_Barracks Roster as of August 1st, 2020:_
Hard to believe we're in August already. I started losing track of the months at the end of March, hoping against hope that some things would have improved by now - but they didn't. And it all boils down to one thing: piss poor leadership.
Many of you are from outside the U.S. (lucky buggers!) and I can pretty much guarantee that your country's leaders have been listening to REAL science, doing the best they can to contain this virus while keeping your economy afloat. They've been uniting the citizens, working together to fight this bug and work on getting back to normal as soon as possible.
Not here. (Warning: political rant about to begin. If it offends you, refer to the 1st Amendment). I was never impressed with our current leader's resume; he never should have been on the election role as he was never - and still is not - anything that resembles president material.
I don't expect a president to be perfect, or to only have policies that agree with my opinions. But what I do expect, as all US citizens should, is someone who is trustworthy, supports our constitution, and puts the people's needs first. Yes, there would be compromises, but as a good leader, they would bear the mantle of being a diplomatic unifier; they would sow peace instead of inciting division; they would be firm but fair - and, as a final measure of their humanity, they'd have a dog.
Why a dog? When I see a dog running happily to its owner/master/fur-parent, I know that they are being with treated with love and kindness. A happy dog is a strong indicator that their master is a good person. Think about it: How many cranky people have happy dogs? (actually, most cranky folks have cats, as they require less attention). When you look back in our history, the better presidents have had dogs at the White House.
Our current president is petty, childish, narcissistic, ignorant and a sociopathic liar, He has no redeeming qualities that render him capable of leading a sing-a-long, much less a country, He has failed us in so many ways, and needs to go. Those folks who voted for him in 2016 and now realize they got screwed bad, they'll vote Democrat just to stop the bleeding insanity. As for those who still think he is a good leader and worthy of your vote, I can only say this: WAKE UP! Would you want this guy working in your company, or taking care of your business, or protecting your investments? I would have fired his orange ass a long time ago.
His failure as a leader has brought us increased racial tensions, a divided country living in fear, hiding behind hyperbole and armchair opinions as he ostracizes science. 150,000 Americans dead, and that number is climbing. Yeah, eventually Covid-19 will stop - but only after countless others have died due to bad advice and poor leadership.
Biden may not be perfect, but he's pointed in the right direction. We can't take another 4 months of this, never mind another 4 years. So, to all of you non-US citizens, I apologize for our Cheeto-in-Chief's behavior, and hopefully, in a few months, we can kick him and his family out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave once and for all.
Until then, we keep counting our dead and fight among ourselves - because that's what he wants.

Fortunately, life here in the Barracks is much more nicer. Our band of brothers and sisters continue to fight the good fight, shoulder to shoulder, leading by example. The rewards of this good work can be seen by the promotion of @Jackho to Lt. General and @ZomALien to Brigadier General. Well done, soldiers! You deserve it! *SALUTES*
Of course, there's EGSC @Guthrie, EGSC @Peregrinus and EGSC @Exedor who continue to rock the forums, answering questions, helping out folks who bring questionable submissions to their attention, and making sure that the trash is taken out quickly. Thank you all for your dedication and service *SALUTES*
We do have a fine group of people here in the Barracks, and I can honestly say that I believe you are all good folks IRL as well. I am honored to be among you all, and I am proud to serve along side all of you. Thank you for being the "good guys" in this crazy world! *SALUTES*
