Speaking of crazy, I FINALLY got Chapter 28 done! Handy handy linky here: Barracks Under Fire - Chapter 28

A very good chapter, but damn it Eagle, why must there always be a cliffhanger. You better hurry and post 29, haha.

I agree, I think that these spammers are taking things WAY TOO FAR. You'd think that they'd take the admins' generosity to not ban them more nobly. As for the legality of hacking, I don't think there's a specific law to ban it, but the accused hackers may breach their ISP's terms of service contract. If thats the case, then I believe all Wade would have to do is report their activities to their ISP, in which case the ISP could refuse to continue their services to the offenders.

It'll be quite interesting to see how this all turns out, and best of luck to those who may have lost their accounts to malicious users.

I used to play Dungeons and Dragons. Me and 3 other guys went in on the starter set, the DM Guide, and the Player's guide and the Monster Manuel. We met a few times and had some fun dicking around. I was the first Dungeon Master. But when I was done and gave the books to my friend to plan out his game, the fucktard lost the books. That was a solid $25 a person down the shitter. Luckily, I still got the character sheets and map.

Oh shit! I just checked out the starter box, and the books magically appeared! My level 2 Sorcerer must have brought them back! Hell, I still have the character sheets from us 4

Good news, everyone! I finally fixed the sound on my laptop, meaning I'm going to be as active as I used to be. I know I haven't posted here that much, but it's good to be back and actually able to listen to and report Flash with the improved sound. See you on the front lines later today!

Gave me " Abnormal C++ Runtime Library" errors, and shut down my Internet Explorer.

Hmm...might not be intentional. Works fine on a Mac in Firefox. If you have another browser besides IE there, it might warrant a look-again.

Madness day is a good NG holiday, but why don't they make a different banner every year? They use to do it with every holiday, now they recycle them.

Plus I haven't seen any outstanding Madness flashes yet, but the day is still young I suppose, and considering I'm British, I won't see the ones leading up to midnight.

Well, Poozy told me to spread the word and this is the convo I had with him about 20 minutes ago.

DragonMaster368: What exaclty was it that the NGPD did wrong for this little hiaruts of the thread?
EYESKYKING: What do you think it did?
DragonMaster368: Well aside from the small bits of off-topic chatter that was a minimum of like 5 posts, nothing.
DragonMaster368: :\
EYESKYKING: Is that sarcasm or petulance I'm detecting?
DragonMaster368: no, I'm merely telling you what I think the NGPPD did wrong.
EYESKYKING: How many times have you seen multiple mods warn a thread and it's posters over and over without locking or deleting the thread?
DragonMaster368: hmm, alright, point taken. twice for them.
EYESKYKING: I don't need the drama associated with helping people on the internet keeping their plus one/stat whore thread open.
DragonMaster368: true
EYESKYKING: rules are simple
DragonMaster368: that they are.
EYESKYKING: spread the word
EYESKYKING: poozy is done helping
EYESKYKING: I will unlock the thread when I'm good and ready.

DragonMaster368: alright. I'll soread the word.
DragonMaster368: *spread
EYESKYKING: Next time my reaction will be permanent.
DragonMaster368: wow. I'm guessing you've had some bad days at work recently?
EYESKYKING: I'm cool man.
EYESKYKING: You guys don't realize what goes on behind the scenes.
DragonMaster368: it might help to know though. :\
EYESKYKING: How about using common sense and trying to see shit from another persons POV?
DragonMaster368: fine, that works
EYESKYKING: I am considering all of your and your fellow users that post in that thread by not deleting it.
EYESKYKING: Or permanently locking it.
DragonMaster368: could you re-word that a bit, I'm not quite sure I got the gist of it.
EYESKYKING: I meant that I'm considering the feelings and thought, opinions of the users active in that thread.
DragonMaster368: ah. alright.

The NGPD is dead! It's not here anymore!
But!
On my back, and in my heart, it lives on as a part of me!
If you're gonna protect, protect until the Portal reaches parity!
Even if my Whistle becomes Garbage, I keep flagging! And once the bad Flash is gone, it's my victory!
Who the hell do you think we are?!
We are the EGB!
Not the NGPD our friends.
We are us!
The Elite Guard Barracks!!!

Anyone who can tell me where that's from gets my alt bigblam. Interestingly enough, the original owner left and gave me that account because of Poozy, so in a way it's fitting that Poozy's actions inspire the account's changing hands twice.

I'm not going to question Poozy's decision though. The NGPD had some problems staying on-topic: some of the users might not have felt themselves to be devoted enough to NG to feel that they could keep a club like that alive on NG discussion alone, maybe. They had their warnings, but after a while it seemed they forgot about each warning. Maybe they needed a sign that the mods were serious, and Poozy volunteered to weed out what he saw as less-than-dedicated warriors. For my part I believe that they had the dedication, but looking at it as a former *chan admin and moderator on another forum, it did look kind of spammy.

I was seeing Madness Day flash from as early as last night EST around 10PM...today's been fun so far. There are also quite a few high-quality madness remakes, which I'm pleased to see, as opposed to the usual Clock Day mentality of "fiven en-masse"

By the way, did anyone catch at Midnight that they put the wrong year graphic up? For about 20 minutes it said "Madness Day 2008," which gave Tails and me a good chuckle.

