That must have been quite an experience. Was the girl hot? If she was then it would have been that much more perfect for a horror movie. How long did the blackout last?

Elite Guard Commander Idiot-Buster reporting in.

Now after my week trip to New York City I said i would post a day to day map of what i did and where i went. If you want to read it, good for you and if not.... don't be a asshole and read it anyways. I'm going to make this brief as possible for your reading pleasure.

Day one: As i arrive the JFK airport is much larger than the one in my home town. Me and my mother have to take a hour long taxi ride to our hotel in Times Square :::the marriott marquis::: a nice 4 and 1/half star hotel. We lay around for a few minutes and then decided to walk around Times Square and the streets near it. I got a beef on a stick thing from a street vender, not bad for street fair. we walked around some more and then got a slice of pizza from a placr that i forget the name of. We went back for the concierge service and ate there. I can't remember what else happened.

Day 2-4: In Times square there is several chocolate stores and i went to the m&m one. I got a picture frame and looked around on the 3 floors....yes 3 floors! We made our way to the Guggenheim Museum of art to look around for a few hours and it took about 3 or so. We ate a small lunch and from there we went to our hotel to rest. At the Guggenheim i was a bit disappointed of the fact that all the hot girls were from Italy and france... not a bad thing no, but they did not speak a bit of english. So all i could say to the Italian girls was hello and you look hot, not to helpfull to say the least. After this point it becomes a bit of a mix up so thats why its days 2-4.

On one day we ate at a very nice italian restaurant where i had rack of lamb and some other things while my mother had some sort of pasta. Then on the next day i had a peter lugers steak a 2 pound one. It does live up to what everyone says...it's the best steak i've ever had. Though everything else was just okey, the sides wer'nt that good. then on the next day i went to another itlaian restaraunt were i had roast duck and tiramisu. Not a bad eating trip to say the least, it was very expensive though over 30$ each dish.

I went to the museum of natural history one day. It had 4 floors and we spent 2 1/2 hours in it, we could have stayed longer but they close early so we had to leave. The only bad thing about the place was the fact that there were so meny daycares there and each of them had 10-15 children that were from the ages of 6-10 running around. Now that pissed me off, they tripped over me several times there.

Funny parts that happened. Down in Times Square there was a chubby Asian about the age of 40 just walking around with a very small t-shirt that showed his large belly. Not the best part, he was picking at it and smelling his fingers after doing so, he just stood there and kept doing it for some time afer i got tired and left. Then they were selling Obama and Mccain condoms...there had to be 5 of these guys out there on the sreet corners selling them. A few other thing happeded that i will not post because you might get offened and i may be banned for saying so.

Finally i will tell you what i bought. I got a picture frame from the M&M store then i got jeans from levis not normal ones they are a light carmal color and are tattared. Then i got a pair of armani sunglasses. 2 skinny ties and a cool hat form H&M and then 2 cashmere sweaters one dark blue :::old man style, very modern::: and a tan knit one From Zara the only store outside of Europe.

Months?

I've been promising a come back since early March this year, but I kept delaying it again and again... Now I'm finally here! I wanted to catch-up in all the threads in the Where is/How to before coming back, but... that's still going to take a while, so I thought it would be better if I became active here again before that. :)

Oh thanks i got to catch up there too, i have not made a post there in weeks.... im a lazy shit somedays. Glad to see that you have better things to do then hang around here all day eveyday like you used too, i'm getting away from that as well. I still make a post everyday...just not my normal 15+, but a smaller 1-3.

I think my last post here was about 100 pages ago... From what I've already seen, there are many new faces, some I've known previously and some not. But it's good to know that we are still running strong!

There are about 4 or 5 new guys around here. I have been in trouble when i don't post here to. I have to get to know new people and then i see that you may not recognize the average poster in here anymore except for a few older users who still show there faces. I'm still here if it makes you feel any bettter, probably not since you've never cared for how i used to post :::short and meny one liners::: now if you have anything to say to me say it. It still feels that you have hateridge aimed towards me.

