Man I've really suffered B/P wise these past few days. I think I'm over that now, because the days of me leaving the office have gone again for a few months at least (I hope).

Still, the twat of a colleague of mine who can't bring himself to treat me civvily might just cause me to get posted to Carmarthenshire for a few weeks, which ain't good at all.

Nice going. I have an objective myself. It's not to be passed by Sentio.

Ah, and today, I have only 13 school days remaining, and I wish them to pass fast.

Nice! School is almost done for me as well. Only about a good 16 to 20 days left till summer time. In the summer time, I plan to see my stats rise dramatically.

I think I will be passed though. :(

I'm not far behind. Technically, I have about a month of school, but the last week isn't really a school week, so I got 2 more weeks

Yeah, I'm in a bit of a slump. Teachers are handing out more homework to get our grades up, research projects are due, and summer jobs are beginning to give out hours. I'm surprised I can even have time to post.

Still, the twat of a colleague of mine who can't bring himself to treat me civvily might just cause me to get posted to Carmarthenshire for a few weeks, which ain't good at all.

What do you do? And why doesn't the twat go out there, instead of you?

Every 100 points is one step closer to EGSC :D. I was always aiming for each hundred, it makes the whole thing go so much faster!

Guh... Finally, I don't think I will be able to do that today.
1. I'm not so fast at b/p.
2. I missed a couple of points from the last 9 hours.

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2007-05-24 17:02:13

Wow, did I miss a lot. (Stupid work...)

Let's make some things clear. I know I haven't been around for a long time and that I am indebted to others for running the Barracks when I was gone. However, I do consider myself the Chief Barracks Officer here, and I'd like to say a few things:

One, it pissed me off to see everything that happened yesterday unfold in an evening. I was rather pleased when I came back to see everyone working fine, but all of a sudden this crap rose. I can't say it was pleasant for me to read.

Two, if an officer tells you something, it's for a reason. Sentio is an officer because he is respected by the rest of us and he has a level head. I noticed some people chastizing him about what he said last night, and while he apologized, I can't say there was anything he did wrong. Granted, the arguments here should have been taken to the forums, but I can't really put the blame on Sentio. After all, he was the one that was try to make things right.

Third, Leave the officer stuff to the officers. They were not appointed for no good reason. We don't need people (especially non-members) telling us what our DEFCON is or what we should be doing. Opinions are perfectly fine (and are encouraged), but orders are out. Let us handle it.

Lastly, as far as the suspensions, I leave the decisions to Sentio, as he is the one in my opinion most qualified to make the decision at this point. Both Phantom and I have taken passive roles at this point, and while I am working my way back to an active role, I can't just step right in and make decisions like this in good conscience. It is unbecoming and would be stepping on the toes of those around here running things.

Luckily, though, Phantom and Sentio worked out the details. Sentio, if you feel an extension is in line for either person, it probably wouldn't be out of line. If you want to talk, feel free to talk to me about it. You can PM me, or I'll try to be on the forums later.

I apologize for not being here during it, as I would've jumped in and tried to diffuse the situation myself. I do realize I'm bringing this up after the fact, and I apologize for that too. I just had to get that stuff off my chest, as it did come all-of-a-sudden to me.

I don't mean to rant, but there are things I love and still love about the Barracks, but arguments and annoyances like these aren't one of them. Let's just try to keep things in check, ok?

Ok, I'm done with my big rant. Carry on. Also, sorry to hear about your grandmother, Snerd.

It's been great seeing you visit us more often, Sir. Although as I've always said, I wish it wouldn't be in circumstances such as these. But you got a chance to visit us before this incident occurred, so I reckon your first visit wasn't relevant with what happened yesterday. I also remember hearing you state that you were going to try to visit the Elite Guard Barracks more often and get back on track with Newgrounds, which is something I find very great to hear. I'm sure we've all missed you, Sir, so hearing you're considering to return really puts some more life into the Elite Guard Barracks. :)

I'm certainly going to try. I hate having to give my two cents whenever stuff like this happens, as I feel like I'm just soapboxing and not really contributing, especially since my active role here is pretty much nonexistant. However, like I said, I'm hoping to change that. My World of Warcraft tenure is going to be dropped in favor of LotR Online, which I am only playing with a friend on occasion. So, I'll be able to B/P again, and hopefully resume active officership. Either way, it's great to be back. Like I said, though, my computer is insanely outdated (built it in late 2004 for chrissake), so I'm building a new one soon (parts are on their way). I'll still try to be around as much as possible though.

