Yeah. I looked at the first flash I ever sent in. It was blammed in exactly 1 hour 18 minutes 43 seconds. I was really pissed off. I found out that almost every vote was a zero... I totally agree with you, sir...

If I answer no to either of those questions I either choose not to vote at all on the entry, or I give it a zero. Because I think when the work is still under judgement it isn’t a matter of its score, it’s a matter of keeping it on NG or Blaming the shit out of it to get it off.

However, once its fate is sealed, that’s another question. Once its on NG I think then people can be more objective and break down the quality of the flash by the numbers.

I wish that there were more people like you out there. People who do not judge on whether it is this or that. I wish there were people out there who base their votes on whether or not a person put time and effor into something on the site...

psyco man a simple example for a badd quality movie, but still a good movie, everyone is voting a 0 !!!

I feel for people who put time into a Flash that doesn't make it. It sucks, I'm sure.

However, I have pretty much two questions I ask myself, as well-
"Is this something I would show to my friends?"
"Is this something that I am enjoying watching right now?"
If I can say 'yes' to either of these questions while watching a Flash, my vote will be 3-5. Otherwise, I honestly do not see the point of keeping it around.

If, in those cases you are talking about, it really seems people put work into it (and it still sucked) and there's potential, I try to send them an e-mail with suggestions for their next one. But honestly, by the time a Flash has hit 1 or 2 and slips off the radar of the Portal, who is watching it?

A quick side note here, in my guess, I'd say that Strawberry Clock and the Clock Crew's more idiotic members have largely pitted people against the less professional Flash movies. I know that it especially became so much easier to Blam entries after that last Clock Day.

None of the people in the ClockCrew™ are idiots. But I do have to say that I agree with you on everything else...

In other news, I wanted to say that I fullheartedly agree with you about everything else. It is not whether a Flash Cartoon is about Final Fantasy or Resident Evil, but it is about whether or not they put all of their best efforts into it. I put a lot of work into that one preview of the Syko Inc episode 2 Preview and everyone said stuff like "it was a cheap shit take off of Madness." I used music by Sean Hodges, but that does not mean that it is a Madness Rip. I thank Krinkels for inspiring me. My series is supposed to be violent. What kind of Flash Movie is popular without violence today if you are expecting a Madness-type (extremely violent) Flash? I say none. It would just be a false alarm.

I rest my case.

Here is my opinion:
Nothing unless it is stolen, pure porn, excetera, should be deleted from newgrounds. Vote from 2-5, peoples! Don't vote zero just for the extra voting power, vote fairly!

There should only be two choices with which to vote, + or -.

This would prevent people from voting 0's and 5's based solely on hitting the submission with a stronger vote.

-t!MmY

that is a great idea- with the current voting system jerks have way too much power to hurt good movies or help crappy one's.

Aye. Too many assholes have super-weapon voting power. I hope to one day be in the leagues of that power, but not have the lack of braincells that some of the imbeciles have. I am currently working on a series called "SYKO INC" which is similar to the Madness (all rights reserved by Krinkels, Sean Hodges, and all other people of the Flecko team) series. The madness series was my true inspiration. I wanted to make a violent action Flash 'toon preview because it would not fit on the NG.mag section and it would not fit on ImageShack (all rights reserved by the ImageShack.us crew) in a million years... Unless they increased the maximum file size. I wanted my friend to see it, but it was blammed in exactly one hour, eighteen minutes, eleven seconds. I was really pissed off that people did not see that I put in the author's notes that it was a KRINKELS INSPIRED MOVIE. I mean, come on.
People should not simply vote zero because they want a blam point or because they think that a movie sucks. They have to take into consideration how much effort a person puts into a movie. Personally, I only have two options when it comes to voting. I either vote ZERO... or FIVE... I think that it is absolutely useless to have two through four.
Sadly, I find myself voting a zero. People today will put in their notes something like "blam this... I hate it." or "free blam point" or "I know it's crappy." If you know that a Flash that you made sucks, why did you post on the site anyway? It really annoys me. Some of the inconsiderate assholes are making the rest of us newbies all look like sucky animators. It just is not right. We newbies need to look out for eachother. Look at me. I am only a level five. I look at these other accounts and see voting powers of 20 or more! It really gets me angry when I know that these people simply stereo-type us and don't give us a chance.
When I went to view my submitted Flash the next day, it was blammed. People said, MADNESS TAKE OFF, or Host this on imageshack where you don't have to worry about getting it blammed. HELLO! I KNOW ABOUT IMAGESHACK! EVERYONE DOES! YOU THINK I HAVE NOT ALREADY TRIED THAT? NewGrounds is usually my last ditch effort when hosting something because I have to worry about getting it blammed. Ther should be a section on NewGrounds where you need special permission and a password of some sort so that you can be approved to host something. I am not saying it should be done immediately, but beta programs can be made to test this out.
Long story short, I think that there should be a safe-haven on NewGrounds where you can host something after it being approved by a higher-power member or administrator. It is not fair for newbies who want to show their friends something bigger than one megabyte and have to worry about it being blammed before it is viewed. Everyone should get a fair chance...
I know that this was a long message, and I am sorry about that. Please don't tell me about how I was "bitching on about something useless." My opinion counts, too. Please take into consideration what these ideas can do for people...

