Hi there i would really like to join, im already a member of Elite Guard Barracks. I like the sound of the Portal Department. This is for NGGD i not sure if this the right way to join it, i wondered is this ok with EGB.

Hahaha, yeah its ok. Many of our members are in the NGDD, you don't need our permission to join other clubs. Looks like it is the proper way to join them.

As for the thread that Wade started in General about Under Judgment voting, I've put in my two cents on the matter over in that thread - top of page 10 I think.

Let's hope that this helps quell the save-whoring culture to a certain degree. It really has gotten out of hand lately.

Well I have the honor of waiting 2 hours as my wife tries on her bridesmaid dress for her friend's wedding. Here I sit in David's bridal tapping away on my iPhone...sigh.

Either way I hope wade keeps this going. Oscar had the idea of more portal mods. I'd love to see that as long as we get good ones in there, not corruptnonss of foolish ones that do not care. What do you guys think?

I think Portal mods would be a good idea, but they would need to use regular users that have a nice B/P pace and would be able to spend time on Newgrounds to do the job of a mod. I suppose they could use a few of the current mods but some fresh faces would be nice.

Portal mods has been under discussion for a long time, and I support the idea, as long as - like you say - they get the right people for the job, and give them the right measure of power. Could definitely be a step in the right direction for NG.

I remember Wade responding, saying that when the admins got done with everything that they needed to do, that eventually such an order would be established to help with the flagged submissions and such. But who would make a good Portal mod? Among the current mod crop I can see BlueHippo being a Portal mod; Supreme Commander and Deity whistle, very helpful on the BBS, and all that. Or perhaps some EGB members would be fit for the job? Maybe. Who do the rest of you think would make a good Portal mod?

Well, BBS mods are BBS mods. Not all BBS mods are necessarily Portal mod material. Someone that has credentials to properly moderate a forum doesn't necessarily have the skills/morals necessary to protect the Portal, and vice-versa. I'd think you'd need a separate group of moderators. Sure, there could be overlap (e.g. BlueHippo maybe), but not necessarily.

Honestly, I'd have to say that a lot of the Barracks members would have the credentials necessary to roll Portal mod. I know I'd be happy doing it, and would take the job very seriously. But I'm not really one to toot my own horn. However, the person would basically need the following:

- In-depth understanding of the Portal and the rules of submitting/voting - to the point where they can recognize a disallowed Flash in a split-second
- Ability to come on semi-regularly (several times a week to clear out issues)
- Seriousness to take the job for what it is, and not a fucking power trip
- The ability to be impartial in their judgments, including against people that are traditionally hated on the Portal, or people they may not like (EVERYONE deserves fair judgment, no matter their history.

Based on that, I could point fingers and make recommendations. The question is does the new NG site have the ability to grant users forum-mod access? But seriously, it's fucking necessary. They can monitor and block flash that are breaking the rules (even the ones that don't get flagged), and can take the long list of flagged flash off the shoulders of Wade and the other admins. Either way, as long as we get SOMEONE in there (that's good), I'd be so much happier. Sooooooooo much happier.

After 24 hours, if there are no outstanding questions or comments, decision will be made and I'll PM you with the results.

All EGB members are welcome to vote or comment in the appropriate thread (must be logged in to view).

First thing I'd like to ask... when you guys Blam / Protect on the Portal, do you actually vote on the Quality of "Spam Flash" movies that usually get protected 90% of the time? Or do you leave NG's Portal quality on the side to get a "free protection point"?

Like others have said, we vote how we feel. And like the Wade thread showed, it seems like quality-based voting is finally getting its day, heh.

I have conflicting feelings about Afro being blammed, though...on one hand, yeah, they're low-effort. On the other...it's just so epic, heh. I hope he at least gets to Gardevoir before giving up. I love Gardevoir, lol.

The +1 simply means you overtook the person who was originally ahead of you on the list, so you have essentially moved up one spot.

Yeah, I try. You can thank Pancakes for that...he's the one that showed me Wade's thread. I definitely have to stick around to see how this pans out. My guess is it will fizzle until Wade speaks up again, but we'll see how convicted Wade stays with this. Enough busted heads might straighted things up and lower that DEFCON for a while...

That's always good news. It's actually working, as my one major source of review responses has been stopped from submitting flash that always pass. One of the Adolf Hitler: Catching 'em all in 493+ Days was apparently Blammed yesterday.

Dunno about that - I make a fairly decent amount each week, and I'd say I'm an honest B/Per. I seem to get a decent amount of B/P a week, I like to have at least half as many blams as saves. But sometimes I do get almost or more blams in a day, and since Wades thread I have been getting a lot more blams consistently.

Sorry civilian, but you do not have sufficient B/P points to join or ranks, you need a minimum of 2,500 B/P points. You can join the NGPD with a minimum of 400 B/P points, there you can work your way up and gain experience in the portal.

I helped to blam one of those 'Tom Fulp: Deleting 'Em All in 493+ Days' submissions earlier, which is a nice surprise. I usually give those bastards a 0, but this is the first time I've gotten a blam point from it, so I'm pleased.

Looks like people are starting to turn on those submissions. Just goes to show that if even one submission by an author that was originally perceived by many as 'un-blammable' is deleted, it can have a massive effect.