REVIEW CHALLENGE RESULTS!

Yeah, here are the results from my second review challenge, for the submission Randomness of Thinking. I'd like to point out that votes were cast by the panel (myself, PenguinLink and ILC*), and myself and PenguinLink didn't rank our own reviews, to avoid bias. Each review was given a rank, with the best given 1, the second 2 etc., and the average of these marks was then taken to give these results.

1st Sentio
2nd PenguinLink
3rd Shanus
4th Snerd
5th Azentiger

Don't be disheartened if you didn't come out on top, this is all meant to be in fun and a way to improve our reviewing whilst having a little bit of a competition. I can tell you that the voting was close, and in no way did we all agree on the rankings.

Good luck with this weeks challenge, and it would be great to see a few more people take part!

* Anyone else who is interested PM me, there is more space on this judging panel, and the more we have the fairer the voting will be

I try. I do still care about this place, and I want to get back into it.

My computer won't be a big deal, it's just a matter of waiting for all the damn parts to come. I've built tons of computers, so that part will be easy. The hard part is going to be tweaking Windows and getting my Ubuntu dual-boot to work flawlessly. Plus I'll need to tweak hardware settings to get the most out of games, of course :-)

Keep an eye out? Pfft...I can't B/P like I used to. I have a job now. I can still probably squeeze 30-40 B/P a day if I sneak some at work, but I won't have the 18-hour coverage like Slash and I used to have. I'll do my part, though, and flex that VP. :-)

Anyway, I've come to realize that over the past few months I've been very out of touch with B/Ping and even the EGB. But I've made the decision that I'll be taking a more active role in the Barracks from now on, and also rake up alot more points. This is due mainly to my free 3 months for summer break. But also to the fact that each day when I check the thread, I have nearly no clue what is going on and can't really help or advise. Well back to B/Ping

Oops, when I planned that post in my head there was definitely a line that went 'all of the reviews were fantastic, so a great job by everyone that took part', but when I came to writing it that bit stayed somewhere in my head. I have a habit of planning all of my posts in my head for 10 minutes (usually whilst watching TV/listening to music), and then when I come to type it all just flows out- indeed that is what I am doing right now, and I do the same with stories. Sadly sometimes what is in my head doesn't make it out of my fingers and into my posts :S

Rest assured that you did great though, and don't tell the others, but I didn't vote for you as 5th ;)

Well, kids. I've officially graduated from high school. My speech was short, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. I'm happy. At least for one night, I can put my everyday bullshit aside. In fact, I saw my aunt that has cancer. She showed up tonight. She looked good. My family is quite proud.

Amazingly, I didn't stutter through my speech. I read it in a clear, normal voice. I didn't shake. I looked at the audience. I used hand gestures. For someone that hates public speaking and considering the large crowd we had, I did fine.

I'd say tonight went just great.

Well, I certainly can't say I hate my job...my job is to build PCs, support the company's PCs, and run the servers. We're running a good amount of servers, and I get to learn how to run them all. What a playground. Plus, I have a bitchin' machine at work with tons of hard drive space on which I get to make virtual machines and test out the latest OSes. So far, Vista's blah, SUSE Linux is good, Debian is powerful, and Ubuntu is rockin.'

Also, building your own machine is awesome. It really is fun when you customize every aspect of your machine, down to which fans you use. I could go into my whole build spec here, but I doubt you people want me to geek out THAT much... :-)

Assembling computers is not hard at all. You just need to know your basics (mounting the mobo to the chassis, seating a CPU on the motherboard, mounting the heatsink, adding RAM, installing video card + other cards, adding optical drives, adding hard drives, plugging everything in to the power supply, checking jumpers, adding fans, cleaning up the case, etc.). The complicated part comes in two places: knowing what to buy, and tweaking the OS. The only real difficult part about the building process is mounting the heatsink on the CPU. If you don't do it right, you'll fry your processor (if it doesn't have a thermal diode).