Also, now I'm a Brigadier General! I think that I was still a Major when I last posted in here. That's a good 4,000 B/P of difference!

Wow thats good to hear that you still keep your pace up, as for me it's sitting at about 5 a day and 35 or so a week not to impressive from my 60+ days.

It's good to see this place running smoothly and now that i'm back i will get into conversation and such. Good job with all of the flaggings that i've seen on the last 2 pages.

Yea she is very hot. Pity she works during the day so I almost never see her. The blackout lasted a few hours, it was actually kind of relaxing. I love the feeling of places that are normally either packed with people or generally noisy when they are void of that natural setting.

It's practically obligatory, as once someone posts one topic, everyone else tries to be funny or original or possesses some kind of other foolish mindset and it just snowballs.

It is a rare thing these days for a user to be original and make his/her own fad. It's just like playing a game of follow the leader on the general once someone posts something funny there will be at least 10 threads with something similar. This has been a problem for as long as i can rememeber. Since this is about religion some people could take this seriously and then we my have a problem on our hands.

That is quite true. The politics forum isn't anywhere near as highly populated, but the people the are sensible and religion topics are not often resolved but are at least "discussed." A couple wrong words in general could bring tragedy. Not to say there are not sensible people who post in the general forum, but there are some interesting characters there.

many actually..

Yes i look in the politics forum every so often and i see that alll the names in there are unfamilar to me. With that said, i took a look at some of the regualr posters and it seems that they just post in that one forum. Theres more mature users over in that section, resulting in the smaller population.

Your right, if one person says something wrong the whole topic and possibly spand into others as well. The average user there is a much lower level and much newer to the forum, like most of us we started there and then migrated out of that and into others. There are lots of interesting people there, since they are generaly younger they have a strange personality.

It is very cool. I love going there, there are meny things to do and alot of nice places to eat. If you want to eat good your going to have to pay more than the usual. There are some places like TGI fridays and Red lobster, but why would you go and eat there :::when i don't care for them where i live::: There is a street right of of TImes Square thats known as restaraunt ave. It's where i went for 2 of the dinners i had.

At 7/25/09 11:28 AM, Lizzardis wrote: Its not always that expensive, it depends where you go. I suppose its like that everywhere, take me for example, I went down to Miami with my family and we had a meal on Ocean Drive, that's all good and well, the prices were not THAT bad and it was going well.....Until my uncle ordered a beer.

Ya like i said above, there are the nice places that you don't have at home and then there are the okey, nothing special places. Oh yes the prices for some of the drinks were quite funny. I say a glass of wine go for 70$ and a bottle go into the 1,000$ range.

It came in a massive jug/glass which should have been for like Martini's but it was massive! So he drank it, little did we know that that ONE BEER cost us $25.

Hot damn, thats alot. You better have told him that it better have been the best beer he had ever had. They can charge thoes prices because they know they will get the money for it.

Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time in New York I-B. :)

Awww thanks for your concern Lizz.

Alright, since you're not dabbling in the dark side or anything, I'll summarily re-admit you without the whole recruitment deal. Welcome back!

At 7/25/09 02:53 AM, silentisdeath16 wrote: Private Silentisdeath reporting for duty

Welcome! I'm Slash Firestorm, the Recruitment Officer and Commander of the Elite Guard Barracks, and I'll be guiding you through the recruitment process. Here's how it works.

First, I will present you with the shortened code of conduct for the Barracks, along with links to the relevant FAQ's on our forums. You must read them, understand them, and post here again confirming that you accept those principles. A simple "yes, I agree" will be sufficient. This process serves two purposes:

1) Ensuring that you're not a "drive-by applicant" who asks to join and then never comes back, and

2) Ensuring that you know how we operate so there won't be any complications in the future, such as "wait, we're not supposed to be mass voting?".

After you agree to the code of conduct, the Barracks community will discuss your qualifications and decide whether to allow you into the group. Our requirements aren't too strict; beyond the main qualifications of 2500+ B/P and a Bronze Whistle or better, we'll be looking for sufficient post quality (low number of one-liners, intelligent posts that contribute to the topic), helpful reviews, any potentially problematic flashes, stuff like that. After discussion and a vote, I'll make the final call and PM you with the results. Assuming that no objections are raised, the process usually takes a day or two.

