Oh c'mon guys! get those chins up, it's just been a slow week and the weekend should yeild quite a few points. B/P ing isn't all newgrounds has for a user to do; post, read blogs, play games, so many things! The NG blues haven't hit me and they never will!

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you all know that the NGDD Report tonight is going to be extremely important. It seems stupid and odd that I would warn you all in advance, but I want to make sure all of the "daytime" NG-time users get the message and make sure to read it when they get the chance.

I'll be making the post around 11 p.m. tonight or so, but this is the only other time I can actually get on today due to the fact I'm working 8:30-7 p.m. Thanks for your time.

I've been working on the roster expansion, and it's looking fairly good so far. Hopefully it'll be all good to go by Tuesday, but I still have a few decisions to make in regards to what I'm including and what I'm not. Thanks to everybody for the ideas so far, I appreciate all the input.

If anybody has something they'd like to see added to the roster, here's the place to suggest it. It's not too late, although I'm hoping to have the expansion wrapped up by Monday evening at the very latest.

Still, keep posting suggestions if you have any. When I've finished expanding the roster, I'll unpin the topic I linked above and keep it open as a suggestions thread. When that happens, you're all still welcome to post ideas if they come to you, but there's no need to be as proactive about it.

Newgrounds Department of Defense Weekly Report - Week Two
Friday, May 23, 2008.

I bring this report to the Elite Guard Barracks' attention as possibly one of my more important reports because it has to do with a couple of important ideas I've had for the improvement of the Newgrounds Department of Defense, while at the same time benefitting the EGB.

My first idea obviously will benefit the Elite Guard Barracks. I will try and encourage all of my members with the proper requirements to become regular members of the EGB. This may sound obvious to all of you because there are many members of the NGDD who are also members of the EGB, but not all of them. This would benefit the EGB because the number of applicants could rise, which is a problem both groups have.

My second idea ties in with the first, but adds a little flavor. I understand that many of you were members of the NGDD in the past and also that there is probably a good reason you're not members of it anymore, which I understand completely. From what I have seen in the NGDD the quality of posting has gone somewhat downhill. A lot of our older members have left and there are tons of newer members who have joined and do not understand how to properly post in a place like the NGDD. I AM the leader, and I know that falls into my job description - to lead by example, but sometimes it just isn't enough.

Basically what I was trying to say in the last paragraph is that I am looking for new members, and what better place to try and recruit than the EGB. What do you all get out of it? Well, you'll have a chance to compete in a couple of this month's contests worth real life prizes. I'm not jerking your chains about that either. The money comes from my own pocket. The NGDD doesn't have as much competition in its contests as there used to be. So far I've come in second place in both the BBS and Portal Department contests by not putting very much effort in.
An example would be our Portal Department Contest. Something like that would be no competition for some of you. The highest score out of a week was around 350 B/Ps (Idiot-Finder) then the second place was me with somewhere over the 150s. For some of you that's almost a joke.

Some of you may be somewhat disappointed by this report, but I'm requesting some members from here join so that both of our "Armies" can return to the power that they used to have. We both still receive tons of respect, but a lot of our best members - from both groups - have long gone. I'm only asking you to join, you don't have to. I don't care how long you stay or anything, but give it a shot. What do you have to lose? Nothing, but you have everything to gain.

The post quality hasn't changed much in here and i can't say for the NGDD, but definitely in the NGPD; the majority of posts are oneliners. And this worries me greatly for a few reasons. It isn't that I hate General, there are some good threads there that are worth posting. What I hate about it is that good threads often get overlooked due to sex related threads. I just checked the first page of General, 7 out of 40 threads caught my interest. The rest is plain crap. This is why I don't post there often, good threads are quite rare.

I'll definitely think about joining the NGDD. My main qualm with it at the moment is the issue of time - If, when I go to university in September, I find I have enough NG time to make joining the NGDD worthwhile, then I'll definitely apply. I do have a fairly significant role over here, though, as I hold two officer positions, so I don't want to forsake the responsibilities that those positions entail.

With B/P rank ups, it's more acceptable to post them in here, seeing as we are a club that revolves around B/P to an extent. EXP level ups on the other hand should stay in the level up lounge, otherwise it could potentially be considered spam. Trust me on this one, don't do it in future.

I thank you for such a comprehensive report! This is the kind of stuff I want to see, and I knew you'd be perfect for the job. You being in charge of the NGDD certainly helps us bang heads together and work with! That being said, I'd like to quickly respond to your ideas.

First off, the "sharing of our members" is a great idea. I think it is only fair that we ask each other's groups for co-membership, as we do have similar ideas, but have different things to offer. In fact, I would join myself, except my time commitments keep me pulled thin. However, I know that there are unique things that each club gives to its members, so it's a great idea. I think it's only fair for eligible NGDD members to see the EGB and if it's good for them, and it's a good idea for EGB members to check out the NGDD again. Even if you were a former member, I am sure the post quality and the organization of the group will be in good hands at this point, so you can expect a better experience.

However, back to the EGB for a moment...I haven't been posting lately because I've been busy at work and have been busy on my server. I still have a lot of work to do to get my server ready for production use. This includes getting a new hard drive to hold data and getting a battery backup unit to protect it from power outages. So, have patience, I will be getting all those services for the EGB sooner or later. I plan on serving out the following with my server:

- phpBB forums (new forums for the EGB)
- Ventrillo server (for IMing/voice chatting)
- new web server (for Barracks podcast and for EGB website)
- full backups for all this stuff (so we don't lose our forums again)

So, just give me time...I'll get everything up soon enough. :-)

Thanks for the update, Joshiwa. Slowly reeling in pwroftheseagoat and slowly getting reeled in myself by EagleRock. Looks like I'll be staying at position number 7 for a while then :P

There's some irony - I gained +9.3 per day and pwroftheseagoat lost the same. +18.6 swing to Coop!

I've slowed down a lot but I don't think you're much of a threat just yet. I've got a feeling we'll be close in ranks for a long time to come. But with work, going back to school, and volunteer work kicking my ass my pace is in a downward spiral.