That's not true at all. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't voting power based on experience and blam/save levels. Most of the "better" artists devote all their time to animation and are very low levels.

This is not always true. Look at LegendaryFrog for example. He is a good animator with a high voting power. You can not stereotype a person or group...

If this world was created for honesty and fairness, we would all have tight pussys and foot-long dicks. There is nothing wrong with the way that people vote nowadays. They just want to be worth more. What they need to learn is, the longer that you have spent on the site, the bigger your dick is (No offence Shrapnel and other ladies in the higher-ups). I think that if we could all just vote how we would as a decent person, then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

Well... I dont know if anyone talked about it in the past pages but as example of unfairly voted movies would be the Wadolf series by piconjo since alot of annoying LF fans immediatly vote 0 when they see the name of Piconjo as author or of one of his group. Hopefully, not all did that and it still got a nice score...

Erm.. Wade, I do vote fairly, but for things I really hate I leave offensive reviews. I got banned from reviewing, and It's been over 1 and a half months and I'm still banned. I only joined about 2 months ago, and I got banned from the BBS liek 5 times already, and I need something to vent my opinions. Otherwise, I will vent them harshly every time I get out of my BBS ban. I got banned every saturday for the past 3 weeks, and I do something worse liek every time. Could you please Tell me how long it takes to get out of a review ban, because I really want to review again, other wise I'm gonna eventually post something seriously racist or hurtful in the BBS. I'm not even sure your gonna reply to my shitty rant, because there is 17 pages on this topic. I hope if you do reach this you will reach it before BigBadRon, Because he's gonna ignore the real meaning of my post and might ban me for getting off topic. I think BigBadRon hates me for something, because he banned me for these past 3 weeks in a row. Maybe I posted something against his opinions, I'm not really sure of anything. I'm really ranting now. So any way, could you possibly tell me how long it could take to get out of my review ban? Thanks. Happy holidays.

I think the solution is to force people to view entries before they are allowed to vote, so maybe they'll feel bad about voting 0 for no reason.

I agree with you 999 cuz everytime I try to vote between a 0 and 1, I usually choose one cuz I think the submission is total crap. There should be 1+ 1- and all that except for 0. That should just be the plain old 0.

The problem with some users is they don't know how to vote (I know it already has been said, but some ppl din't read.)They vote 0 on great flash material just because they don't like it or it's not their kind of movies. They should at least vote 1. But I didn't said to vote 1 on evrything. You can vote 0 on utter crap, stolen, malicious or on abusive. And some movies on the top 50 are lowered by users who vote 0 on movie they just hate, of for rising the score of them they like. That's stupid. Give the movies you hate a chance and watch them instead of voting 0 without even watching. Maybe you don,t care, but someone must say it.

If you can read this, you learned english language. Go, you.

Reality check? It does make you more powerful. The more blams and protects you have, the more your voting power is.
And blams come along a lot more often than protects.
