To give blood for transfusion to another person, you must be healthy, be at least 17 years old or 16 years old if allowed by state law, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not have donated blood in the last 8 weeks (56 days). "Healthy" means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, "healthy" also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control.
You'll be asked for a form of identification each time you donate. You'll provide this information:
-name
-date of birth
-social security number
We will do a mini-physical examination that includes checking:
-your temperature
-your blood pressure and pulse
-a drop of your blood to be sure you have enough red blood cells (iron count) to donate safely. You'll be asked about your past and present health and lifestyle, and we will answer any questions you may have. Depending on your answers, you may be deferred from donating, either temporarily or permanently.
Before Your Donation:
-Get a good night's sleep.
-Eat a good breakfast or lunch.
-Drink extra water and fluids to replace the volume you will donate, but avoid caffeinated beverages.
-iron-rich foods to boost your iron level. (such as tuna, raisens, red meat)
-Avoid fatty foods. Tests for infections done on donated products can be affected by fatty materials.
-If you are an apheresis donor, eat plenty of calcium-rich foods and drinks for a few days prior to your donation.

The information above came right off of the American Red Cross websites. I helped set up last years blood drive at school, so I pretty much know what is required when it comes to donating blood. Maybe if anyone has any questions, I could do my best to help out as well!
