HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022!
Looks like I get to kick off 2022 with the roster update as the first post of the year - pretty cool.
Before I present the roster, I just want to wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. As our holiday season winds down, and we start anew with a fresh year ahead of us, my hope is that we all have a better year in 2022.
2021 ended in a downturn for many of us; we're all worn out from Covid and politics and general insanity, and need some relief. After some soul searching, I realized that I need to take a step back ,stop worrying and complaining, and just do what I can to make things better. In that light, I have paused my use of all social media, call my family and friends instead of texting them (which prevents a lot of hurt feelings when the words in a message are taken the wrong way), and keep my judgments to myself. I will focus on the positive things in life, and bring that positivity to all I meet.
And when things go wrong (and they will) I will not try to be too stressed out, but instead, seek help in family and friends. And when they need someone to lean on, I will be there for them as well.
If I want others to be positive and caring, I need to be that way as well. True, there's no guarantee that other folks will be kind or rational or caring in all circumstances, and in that case, I will try to be the voice of reason and compassion, instead of adding fuel to the fire. Once you put your ego aside and don't take everything personally (which I have issues with) things go a lot smoother.
With that, I want to say thank you for all of the fine folks in the Barracks, and for all the non-members who contribute daily. I believe that all of you here who keep Newgrounds safe and secure - and doing so on a completely voluntary basis - are also good people IRL. I am honored and humbled to be part of this crew, surrounded by folks who really do care.
So, may 2022 be the best year yet for all of us!