Here is our abbreviated Code of Conduct. Read it, learn it, and post again with confirmation of your understanding. If you can't abide by these principles, say so.

*****

1. Voting fairly.

This is the foundation of the Elite Guard Barracks. All members are expected to give every flash a fair vote, regardless of who made it or what their group affiliations are. We do not target any flash group, not favorably or in opposition; our only enemies are those who break the rules of the site, not those who merely bend them.

Everyone has a different definition of quality, and all members are expected to vote based on what they honestly feel a flash deserves, not on whether they think the flash will pass or be blammed. While Barracks members are proud of their high ranks, and are eager to compete with others, a high B/P score means nothing if achieved through petty point-whore voting, and any member who admits to doing so will be removed from the organization.

2. Stopping Portal abuse.

Numerous stolen, malicious, and unsuitable flash are submitted to the Flash Portal every day, and it is our job to ensure that as many of them are removed as possible. Members are expected to report any suspicious flash to the Barracks, including any evidence or doubts that they might have, and only whistle something if they are sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, that it is whistle-worthy.

Just as with B/P, points mean nothing if achieved through inappropriate means. There should be no blind rush to whistle a flash that is merely suspected of wrongdoing; it's better to let an uncertain case go by rather than wrongly whistle an innocent submission. If evidence of wrongdoing is discovered after a flash passes judgment, we can always (and will always) inform Wade of our findings.

In the case of a beyond-reasonable-doubt rulebreaking flash, members are encouraged to share their results with the Newgrounds Police Department and the Newgrounds Department of Defense.

3. Cleaning up the review system.

Members are expected to be familiar with the review guidelines and whistle abusive reviews when they come across them, and report severe cases of abuse to a review mod. Additionally, members are expected to write helpful reviews, offering constructive criticism and remaining civil even when the author refuses to do so. We must set a good example for other Newgrounders, in hopes that they will improve their own reviews as well.

4. Setting an example for others to follow.

Barracks members are expected to post intelligently, contributing to threads rather than merely dropping a one-liner opinion on it. Flaming, spamming, and other ban-worthy behavior is strictly prohibited, and extreme misbehavior will lead to removal from the EGB.

Members are also expected to act civilly towards all Newgrounders. You are expected to be helpful and patient when dealing with newer members, whether simply showing them the FAQ or explaining more complex concepts that they do not understand. Concepts such as fair voting, intelligent posting/reviewing, and keeping an open mind are essential for newer members to learn, and we are just the ones to teach them.

For those with more experience, you are expected to show respect and understand that they may, in fact, know more about Newgrounds than you do, even if you're a seasoned veteran. This applies both to fellow Barracks members and Newgrounders in the general population.

Members are expected to put reasonable effort into any flash or audio submissions, and be careful with who they become Portal Buddies with. We are quite generous with our definition of reasonable effort; examples of unacceptable submissions would be static images, single frames, ridiculously small loops, or purposefully bad music. Anyone submitting rulebreaking content would, obviously, be removed from the Barracks and reported to Wade.

5. Not starting shit.

As mentioned above, the Barracks has no enemies beyond those who break the rules of the site. Our roster has included current and former members of various flash groups, including the Clock Crew, Barney Bunch, and Kitty Krew, and we are open to anyone willing to follow our principles. Barracks members are expected to be civil to others and not start fights, and anyone found to be starting shit with anyone, even if they deserve it, will be removed. You are representing the Barracks with your actions, and if your actions do not reflect our principles, you will not be a part of the organization.

6. Remaining active with the group.

Barracks members are expected to remain reasonably active in the thread, as well as with their duties. Those who are inactive for long periods (months) may be removed from the roster at any time, and rollcalls are occasionally sent out to all members to determine who is active. Members who expect to be inactive for some time due to IRL reasons (such as school, employment, vacation, etc) should inform the Barracks in advance.