Thank you sir, and thank you for your responses this afternoon/evening via PM :)

Speaking of progress, let's go into a:

DEFCON Update:

I'm keeping the DEFCON at DEFCON 3 for tonight into tomorrow. The Portal is relatively strong for 12AM EST, indicating an unusual flux in the Portal. Continued checks on the Portal recommended for new Flash and potential spam and threats. Threats seem to be few, indicating simple heightened activity on the Portal.

Well, I was AWOL for a while, obviously. Mostly it was because I became quite busy with my Help Desk job and didn't have time. However, my current job is much more lax and affords me a bit of time. Plus, I'm trying to stay away from WoW, so that adds more time, too. I never really meant to stop B/Ping, it's just I was involved in other things. Whenever I do visit Newgrounds, though, I always stop by the Portal for a few B/P.

I understood none of that...

Hmm...that was a bit high-brow for the computationally uninitiated, wasn't it...

I needed some time away, so I've been off doing other things for much of the day. From what I can see I didn't miss too much in the portal, or here, or in the other forums either. I'll probably be out much of tomorrow as well, as I have a tennis match in the evening, and I'm planning to hit the ball machine for an hour first to get my eye in.

Sounds fun. Enjoy!

One last note for the night:

DEFCON Update:

Yeah...let's bump it down to DEFCON 4, shall we? It's not quite THAT slow for DEFCON 5, as there is still UJ entries, but the churn is definately slow. Expect this to speed up tomorrow morning, where I automatically put the DEFCON back to DEFCON 3 (in case I don't post tomorrow morning).

Now, as I've spent 3 hours watching the third Pirates movie ('twas good), I'm tired and need rest. 'Night all!

No one say "DEFCON" anymore. It doesn't mean a goddamn thing. It's like that fucking color coded terrorism alert.

I've been busy this weekend. Sorry about not posting any comics or anything lately. When I get done with this post, I'll start the Pat Robertson comic.

I have a party to attend tonight. Hopefully, I can get laid. That's tonight's goal... shit.... that's every night's goal, I just fail to reach it.

Hopefully, I can make up for all those points of I've lost these past few days. Thanks, Lock Legion. And at least most of their stuff is good. Usually, I hate Speakonia, but if you do it right...

I don't think I'll make my goal of staff sergeant by rank update. Oh well...

Today its LockDay, a day to get a nice chunk of B/P... I don't think there's much need to say this, but I'm going to say it anyways...

Vote on everything, but please, vote fair. You can get a nice chunk of B/P today without voting to protect everything. We have to know that certain idiots will use this day to try to pass some of the crappy movies/games.

So again, vote, but don't forget to vote the right way.... That is all.

And here's an Orton pose for no reason... Hey! \__O___/

My name is pepeatumi... But you already knew that!

Excuse me? Care to think about that? I don't need people coming in insulting the way things are run around here. The DEFCON existed before you did in the EGB, and like it or not, it's part of the EGB.

Sucked the words right out of my mouth :-) Honestly, I'm finding a pretty good mix of good and bad flash today, not just from the LL, too. It should pose for an interesting day. Nice to have a good, fast day to get myself back in action.

LOL! Now you're taking me back. I haven't been watching wrestling at all lately. In fact, the only show I watched over the past, say, 8 months is Wrestlemania. 'Taker probably lost the title already, but I haven't been keeping up to know.

Incidentally, in light of Lock Day, here's a:

DEFCON Update:

Churn is still slow, but the amount of UJ entries are high. I'm increasing to DEFCON 2 for the day until Lock Day cools down. Threats of mass-voting and maliciousness are high on days like this, so keep an eye out. Also, a slow churn and high UJ entry list indicates a high ratio of submitters to voters, so your votes are needed today.

Taker did lose the title... But only because he suffered an injury, a legitimate one (he tore his bicep) and will miss between 8-10 months.... Other than that, wrestling is just like you remember it... John Cena always wins.

Ugh. It's been what now, two years? The reason I STOPPED watching wrestling is cause of Cena's superman, LOL, WTF maneuvers that always make him win. I'm tired of it. Are they still booing him to hell at least?

Yeah, well the churn just went big time. Flash are coming on every minute. Time for fun!