I'm sure Tails will straighten it all out with Poozy. I'm also sure Tails is capable of ensuring this won't happen again, as he'd had to be tough when it counted. I'm not too worried about the future of the NGPD.

I wouldn't worry about Tails at all. He's the only reason the club itself hasn't been deleted. It is quite odd though as you think a club that is made for the purpose of "protecting" newgrounds from spam and other things wouldn't have so many members that spam with their posts most the time...

Oh, I'm intimately familar with what Tails is capable of. He and I have had to deal with crap before, and Tails is the most capable leader of the NGPD I've seen since Peregrinus. And for those of you know that know Peregrinus, that's saying a lot. If there's one person that can keep the NGPD in check, it's Tails.

And unfortunately, due to the nature of the NGPD having relatively low B/P requirements, you can get a lot of newcomers to Newgrounds join, who are still green when it comes to posting etiquette and whatnot, so the NGPD gets the perception that it's fully of spammy BBS users, when the truth is the opposite. In reality, I've also seen quite a few people turn around and learn rather quickly while in the NGPD. As a matter of fact, there are EGB members I know of that wouldn't have passed standards for membership here if it wasn't for the NGPD helping them improve their posting style and becoming an overall better NG member. It's one of those vital organizations on Newgrounds that helps turn people into quality posters, even if they had a one-liner spammy past. Like I said, though, Tails has it covered, and I'm sure he'll take this experience and make the NGPD better because of it.

Just checking the few last pages I can see most of the users have been here for at least a year and some of them up to 6 years or more. Yes, quite a few good users come from there, but I'd still say just a little bit around half of the users that come out of the club haven't improved a bit.

The only reason some of the members have graduated from the NGPD and made it into the EGB is because they had enough friends in the club already to vote them in and/or brag them up. ;) Things will turn out for the best though no matter what happens there.

Also, birthday in 2 days. :D

Define "haven't improved." Almost every member in the NGPD is active in the WI/HT? forum, consistently posts more abusive flashes than this thread, and works much harder because they are newer to the portal protection thing and are much more eager to prove themselves than anyone here. They offer all of this, with the downside of getting slightly carried away with one liners and meme jokes on occasion. Most of the people in that thread are much younger than the members in here. It happens, but they are well on their way to becoming great users. And the sign up date argument is void. Sign up dates mean NOTHING. For example: Every day I've come to newgrounds.com since I joined, I've deposited. All 179 days.

The only reason some of the members have graduated from the NGPD and made it into the EGB is because they had enough friends in the club already to vote them in and/or brag them up.

That's just straight asinine. It's because they've established that they can be relied upon to post up stolen/malicious/whatever flashes and without a doubt be right about it. What else does the EGB care about? Whether or not they can keep up with all of our reflections on the old days and recipes, or the stories going on in the private forums? Whether it's for 1 line or 20, an off-topic post is off-topic. You are in no position to condescend the NGPD by being in the EGB. You're being awfully judgemental of a lot of people who bust their asses for this site, and quite frankly it's bullshit.

Look at Sheizenhammer. That guy is someone even the highest ranking members of the EGB can respect. He's written a countless number of OUTSTANDING guides for flagging abusive reviews, determining how a flash is stolen, etc, he's constantly in WI/HT helping new users, and he still has time to post flashes he finds that are stolen and malicious. He keeps up a pace mixed with quality like no user I've ever seen in the EGB emulate. You calling them out as nothing more than a group of spammers with the so called "purpose" of protecting newgrounds is a MASSIVE understatement to the pot calling the kettle black phrase.

Also, birthday in 2 days. :D

happy birthday. :)

The only reason some of the members have graduated from the NGPD and made it into the EGB is because they had enough friends in the club already to vote them in and/or brag them up.
That's just straight asinine.

Now this is you being ignorant of the facts. If you would have seen as many voting threads as I have then you would have known that some of the members just barely make it in and it's because most of their friends are there voting as highly as possible. And again, your ignoring the word that I used. I said some. That could mean 1 or 2 out of all of the members.

You were talking about the good ones and I was talking about the not so good ones. Doesn't mean that we were disagreeing even though you took it that way...

Hey, guys - Chapter 4 is up on the BBS now. I know Lizz, EagleRock and a few other fans have been waiting impatiently, so I moved it along as fast as I could. It's a little longer than chapter 3, but things are starting to build up, and plans are in motion...

And, before I forget -EagleRock, I loved chapter 28 - another cliffhanger, but it feels like we're getting close to the final confrontations. Nothing like a 6-way tag-team match to get the blood pumping - all over the ground! hehehe - Anyways, keep up the great work - we're all hooked!

Fair enough. I think that both of you have your points, but I do have to point out that michelinman makes a good point that a good portion of NGPD members do improve their post history, B/P practices, etc. because of the influence of the club's ideals. Not to say that all people shape up, but I think that the NGPD sure has a role in helping some of these members improve their "lifestyle" on NG. Either way, I don't want this to turn into a flame war, so I'd like future discussions inside our own forums. However, I'd say this has sufficiently died out, anyway.

You were talking about the good ones and I was talking about the not so good ones. Doesn't mean that we were disagreeing even though you took it that way...

You see where I was coming from though right? Not trying to start a big shitfest, just pointing out that the NGPD does a lot for the NG community.

Hopefully nothing ever pops up that is that big of an argument that it needs to be carried over into the forums. And Chapter 29 is out? I'm only on ten I believe. I need to get crackin on these things. Haha.
