Well speaking of reviews, I only review if I feel the need to do so or if there is something that the author might have overlooked or if something has not already been said. If something has already been said and I cannot delve further into that certain something, then I feel no need to review.
This is basically my take on it too. Unless there's something in particular to say about the flash, like if one area was significantly worse than the others, or if I have an idea for what could make it better overall, I probably won't review it.
An interesting standpoint, but if the submission does not need improving, then it is perfect. Personally, I feel that perfection is a state of being that is impossible for anything, due to the overtly chaotic nature of the universe.
Ergo, there is always something to say ;)
I have to disagree with this. Yes, there's always something stopping a flash from being 'perfect' (bear in mind that the definition of 'perfect' is entirely dependant on who's doing the judging of it), but there's a difference between something that's flawless and something that needs improvement. So what if Brackenwood doesn't have a plot? So what if There She Is is annoyingly Japanese at times? I still don't see why it's worth criticising them for what they could've been, given what they already are. Good enough is just that. Especially given that there is no such thing as a completely perfect flash (ergo, there's a point beyond which picking at problems will no longer be constructive, more just petty pedanticism).
Does it really matter if they flag a review as useless? It does nothing for the whole review at all. If they mark it as abusive, then I'm sure that it would be them who have the knock on effect of having a downgrade in their whistle status.
Haha; I really think there should be some restrictions on using those buttons, or some punishment for abusing the helpful / useless ones. I've been useless bombed before (fuck knows why), and it's just pathetic seeing what people will mark as helpful or useless these days.
I really hope you're not being shallow by thinking that those movies are the only ones that ever get submitted by Newgrounders.
They're not the only thing in the portal by any stretch of imagination, but their sheer lack of originality makes them stand out more than they should. I remember reviewing one such generic sprite movie a while ago, and after I took a look at it, I realised that it could've been written for pretty much every damn one of them ever submitted. I haven't had the inclination to review another one since.
