DEFCON Update:

In light of today being a high-traffic day and the slow but consistent Barney Bunch flash, I have decided to keep the DEFCON Level at DEFCON 3. There have been no extreme peaks of activity, which I do not expect until later on. So far, the Portal has been well-protected against these flash, which is a good mark of the Elite Guard's efforts here. After all, the Elite Guard is the primary protectors of the Portal, and our efforts will never be stopped! Hooah!

Understood, PFC. You are of course excused. What is important is that you are here now and are doing your duty. It requires a great deal to make it into the Elite Guard, so you have already proven your loyalty to the portal. Mere trivialites can be excused, easily, PFC.

Excellent question, PFC. First off, I am sure you are aware of the DEFCON system that I have implemented here in the Barracks. Naturally, DEFCON 1 is reserved for the ultimate of situations, which Clock Day certainly qualifies for. Naturally, upon notification of Clock Day, the DEFCON Level will be moved to DEFCON 1 and it will remain as such until Clock Day is over. As many Elite Guards as possible MUST be present at the Portal for as long as possible to protect it!

Also, please note that even though some flash are Clocks, they are still submissions and still have the right to be judged. Do not shoot or save someone on Clock Day just because they are a Clock. Evaluate them as you would any other Portal entrant. In this way, the Elite Guard can help stop the vote-skewing and be sure the Portal's voting system stays just.

Like I said, DO NOT SHOOT ON SIGHT! Stay your target, evaluate them, see if they are Portal-worthy. Everyone gets a chance here, even on Clock Day. Help keep the voting-system's integrity intact!

Thank you for your input, Private. The DEFCON Level will probably not see DEFCON 5 for a long time. Too many flashes with malicious intent are coming through the Portal to warrant such a lowering of the DEFCON Level. You are rather active here for a Private, which is an excellent sign, soldier. You are indeed an excellent new addition to the Elite Guard. Perhaps in the near future a more permanent affiliation with the Barracks will be in order. Keep up the excellent work, Private!

Unfortunately, since the Portal traffic is still high and Barney Bunch submissions are still coming slowly and deliberately, I am forced to delay the lowerfing of the DEFCON Level again. It will remain at DEFCON 3 until past midnight, after which I will update again. Please also be on the lookout for poor-quality Clock Crew submissions which are not Portal-quality.

Sir, I had a 4000-words history final paper to write earlier in the day. (Yea, Duke professors are insane.) However, I appreciate that I still managed to finish the paper early enough (around 1 a.m) to have some time for my DAILY NG before sleeping. By the way, after today's depositing, I am the old myself again. (I am known as the owner of the boxing glove.) However, I can only keep it for another 2 and an half hours. Nevertheless, it is a great feeling to pick up some points after a long day of working.

Damn... been out of the portal for 15 hours... 8 of which I was asleep and 7 at school... Oh well from now till night I'll be on.

Didn't you get 500 B/P in 5 days from EGP to EGPFC, sir? If so, then you'll most likely reach Corporal by the end of the week. Damn, you've got an extreme B/P pace and I'm not able to get such pace due to school and not the only one using the computer.

Well, I'm okay with my B/P pace at the moment, sir, but there are people below me that could overtake me on B/P, which I don't like. However, if I did get a high B/P pace, I would be getting EGSC before level 14 and I don't want that. I want to get EGSC at level 14, so I would either be at 10.00 VP or not so far off to 10.00VP.

DEFCON Update:

The steady onslaught from groups such as the Barney Bunch has finally died down a bit. I am lowering the DEFCON Level from DEFCON 3 to DEFCON 4 until peak hours. Peak hours will definately warrant a higher level, simply due to the volume of traffic coming through.

That is true, Brigadier General, SIR. The 100 B/P a day pace is extreme, but it is pheasable if you can access the Portal all the time. I am rather busy all day, but I often can find a few seconds to check up on the Portal, where I can find those attempting to pass through. The only hard thing about such a pace is if you miss a day! On Saturday, I only was able to gain 10 points, which set me back a lot! Luckily I was able to recoup by gaining about 175 points yesterday.

Incidentally, sir, I noticed you are rather devoted to our Barracks. Surely a Brigadier General like yourself wishes he could serve the Barracks better. Are you interested in taking up an officer position here, or are you more concerned with other duties that you have? I am not sure what you would want to take up here, so let me know, sir.

I once did 16 hours... naturally a weekend... just a Saturday with no plans... But for the next couple Saturdays I have plans so I'll have a decent rank and a life.

Yes, I got 500 B/P's in 5 days. And I'm already well on track to my goal. With school out and all of my civilian friends being recluses like myself who I only see once a week, I can dedicate massive amounts of time to the portal.
I'm just making the most of the ranks with only 500 points between them...after corporal, things get a bit harder...

Lately, due to my increased portal activities, I am spiraling upwards through the ranks. I am currently exactly 173 B/P from Sergeant, and I have been informed that I am nearing the top one thousand Portal defenders! Last I checked, I was only five away from the triple digits!

Well, I have raised 45 more points.
If I keep this up everyday, I'd go on the next stage.

Good news, sirs. I just noticed a recent Barney Bunch flash purge in the obits, including all the work of the author of the most recent of them. Justice prevails once again!
My day on the portal has gone very well so far...I didn't write down what I started with today to know exactly how much I've increased, but I have gone up significantly! I don't think it will take me the rest of the week to rank up...I may rank up within the next three days if I maintain this pace!
I will now return to the portal to continue my patrols. Good hunting, sirs and subordinates!

DEFCON Update:

There is increased activity on the Portal due to the evening rush of entrants. I am raising the DEFCON Level from DEFCON 4 to DEFCON 3 due to the increased probability of malicious entrants.

I'd like to say up front, fellow soldiers, I am very pleased with the developments as of late here in the Barracks. Many Elite Guards have been promoted and even more are charged with the protection of the Portal! I'd like to respond to a few of you:

Well, Corporal, once an Elite Guard, always an Elite Guard. However, if you wish to prove yourself further in the Guard, I suggest you move out to the Portal and do your duty! Surely a revitalization of your Portal protection will occur! Good luck with that, Corporal!
