_Barracks Roster as of March 1st, 2020:_
So, who's ready for spring? I'm tired of the cold and dreary grey days here in New England - but I see signs that things are improving. The sun is rising a little earlier; we've had a few warmer days; it's been more rain than snow - and there are more assholes out on the road over the weekends. Next week it marks the start of Daylight Savings time here in the States , when we decide to screw with the rest of the world and shift our time back to "normal" . The original plan, cooked up in 1918, was part of an idea that if we shifted the clocks, people would be up during the daytime more and reduce the need for energy to power lights and heat. It had been adopted, revoked, amended and has a mixed use over the world. The reason: the closer you are to the north/south poles, the less impact this time shift has on your day.
But folks, it's 2020 now - we live in an age where we have high efficiency lighting, automatic timers on our thermostats, and various other gadgets that let us defy the darkness. If we left the time consistent and did away with this illusion, our bodies would naturally follow their own rhythms; yes, in the winter it would be dark when we wake up and get the kiddies off to school. But that's part of the system: school hours are based around a "normal" work day. They start earlier so folks can make sure the kidlets are off to school before they go to work, and get home before its dark. IMHO, DST is no longer necessary - we can live without it.

First, let's congratulate Major @ZomAlien for his recent promotion. He's been very active in the portal and the forums, blamming the violators and telling folks to v0te 0ut the garbage; certainly, a promotion well deserved!

Then there's EGSC @Guthrie - The Barrack 's own super hero. Apparently, he does not sleep, racking up almost double the points of yours truly, and stays active in the forum every day. He leads by example, and I, for one, am very glad to know him, and know he is on our side.
