Oh, yeah, you mentioned that saying "I didn't like it" in a review is abusive. Honestly, I'd think that saying "I didn't like it" doesn't necessarily construe an abusive review. I mean, if the reviewer is being honest and says that he didn't like it, then I think that's okay. However, I'd consider it necessary to at least provide ways to improve the flash or give the artist a "keep trying" at the bare minimum. In other words, if "I didn't like it" is said and there's nothing helpful added, then I agree with you. Care to elaborate?

i definitely agree as well. the point of reviewing is so that you can provide the author with your thoughts not just on the flash itself, but also how they can make it better. saying "i didnt like it" may be an honest opinion, but i believe it qualifies as abusive because it doesnt give any help or useful comments. i always flag things like that when i care to check.

but the entire situation is stupid. it doesnt matter how badly you want to be at the top of something, if you cheat here on NG, youll get caught. i cant imagie kwas actually believing that he would pull off the pass and get away with it. had it actually happened, im sure people wouldve scrutinized his reviews more thoroughly and caught on anyway. but good catch washu. thats why you own that gold whistle.

Take your time and write a sincere review for every movie you wish to critique. Make sure your review is relative to the submission. and when you say that the review is not helping the author to improve his work oh if you tell the author to keep trying also add something more to tell him how to improve his/her work because if you post " keep trying" alone while your intentions are not to be abusive the review itself is because that is look at like this you " keep trying at what?

I see what you mean. I meant a "keep it up" review like the following I just made up:

"I didn't really like the flash, as it wasn't good enough in my opinion. However, I think you have potential, and with enough practice, I'm sure you will make great flash. Just keep working on flash and keep practicing! Good luck."

Or something like that. I mean, that's the bare minimum I'd consider to say "I don't like it" and not be abusive. I think the helpfulness here is that the reviewer is saying that the artist has potential but just needs to practice flash more. In other words, there's no real specifics about the flash that could be commented on, but practice overall would help. Get what I mean?

yea id say that just makes the cut. you managed to at least keep the author's spirits up, even though you did not find the flash particularly good. i try to be a little more specific with at least one thing i can find to improve and then tell them to keep at it, that way theres no chance it could be construed as abusive.

And at the abusive review issue, I would say saying something like "I dont like it" would be somewhat abusive. Well I dont know really "abusive" but people who only review like that should be review banned in my opinion.

You arent helping or doing anything by telling them you dont like it, they will be able to know from the score on how much people like it or not, you might as well leave some lines of advice to what you didnt like about it or how they could improve.

And by reviewing like that it is mostly just to get a higher review count, I mean the only thing being helped is the review count =P.

I guess it would go under the NO in "Was this review helpful?"

and i wanted to ask washu another question along the same lines as this abusive issue. what do you think of reviews that are just one-liners saying something like "omg i loved that fivened!" i think that those should be considered abusive also, as they dont add anything to help the author out other than maybe someone liked their work. i think the reviews should be helpful above all things.

I think the sad part about "Big Bag" is that is a really good song. My friend and I used to be really big into Fruityloops (now FL Studio), which is an audio mixing program (similar to GarageBand on Mac, but better). "Big Bag" was a song submitted by an artist on the Fruityloops forums. I remember hearing it about 2 years ago, but now it's famous for a jerking-off flash. Ugh.

I just went to my near-by Kroger store to get my usual energy drink run, and now they have ANOTHER new energy drink can. It's a nice bright blue can called....NOS. It actually tastes like a modified Full Throttle drink, just not as harsh. I don't know what you guys think of it, tell me what you think of it if you ever drink NOS. Oh yea, they could have at least given the drink a cool blue color, but it's also like the greenish color in Full Throttle.

yeah man I saw it.. I haven't tried it but I was very surprised to see SoBe NoFear, one of my top 5 favorite energy drinks, has changed the color of their can from red/ black, to gold/black.... I'm assuming the reason for this is to attract more customers to a shinier can.. lol... either that or attract kids to it by making them think it looks like alcohol, but yeah.....
