Well after today I got around 70 points. I am getting major homework assignments already so I wouldn't be suprised if I extremely slow down. I'm just waiting for the weekend to come by.

I'm still here, just checking in once in a while. After reading over the past couple of pages, I have a few comments to add. First, I was impressed by some of the Steve Irwin tributes, though most were not especially good. I was not bothered by the ones that were at least respectful. Interestingly, I learned of Irwin's death through the first of the tributes. I had decided to check in on NG and try to get a few last b/p points before turning in for the night. I saw a flash under judgment called RIP Steve. I checked that one first...and thought it was a sick joke at first. I switched over to a news site and ended up being awake most of the night in shock. Yeah, I kind of liked Steve Iwin and the sudden unexpected death reminded me of how I felt when I was much younger and awoke one morning to learn that my idol, John Lennon had been killed. In the days since Irwin's death, I have seen much to the credit of NG with some really heartfelt tributes, some better done than others. I have also seen an unbelievable amount of hate, ridicule and completely inexcusable attitudes towards those who are upset. I shudder to think that there are those who honestly have no respect for anyone's life or respect the right of others to grieve. I hope it's just the idiocy of youth trying to get a rise out of others by saying the most outlandish things that come to mind. I realize that much of all that is only the idiocy that is there day in and day out on the general forum and does not represent any reason for a glaring condemnation of today's youth. Hopefully, that sentiment is not merely my ongoing attempt to be optimistic.

A page or two back, a comment was made by someone, sorry I don't remember by whom...I am terrible with names...anyway, the comment concerned a desire to impress parents who may stumble upon their kids on NG by showing a more respectful side of NG. This made me laugh because it was ME the parent who introduced my teenage son to NG. Yep, I found it first and told him about it because I thought he'd like it. Is that irresponsible? That depends. I have raised my son to be respectful and responsible. There is a lot of stuff on NG that is a load of fun for anyone of any age...one can always be young at heart. I trust him to be responsible online. Does he watch the NC-17 videos and check out the hentai pics when I 'm not around? You know what, I am not naive. He probably does, in fact he already admitted it when I asked him outright, "Would you watch that if I weren't here?" His face went red and he hesitated answering. I took it to mean 'yes, but I won't lie about it to you.' Then he admitted the truth. Sooner or later, he'll encounter all that stuff anyway with or without NG just as earlier generations found ways to get access to that kind of stuff. He knows I know and has never given me a reason to not trust him. A good parent does not need to necessarily shield completely, but should be there to guide and explain when warranted. It all depends on the child in question and to a great extent probably the parent as well. Then again, I am not a religious nut.
Finally, what goals do I have on NG? The most immediate one is to get out of the silver badges. I've got one more to go and then it's on to the gold ones. Now if I could only get my b/p butt in motion and do some serious b/p'ing, it could become a reality that much sooner.

i know what you mean. i left my PC for about 3 hours and when i returned there were about 6 new flashes to be judged. and some that i voted on in the morning are still there. this has to be the slowest day in a long time. its so slow it shouldnt need a deafcom ranking.

Yeah. Some people are just hopping on the bandwagon, not because they care about Steve, but because they just want to have a flash to their name.

For myself, I'm starting to get tired of rating UJ flash submissions. I now tend to stick with watching already passed flash (weekly top 20, top 50, etc), as well as spending more time in the other forums (General, etc).

Because of my lack of interest in doing much Blamming/Protecting, I even considerd leaving the EGB (gasp). But for now I'll see how things turn out. Chances are it's just a phase and that I'll start avidly BP'ing more (When more quality submissions start coming in, or some special event).

I guess it would vary. The amount goes up on weekends (no school), and "x" days (clock day etc), and probably is lower during the week (as most users are in school, thankfully).

You could always start tracking the number that are submitted every day (it says on the side. Example there were 153 yesterday) and see if there's a set pattern or reasonable average.

With school the portal has slowed, since most free blam points are by bored teen agers, who are now not bored since they have too much homework to feel bored. Myself included... Oh how I miss those overly hot summer days infront of the LCD moniter.
