The factis that they can also tell there frineds to vote 5 without watching, so either way, it could win an award by massive vote 5 by friends who dont even watch the movie. Think about this one. It's almost impossiable to vote 5 10 times with alts, unless its a hack, or maybe my his computer (friend) has a problem, becuse alts and vote 5 after your main account votes five on the same movie. Again the IP blocks it saying : You have already voted on this submission, your next new grounds gold.... blah blah ect.

I dont know why someone would try and hack this to make the alt be able to vote 5. The must really suck at aniting. I can see the author voting 5 on this, I have as well, but didnt help (lol oh well) it still got blammed, I highly dout that someone could use alts like that and make it be able to vote 5. It doesn't work right. Even if so, NG is sooo fucking huge that it will be a very hard thing to do to track down alts, plus, frineds may know account and use to get around a ban or something, or do stuff with it. Learn to deal with the fact that alts will allways be on NG, wither you like it or not.

no not really. its more the other way around. for one, it dosent take time to make movies that piss people off XD that can be done in a few minuts. the portal award thing, what flash artist dosent want a portal award? really the hole point these groups make shitty flashes is to piss people off that actually do take it seriously. its very funny to watch them complain..

And it pisses me off. I worked really fuckin hard on my pieces for that flash, it would suck if its reputation was marred simply from what some of the reviewers did >:(

I was going to try and read through all these post, but I stopped on page 4. You people are dumb and always twist around what I say.

For starters I never blammed any group for the recent events. I never said groups can't vote or review on their member's entries, I was only saying if they were ethical people they wouldn't and would let the entry stand on it's own merits and let the NG audience decide it's fate. I'm not going to enforce that, I was just painting a picture of how I'd like to see things.

It's obvious to everyone when a group is abusing the system. If some group, any group, submits something crappy, and their group gets behind it and gives it straight 10's for review scores, when it's clearly not worth a 5, it should raise a red flag. Why should the other users and authors tolerate shit like this?

If someone that belongs to a group submits something the members need to give it a fair review. If I watch something and it's garbage and I see a large group of people that belong to the author's group giving it scores it doesn't deserve, we may have to start taking action. Especially if we find members of that group targetting entries that are competeing for an award and giving it unfair low marks in an effort to tip the scale.

Why should some artist spend a month or two on a Flash to lose an award to some asshole that spent 15-30 minutes putting together some crappy production, or a group of 4 people spending 15-30 minutes each to make a collab or shit, because that group got all their buddies to vote high.

Now sometimes these groups do submit something good and if it is worthy of a 10 and the members all give it review scores of 10's, that's fine. However, if it's clearly something not very good and it's getting 10's just because the group is all banding together to inflate the score, that's a problem.

The sad thing is a lot of these groups that do this could actually be successful Flash artists if they put more energy into their Flash and submitting their stuff as individuals, instead of as a group. Instead of trying to shock, offend, irritate, and abuse the system they could make something that people might actually like. If they kept up a regular series they may find themselves with more fans than IWP or Legendary Frog.

That's what is so great abou Newgrounds. IWP or Legendary Frog weren't anyone special, they just submitted their work and it took off from there. They didn't try and abuse Newgrounds or manipulate our system.

So these other groups that like to screw with Newgrounds are only giving themselves a bad name and will make it hard for anyone who chooses to associate with their group a hard time of ever becoming successful.

They know what times work best, find out who they have to target to vote down, etc. Many of these entries winning Turd of the Week and Review Crew Pick and Under Dog shouldn't be winning. They are winning because the people behind the entries have found ways to win the awards.

How is that fun to the rest of the NG audience? We now see entries that won these awards because the author's found ways to manipulate the system, rather than seeing the entries that would have won the awards by the voting patterns of our overal audience.

The NG audience needs to take notes. Take notice to what users are winning these awards. Investigate to see if they won the award fairly or if you think foul play was involved. If you feel they maniuplated the system to win the award take note of who they are and what group the belong to. In the future don't support their work. Cheats deserve 0's on future submissions. Blam their work right off the portal, good or bad. If they cheat the system they don't deserve to use it. If they learn their lesson, vote fairly on their work again.

Unfortunately my comments here won't reach enough people to make this effective.

As far as the Top 50 it's not that big of a deal. The majority of our audience doens't even go into the Portal. They go to our front page, and into the toons, games, and collection and series showcases.

Now I did my research before I jumped to the conclusion that he reivewed zero in order to gain himself an award. It is blindingly obvious that he infact IS NOT INNOCENT. It is also obvious that the VGDC forums DO MASS VOTE, and MASS REVIEW THEIR CRAPPY SPRITES. Yet I never see complaints for them, as their account names dont end in "lock" or "star"

When I make a film, I post it on the Lockleigon / Clockcrew/ Star Syndicate Forums. The users of the forums are there to vote as THEY WISH. Mass voting and voting 10 just for the sake of it is DISCORUAGED. But people do it anyways. Just like If I show my best friends my movie, they are inclined to support me.

Now I have seen Knox and Illwillpress steal more awards then the SS, CC, LL VGDC and GG combined. Yet they are never bitched at, because they dont all belong to a tight group.

The new rule about Mass voting is fair, I personally hate it. But I also hate overrated shit being voted 5 by fanboys, just for the sake of who the author is.

In conclusion I say.

Wade do some research before you go making accusations. I didnt just randomly review zero because I wanted some shitty Star Syndicate collab to win some shitty award. I reviewed zero because that asshole decided that he could rig the portal to steal himself a review crew.

Time rarely enters into it. SS Turds have been almost entirely legitlately, and they shouldnt even really bother you, since its supposedly an insulting award and we're only hurting ourselves by winning it.

I have been pushing for that fucking walrus collab to be released for so long, looking forward to it so much, and I didn't participate in any of the activities to give it the award. In fact I suggested against it (if in a sarcastic way). Why the fuck should I be punished, especially if I advised against the actions taken? Why should people not care about the content of the flash because of the mother fucking reviews?
