Well you have the credentials. I'm not the one in charge though. You're gonna have to wait for Slash to make a call then the rest of the barracks members can vote on whether or not you can join.

Woah. I don't get how you can be that active..
Total Gain for the month = X
That's X points per day, or X per day per member.
You missed that bit, eh?
Random question:
Why does the EGB have no lower limit on post count / quality, whereas the NGPD does?
No reason, just curious.

You know, that's a very good question. Maybe because in the NGPD and earlier stages of "NG Life" you're still fledglings and are still getting your feet wet, whereas in the EGB, you're more aware of how to post, how not to get involved in flame wars, etc. That's my theory anyway, your thoughts EGB?

Well I suppose it's somewhat assumed that somebody with a Private rank would have accumulated a decent number of posts as well, whereas for the lower ranks this may not be the case. As for post quality, that's one of the things we factor into our decision when voting on potential new recruits, so in that regard it is important.
Well, I think that the number of posts doesn't have to be a requirement to join. We are looking for quality, not quantity, and someone may have only a few posts, but if they are good then that's OK.
For example, if I remember correctly, byteslinger only had four posts when he asked to join, and I think that I don't need to say that she deserves to be here. I'm glad we accepted her, and that's a great example of how post count doesn't matter. Just look at her now :D
At 7/2/09 06:03 PM, Sheizenhammer wrote: Why does the EGB have no lower limit on post count / quality, whereas the NGPD does?
Post count is really unimportant. More posts may give a better idea of user quality, but it's not an important statistic as far as the Portal and the Barracks are concerned. On the other hand, post quality IS brought up in discussions on admission. Not usually as a determining factor, but it could become important if someone is otherwise borderline (has the B/P, but has two or three times as many Saves as Blams, not the best reviewer, etc).
I never understood why at one point, it was considered a negative user attribute to have a high B/P ratio in favor of saves(it possibly still is). I know I have many more saves than blams, but I chalk this up to saving quality submissions and not just to get points. Let's face it, the Portal has gotten better and I'm seeing a lot more blue and green than I used to.
The number of posts a member has does not reflect how dedicated he is to the newgrounds community. Even though it does show interest in interacting with the user-base, it fails to recognize his or her will to keep newgrounds spam free.
Have you ever thought that the reason a person might not have a high post count is because he does not want to spam the boards with useless garrulity?
Maybe there should be a probation period in place, where the potential recruit has to demonstrate his/her willingness to be a member of the Elite Guard Barracks by behaving in a manner that would epitomize the behavior of a good user.
So I thought my earlier posts were pretty useless, but I was browsing through some of my old BBS posts out of curiosity and they really are not so bad after all. Terrible grammar, but decent material for the most part. It brightened my day a bit to realize I wasn't as much of a loser as I thought I was =p

There was, ever since I showed up (most likely before it too), a major savewhore epidemic in the Flash Portal. Kids were voting 5 to pass spam not because they liked it, but because they thought it would always pass. It's still there too. What has been reduced is not the amount of savewhores, but the amount of spam. You saw just a couple of days ago, if Wade didn't delete a Duck before his movie got through, it passed? And look at the Obituaries from yesterday and/or the day before, whenever Wade deleted the [FF] and [OO] movies. Those movies weren't Blammed, they passed and just recently got deleted. Fact is, having too many Saves is possible evidence of savewhoring, and that's obviously not what we're about.

I suppose we'd have the same attitude towards blamwhoring, if it were to happen?
Blam whoring would be way worse. Then even the decent submissions would have trouble.

To be honest, I think it was a bit uncalled for to delete everything like that. People pass flashes for a reason, and it's unfair to just assume "Hmm, this group is notorious for spamming. That must mean everyone who voted 5 are savewhores!" I mean, I dislike flash crews who spam for the purpose of spamming, but to be honest, many of these groups, like the Kitty Krew and Faggot Federation have genuinely funny videos.
Eh, it is possible. I mean look at me, I have 2864 saves and 1180 blams. My B/P ratio usually hovers right around 2.415-2.427. Sure I may be a bit of a savewhore, but that's only because I tend be a very easily amused guy. But spam and other things, ugh, headache city here I come.
At 7/2/09 08:13 PM, MultiCanimefan wrote: I suppose we'd have the same attitude towards blamwhoring, if it were to happen?
Of course. Mass-voting is mass-voting, whichever way it goes. It just so happens that the current trend is savewhoring.
I vote lower on most submissions then most people usually do, but where I might blam something the majority will pass it. This results in my save count rising faster then my blam count does, thus the gap between the two. I actually have pretty high standards.

The roster was supposed to be posted this morning. Just as I finished it, I had to leave the computer and my dad fucked up the internet connection big time. I'm finally back after configuring everything up. Still with some problems, but I managed to get online.
Happy you managed to find the time to post it up! We really appreciate it a lot. Thanks man.

This is where I will make my comment that I had planned on making on the top of the page. I'm happy that we finally have so many committed and new users in the club. I never saw the club this active and get so many posts at a time. It's actually hard to keep up with the way that most of you guys post! (And girls)

I would say that I have a very high standard to. When spam is submitted constantly I will have more blams than saves more days than not.
With out them I'm starting to see more quality stuff and my saves have started to rise a little bit. I'm still a totally honest voter and have high voting standards.
Now reviewing I tend to give away higher scores at time for effort and beginners if they are really trying hard and you can tell they are.

So has it been confirmed that the three alternate accounts are of the same website, or is wade still looking into the matter?

There have been Blam Whores before - back in the day, you could only get the Blam point if you were the actual person that voted 0 on that flash, causing it to get deleted. This was before such a thing as Saves even existed.
I may have a lot of Blams, but I've been here for 5 years. Besides, I'm not even in the top 50 Blammers yet, though I do plan on getting there at some point :)

Oh yea, Slash, I remembered we had a conversation about this a while ago, but I forgot the outcome of the matter.. am I still in a position of power here, or had I stepped down when I became inactive?
I can't quite remember, but I do know it was addressed in some convos back. Anyways, just let me know and though I don't B/P much anymore, I still remember this place quite well. :D
Just dropping you guys a line. I am going to be on hiatus. I am visiting a friend in Florida and will not have comp acess. I will try to sneak on when I get the chance but don't expect me to be on alot. I have been very busy lately so I appologise for my not being here much.
