HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Well guys, we are quickly closing in on flash submission #500,000, at the time or writing this we are about 27 away, with that in mind be vigilant, as the Portal may be flooded with crappy flashes to try and "steal" that submission number.

I'm sure it's not as bad as New Years Eve, where tonnes of people try and get the first flash of the year into the portal. I guess this means more blam points for us.
Art portal is officially out now, ooooo how exciting.
And with that being said, Lock Legion, is in their own words, "pushing 500,000 along."
500k get today peoples.

haha, probably most of all know about the club man
about 1/3 of the egb is on the NGDD
I'm not sure if that statistic is pathetic or not...
So....want to increase the fraction?
French tanks have six gears, 5 reverse, and one forward in case they are ever attacked from behind
I'm loving the art portal already!
Finally the one thing I'm good at.
Anyways I'm closing in on Pvt. First Class in about 50 B/P.
Wow, 500 thou flashes. Damn, GO NG!! Also, why the hell does the Art button disappear when you enter the Art Portal!? That just makes no sense at all. It's kinda stupid to forget that kind of coding. I'm gonna PM Tom or Wade about that and see what they think.
Good God, the Portal is under attack! Look at all the purple! *gurgle gurgle gurgle*
Anyway, here's the 500,000th Flash:
The verdict should be near unanimous.

Damn, I have NEVER seen the Portal in this bad of a condition. MAN THE CANNONS MEN!!! And one sexy Lady. MAN THE CANNONS!!
Load the torpedoes!!!
It's like Pearl Harbor and the U-boats out there.
Well your credentials certainly check out. If you've read the COPYPASTA, then you should be a shoo-in for the EGB. Slash has the final say though. I hope you'll be an upstanding member here in the EGB.
barracks...
what do you think about all the Flashes that can show you Username?...
i am not asking if you consider it annoying... but don't you feel it, in some way, it's an attack?
and also, i am getting afraid of some of those 'groups' flashes
if they already found a way to check you account name, would they be able to get your password too???
in my opinion, something like this should be consider malicious...
i know in the actual rules, it's not... but i want your opinion, before... proposing it
Do they use a certain script/code or something to automatically insert your Username into the Flash. aldlv? As in are we completely sure that they personally know our account name or is it automatic? It's got me thinking that it would be quite a chore for them to know every single account name when hundreds view their flashes every day. They would need to know at least a hundred different Usernames and profiles in order for us to consider this malicious, and I personally don't believe they'd go through the trouble.

They make the Flash read your internet cookie that logs you on Ng...
Well, if they keep record of the info (cookie) the flash gets, they will have about 200-300 user names...
and it's not so difficult to record them, having a data-base, and the flash just have to send the info...
(like when you enter your Score on a game, and Click for Submit, to send them to the Global Score)
it's technically possible...
as possible as get your password fron the same place the cookie is... in my opinion, but we should ask someone that really know about it, like Byteslinger
Thanks for clearing that up. While it may be technically possible, do you believe these groups are that villainous? I want to make it clear that I am not trying to downplay a possibly serious threat, but I am trying to look at it in a reasonable light. Yes, we should ask Byteslinger, thanks for bringing it to the Barracks' attention.

Heh, I was lucky enough to take a screenshot when the purple was at its maximum. Or unlucky, depends.

Good news: While your NG user name is available as a variable in a flash, your password is not kept anywhere - only a flag (in a cookie) that is a validation token that verifies that you are logged in properly. So, while it is possible that your user name could be sent to a separate server (like a high-score process) for collection, they can't get your password.
This may be one way that some flashes capture lists of NG users and then later generate spam PM's - all the poor bastards that view a certain flash are actually giving up their user names to a spam crew.
As a separate warning, do NOT let your browser save passwords and automatically sign on for you. That information is kept in separate cookies on your PC, and could be lifted from any malware.
Hope this clears things up!
*Salutes*

Awww but it's so hard typing in Uma Thurman's name replacing some letters with numbers in over and over again. :(
Seriously, that was my password before I made this post.

Sometimes I really hate being right, but I suppose it was bound to happen given that at the moment the average Portal spammer is highly unoriginal and predictable (as well as unfunny, but that's an aside). Just wish I could've been on late enough to help you guys fight the good fight (accursed time zones!) though looking at the Obituaries page I supppose we could claim a minor victory for fair voting in spite of the crap that did survive.

I don't recall there being any U-Boats at Pearl Harbour. Since the U-Boats were German and the Japanese attacked via aeroplane with their Kamikaze pilots.

Reminds me of the rant John Belushi gave at the end of "Animal House" when he was trying to rally his frat house: "Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" (Next line: "But the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor! Don't tell him that now - he's on a roll!)
Just a piece of random movie trivia that somehow managed to fit this conversation.
BTW, as fast as the flood came in, it's gone now. All because someone wanted the index of "500000". Wouldn't it be funny if the damn thing got deleted?
I got up to Diety Whistle and ranked up today, brilliant.
When I thought my day couldn't get any better, my favourite flash series unveils another episode.

And thanks Kev, now I have to change mine as well >:(

The peak of the invasion:
-----UNSUITABLE FLASH ALERT-----
This guy is sponsoring his website with a crappy flash. Demolish it with your power Elite Guards!
Nice job, KingExodus. Not only was that flash malicious, but it was stolen as well because I rememeber that same entry by a different author being blammed a day or two ago.
Do I have to have a Certain B/P rank to join here?
